Unlike other Montessori's there are 3 teachers in each class with lots of experience. They keep parents informed and involved about the child's progress. Teachers also give one on one time for a whole week for new students so they can get to know the child better and comfort him/her from separation anxiety. Our son(3 yrs when we started) loved going there from day 1. Initially we put him part time but within 2 weeks he wanted to be with his friends. He is very good academically too. Everyday he would get a book and ask us to give him some math problems and dictate some words so he can show to his teacher. Teachers do an excellent job in helping a kid grow physically,mentally and socially strong. Apart from regular academics they also have extra-curricular activities like yoga, sign language,Spanish etc,etc. The director(Ms. Suranghi) does an excellent job making parents get involved in summer activities(science projects,scavenger hunt,wheel day,splash day,cooking,gardening,etc) , special visitors to classes and other annual functions held in the school. We moved to cedar park area last year and couldn't find any like town and country montessori. We love the school very much so drove him south everyday for last 8 months. I'm so happy that I found Twin Oak because, over this period, she has quickly become fluent in English, made many friends, and looks forward to coming to school every day. They may be more traditional (no screens, no digital communication), but I actually enjoy that. I don't need photos of her everyday. I can tell she's learning and engaged by the things she tells and shows us at home and how happy she is to see her teachers and friends each day at drop-off. I appreciate that the teachers are spending their time with my child actually teaching and guiding. My daughter knows her numbers, colors, shapes - even a song that names all the planets. She gets exposed to foreign languages (Spanish, French, Japanese, ASL), music, yoga, other cultures and countries, and so much more. There are some older reviews that mention coloring sheets, but we haven't experienced that. One of the teachers who has been there for roughly 2 years is an artist herself and helps the children with a guided (every child makes their version of the same image) or self-expressive (every child creates what they would like) each week. We even have some framed up in our child's room. I highly recommend Twin Oaks.

The school aligns with my views on treating children as individuals that can meet personal challenges. If the child is advancing they make the work more challenging rather than treating all the kids as the same and just expecting one level of progress from the entire group. Small class sizes and independent study allow kids to work in the directions that they are motivated for while the overall curriculum has an annual pattern to keep them well rounded and to bring newer kids up to speed while serving to refresh and reinforce the veteran kids. During the same class, kids at different ages and abilities become leaders that help each other. The younger ones are motivated to do the work the older ones can do and the older ones are helping the younger ones which reinforces the subject for themselves. Of note are the foreign language programs, music, art and various after school classes like yoga. There are several annual gatherings where the kids sing, play, and do small performances for the group of parents and siblings. It's a very special school and community to be part of. There is a healthy balance of learning, work, and socialization that lets kids be confident and smart. Would recommend it to anyone with children who are able to concentrate on tasks themselves. Those kids really take off at Bluebonnet because the pace of learning is largely self directed with teachers providing guidance, encouragement, and motivation.

I sat in on both 3-6 yr old classes (one of the classes was set up in the back of the main house while the other class took up the front space). During my 10 min observation of each class, I noticed the following montessorian traits: -focus that each child or group of children exhibited in respective work/socialization -what appeared to me as a very calm and controlled environment from the children themselves -a sense of enjoyment by all At the time, I was extremely cautious mainly around how my son would behave knowing his impulse control behaviors and most importantly his delay in speech had been issues at a prior school. I laid my concerns out for the TMC and they only reassured me that our son was the typical 3 yr old. Within a weeks time, we transferred our son to TMC with a gradual transition based on his needs. That was over 6 months ago and our son couldn't be thriving more. We attribute this to an entire staff of loving, caring and very patient super-star individuals at TMC. While our son still is difficult to understand with his speech and still has outbursts, luckily they're short-lived; but furthermore, our son's vocabulary has exploded since his time at TMC. And even more importantly is that our son really does enjoy going to school and when we pick him up rarely does he want to leave. When your child begins to talk about his friends and the teachers he says he loves, unsolicited --- you know you made the right decision with TMC!! We moved to Austin recently and were in search of a summer program for our three year old. They teachers are wonderful - Bekah, Barbara, CJ and Augusta.It was easy to slip into conversation with them during pick up and they were generous with mindful observations about how my son was doing at school. The school is located in a charming street with plenty of green tress and has been a place of learning since 1970. The bricks have inscriptions on them and the tiles have pictures that peek and tell stories of children who were here. The classrooms have plenty of material for children to choose from and they are very aesthetically done. Every time I drop off the little one the atmosphere has been so lively with music and sprinklers - I wish I could stay a little longer. My wish was granted when Jessica allowed me to stay for an hour and shadow the class. The rest of my review is details of the a few hours I spent in the classroom with Barbara and Bekah. It was the last day of summer so the excitement and restlessness was palpable. Children were being dropped off and they were helping themselves to a snack of whole wheat toast and delicious cream. They started to settle down and pick activities. Some worked on alphabet activities, some with books, some with puzzles, some picked numeric activities and some art and sensory activities. Children either worked alone or in small groups. The teacher helped the children who worked with letters to understand phonetics. Two little girls settled down with books - the younger a little distracted and the older focussed, learning from each other. Another little girl got a bunch of pocket books and flipped through them alone - immersed. The teachers did a fine job of balancing - offering help when needed and letting the children be as needed. The little ones seemed to prefer sensory work - coloring, playing with cotton swabs, watering plants and painting. Each activity is set up on a quaint tray and children are encouraged to clean up after they are done. The class is soon settled and bustling with an air of calm, busy, enthusiasm. Everyone finding their zone, their space, taking time to choose an activity, work and wind up. Some stick with an activity for 10 mins, some 20 and others longer. Little girls are busy drawing a unicorn, a boy in learning to sew with thread and paper. Two little girls sit together and play with colored tiles, learning to match and compare. A little boy who has been playing with shimmer - used a dust pan to clean up and does a throughout job. Older kids tend to persist more and interaction with adults definitely encourages them. Overall a great environment to learn to pick what you like, stick and find meaning in what you do, learn to wind down and clean up when you are done and derive joy through the process.

The few times I've given feedback (I'm pretty particular), the director and teacher were super receptive and made changes immediately! The owner, Terri, is someone I'll be forever indebted to. As a first time mom, I thought it was normal to have a pit in my stomach and tear up daily after dropping my son at his old daycare: the plight of a working mom, amiright?! Terri, who had never even met me in person, counseled me through tears for almost an hour on the phone --- I realized immediately that my current daycare was the pits and I had to get somewhere that was invested in my child. Lack of communication and when I asked the admins questions, they snapped at me and got defensive. Then I looked at the licensing reports after one parent pulled out her infant for big safety concerns (documented in a high violation). Small school and so many teachers have left. In 2024 so far many violations including untrained teachers. We are thriving at our new school and it's cheaper, staff is nicer (communicates at least without snapping) and is a safer place for our little one. Also located right under a 5 G tower (see the other review - it's unsafe for that reason too).Here is the mess I found from licensing. We are extremely pleased with the level of care and education they are getting at Woodland. The staff is very friendly and helpful to my wife and I, and they are so good with our children. The kids enjoy getting to school in the morning and don't like to leave in the afternoon. Our daughter can count to ten at not even two years old and loves puzzles and books in class and home. We went to a larger chain when my daughter was born and are so happy to have found woodland when we did. The chain had a lot more apps and daily communications emails that were nice at first but in the end our daughter did not have the proper attention or level of care that we receive daily with Mrs Hemma and Mrs Roshanni. We are so happy and grateful for this school and the teachers. We can't recommend them enough.

They do not answer their phones. 2. They are vague via email. 3. Can guarantee you as the parent, will have more professionalism and better customer service than whoever responds to email inquiries. The phone thing, I do not get it and do not agree. This was the ONLY childcare facility that did not answer their phones once in the dozen times that I called looking for information. Every single other daycare I shopped (over a dozen) either picked up the phone or called me back. How can a childcare facility not answer their phone? I digress I had to ask whoever was responding via email if they weren't enrolling because they did not come out and say it, I also had to ask about a waitlist because this information was not offered (emails to be posted). When I reached out to this facility I let them know what the situation was the response was "we are not enrolling for that program at this time". I was asking about part time, no information on full time was given, nothing about a waitlist (I still don't know the answer about a waitlist because they never responded) Customer service is easy, offer all of the information up front and answer any questions. I asked for a phone call, I let them know I may be misunderstanding their tone, none of this was ever addressed or answered. I wanted to go with this facility because it worked for our price point, schedules, and location. However, if this were the last childcare facility accepting in Austin I would not choose to use them. They don't answer the phone or return calls and seem pretty subpar at answering emails. I'm not usually one to leave a review in this regard however, I feel it important to parents looking for a school for their children to know that they are incredibly unresponsive. Not something that you want to be when taking care of children. I sincerely hope that no one else encounters the same frustrations.
