I
don't think I have one single positive word to say about any aspect of
this sham of a company. I ordered a full laser whitening treatment when
it appeared on Groupon in late December where I thought I was getting a
bargain price of £59 rather than £300. As it turns out, they offer these
treatments for £59 regardless so I feel slightly conned into buying it.
I left about 4 messages where I was told I'd receive a callback to book
an appointment, this never happened. I phoned and was told to wait and
someone would phone me back still never happened. Eventually, I did
manage to book via the phone and the sales person I spoke to was so
pushy, verging on rude. She tried to pressure me into buying their
whitening toothpaste even though I had already politely declined, she
laughed in a condescending manner when I told her I had tried several
other whitening toothpastes, she also said something sarcastic when I
tried to be helpful and guess the phonetic alphabet words when spelling
my postcode. Overall, I felt patronized during the entire conversation.
Nevertheless, I booked my appointment for 13th March.
You might now be wondering why I'm writing this review when I haven't
even had my appointment yet. That's because I have no intention of
attending this appointment. I actually went to visit my dentist
yesterday for a check-up, and I mentioned the treatment I was going to
get. She seemed concerned and informed me about new legislation
(November 2012) which deemed that anyone other than a dental
professional is now unable to carry out whitening procedures. I got home
and did a lot of research, and commented on the Facebook page to ask
some questions. Almost instantly, my comment was deleted and I was told
to PM the page it is impossible to PM a Facebook page. So I sent a
strongly worded email to them asking why I had been blocked from posting
on the page. I was then told that they often receive comments from
'disgruntled GDC workers' (General Dental Council) and they delete them -
why not just answer them? It seems as though they also delete any
negative reviews, but were quick to inform me that they have 100%
positive reviews I wonder why.
I have been emailing them throughout the day and their replies have been
snappy and verging on aggressive. I discovered that they offer a
training course which allows anyone to become a 'bleaching technician' -
this is NOT a recognized dental qualification. This essentially means
that anyone can walk off the street, take their 'course' and then whiten
YOUR teeth using a possibly unsafe chemical. Which leads me to my next
point. I had to ask them several times which chemical agent they used as
it seemed they were reluctant to tell me, and their website is vague at
best. They use sodium perborate which is potentially toxic and is
prioritized by the EU to be banned shortly (a quick Google search shows
this). Again, this concern was brushed off by Naturawhite.
They claim to have dentists working for them, but even these 'dentists'
at the head of their company and who are listed on their website DO NOT
EXIST on the GDC register. It is illegal to title yourself 'dentist' if
you are not. I asked for the dentist registration numbers, and this was
also completely ignored. When questioned about the GDC, Naturawhite
actually told me Please note that the GDC have no jurisdiction
whatsoever when it comes to our sector cosmetic whitening. We take the
same amount of advice from the General Deaf Council as we do from the
GDC you are referring to. Funny how the GDC are actually in the process
of prosecuting similar companies to Naturawhite, so I don't see why
they are any exception.
In conclusion, I genuinely feel that Naturawhite are exploiting
customers. We see teeth whitening for £59 and take it, and when we go to
find out what Naturawhite actually do, they provide little to no
specific information on their website regarding the actual procedure.
Perhaps if they did provide more information, more people would realize
that this is not safe and therefore not book. There is a reason why
legitimate teeth whitening costs a lot more than £59, and it is easy to
get sucked in by a bargain price, but I suggest that if you are
considering teeth whitening, then consider saving up and getting it done
properly. I am beyond glad that my dentist warned me of this and I
researched it myself, because yes I would be getting a cheap price but I
am not prepared to risk my oral health it is not worth it. If anyone
is interested, I can provide emails between myself and Naturawhite which
detail the research I came across. I tried to post again on their
Facebook, but I am blocked. It just all seems too suspicious to me.
Surely if what they were doing was legitimate and completely safe, they
would not get so defensive and instantly delete any word of these
concerns on their Facebook page. read more
