(All pun intended. ) Pieces range in size from a fingernail to clusters over a foot tall. Most fossils are of smaller organisms. No dinosaurs bones here. Fossils are located in the jewelry counter, and around the store. Blue Nugget also has the largest selection of Native American jewelry in Goldfield Ghost Town. Multiple cases of jewelry, along with pieces hanging on the walls. It is an impressive selection. Employees are ready to not just sell jewelry but also give background information about the artist. Dream catchers found here are not limited to the standard design. Many have unique center patterns. Blue Nugget has their share of touristy items as well. They try to stay on brand with those being Southwest and South American themed products. A good portion of the items for children are touristy. A selection of prickly pear and spicy foods, mugs, shirts, small polished rocks/geodes, books, and mass produced jewelry. The list goes on. Commercially made jewelry is displayed seperate from the handmade pieces. This store is well stocked with merchandise. Items are thoughtfully arranged to maximize the space. Shelving matches the old west building they are housed. Historic look and the plethora of products are decor all on their own. When it comes to prices, for the most part, Blue Nugget has the other stores beat. Some of the best prices for a giftshop. Signs declaring this fact are not wrong. I wasn't expecting a giftshop in the ghost town to have such non tourist items. This giftshop could hold it's own outside of a tourist attraction. Blue Nugget is a great resource for gifts. There is no fee to park or enter the ghost town. Especially if looking for fossils or Native American jewelry, I recommend paying a visit to Blue Nugget.

The Flagg Mineral Foundation sponsors the annual Flagg Gem and Mineral Show. This show is usually scheduled for the first weekend in January and is their largest fundraising event. The show, however, may occasionally move to the following weekend to avoid conflicts with New Year's Day celebrations. Its informal tailgate format offers a low cost venue for field collectors and local mineral/lapidary clubs to share their latest finds with children, teachers, rockhounds, and the general public. The Flag Mineral Foundation's goal of their yearly gem and mineral show is to increase the interest of children in rocks, minerals, geology, and science. There is no charge for admission and parking is free was well since it's held at the Mesa Community College (Dobson Rd. and the US-60/Superstition Freeway in Mesa, AZ).

She always finds the most interesting events to go to! It would be a lovely mild day outside on Sunday so I said sure let's check it out! Every year, typically at the beginning of January, the Flagg Mineral Foundation hosts this event that showcases multiple vendors showing and selling all sorts of common, uncommon, and rare minerals, gems, and stones. For those that collect crystals, there were a lot of them to choose from including many made of selenite. The variety was amazing and I enjoyed browsing and looking at all there was to offer. It's a very kid friendly event too as there are areas where you can dig your own fossils, pan for gold, and a lot of the vendors were very nice and gave out free stones to kids. Our kiddo now has a bonafide rock collection but in all honesty she was most enthused by the kind gentleman who let her choose a lollipop from his booth. As it was held outside there were also a lot of cute doggos walking around with their humans in tow. Parking is free but harder to find as it gets closer to afternoon so coming earlier is better. We came on the last day of the show and there were a lot of clearance sales going on. Note that some vendors don't take credit but there is an ATM near the front of the entrance. This is a smaller show my friend said, nowhere near the breadth and depth of the grand Tucson gem and mineral show but for us it was the perfect way to spend a nice Sunday morning walking around and learning about geology! Details: - At the Mesa Community College West Parking Lot - Free admission and free parking - Jewelry, gems, beads, fossils, minerals, and lapidary supplies - Activities and freebies for kids - Food trucks on site - Dog friendly

Oro Mesa is my GO TO, I can't believe that I wasted so much time and money at other places. Ray, the manager, and GMO, a professional in the industry, are THE best! I have NEVER seen customer service anywhere else that's this respectful, honest, and reliable. Even though they're part of the Oro brand they're NOTHING like the other locations. They have different rules, they actually care about the person walking through their door instead of the items?!?! Their priority is honesty between them and the customers, they're more likely to pay out more each time you come. I needed money in a last minute situation and all I had on me was my $1000 2 in 1 laptop and charger. My problem was the trackpad wasn't working but it was touchscreen so I figured it was still pawnable.... I spent ALL day going city to city and shop to shop. Most stores wouldn't even look at it if it wasn't already at %100, nor let me charge it there. Cause the trackpad issue and the serial number being scratched off (even though I had used a label maker to print out the serial #) I almost went home empty handed. I called this location and even over the phone he answered EVERY question, especially ones that other shops would avoid or lie about. I went in and they tried EVERY option and possibility till they found a solution. I don't know a single pawn shop or even business/ company that would have done anything GMO and Ray did!! The southeast Asian style clothing is cute, but also of mass produced quality with snagged and flimsy fabric. The merchandise is cute, but simply not worth the price when it will break before you even get it home. The customer service is completely nonexistent. The only thing this store has going for it is the clean display. Nothing about this place remotely represents the hippie movement of the 70s. Everything is based on Southeast Asian stereotypes, or marketed toward New Age fads. I love a good tarot deck, but I can shop for that in a metaphysical store.
