The Flagg Mineral Foundation sponsors the annual Flagg Gem and Mineral Show. This show is usually scheduled for the first weekend in January and is their largest fundraising event. The show, however, may occasionally move to the following weekend to avoid conflicts with New Year's Day celebrations. Its informal tailgate format offers a low cost venue for field collectors and local mineral/lapidary clubs to share their latest finds with children, teachers, rockhounds, and the general public. The Flag Mineral Foundation's goal of their yearly gem and mineral show is to increase the interest of children in rocks, minerals, geology, and science. There is no charge for admission and parking is free was well since it's held at the Mesa Community College (Dobson Rd. and the US-60/Superstition Freeway in Mesa, AZ).

Then they moved to the bigger space in the same mall and we gravitated there only to find they now have even more products than before. Every time we go there I find something to buy. We've been back a lot and never leave empty handed. We enjoy talking with the owners when they're there. Whenever I need something to use I go there to get my herbal needs, if they don't have it they can order it. The other staff are also super friendly and helpful as well. If you want a psychic reading the owner does that as well on a first come first serve basis. I had her do my reading and she is accurate. She took a look at the earrings and told me what options I had for converting them to a necklace. I went with a chain because it was easier and faster. She let me pick out whatever chain I wanted and triple checked to make sure I was comfortable with the length I chose, and then she made the earrings into two necklaces right there! I spent some time browsing afterwards and ended up coming home with a bracelet and some other beads that I'll just keep as trinkets. Highly recommend this place for anything you might need. The next time I made my pilgrimage to Baiz to pickup ground lamb, I investigated this newest neighbor. BTW, the shopping center is located at the NE corner of S Dobson Rd and W Baseline Rd. The day I visited was a Saturday, so everything was priced at $7. My shopping companion and I couldn't resist sifting through the piles of stuff in bins that ranged from kids' toys to bedsheets to random returns and overstocked thingamabobs. I did accidentally get slimed from a partly open bottle of moisturizing cream (I hope... yikes!), but managed to wipe myself off and continue rummaging. I ended up buying what I thought was quite a gem of a find... five tiny disco balls (with a spool of fishing line for hanging included)! My buddy found collapsible paper lanterns that look like wasp's nests. I didn't know what they were, but he explained that they were decoys to dissuade wasps from setting up camp on your property (think "scarecrows"... but for wasps). This was an appropriate gift for a family member that recently had some issues with wasps continually landing in their backyard swimming pool. Anyhow, when we checked out we chatted with the clerk and found out more about the store. The pricing scheme is thus: Sunday $5, Monday $3, Tuesday $1(!), Wednesday $0.50, Thursday - closed for restocking, Friday $15, Saturday $7. You'll want to pay attention to opening hours on the cheapest days because we were told that quite a few people show up early to get in line. Even though Wednesday is the cheapest day (at a mere 50 cents), we were told that the inventory is pretty slim pickin's. Tuesday morning may be your sweet spot (1 buckaroo!), but you're probably gonna want to get there before open at 9 a.m. Happy hunting baragain-seekers!

Rockhound's dream! I love this place! Prices are lower than I expected and my shopping experience was very satisfactory despite what I saw after reading the nasty review left by Rastablonde J... I have been to Globe many times. There is one little rock shop there that is owned by a rather quaint fellow that really wants to get out of the rock business and his prices reflect that. They are literally "giveaway prices". Perhaps this is why Rastablonde J likes to shop there. I've also been going to Quartzsite to shop for stones and slabs for many years as well and it is actually a "Buyer Beware" situation when you are looking for high quality materials such as what I found at Natural Expressions. Many of the dealers in Quartzsite sell "junk" slabs and rough stones quite cheaply that are not suitable for the high quality jewelry slabs and cabs that my customers in Canada are used to buying from me. I am accustomed to buying materials that I can markup and then resell, and this rock shop's prices allow me to do this quite easily, despite the fact that I am a snowbird from Canada. The owner Fred Thiele, is a very nice, kind and knowledgeable chap. He tumbles his own stones and hand polishes his own large slab specimens (You really need to see his Petrified Wood Gallery) and his knowledge is impeccable. His staff was very helpfuI and accomodating. I am so glad I stopped in! Highly recommended! This is the best rock shop in Gilbert, Arizona or anywhere else in the Phoenix area hands down. Mr. Thiele has many exclusive specimens. He seems to have a limitless supply of so many different rocks, minerals, fossils, local specimens (I purchased some lovely Shattuckite Specimens from Phelps Dodge Mine that were collected in the 1960's), large crystal specimens that I wish would fit in my car (Customs would have a field day with me!), and so many things that I cannot fit on this page. I'm a rather advanced old lady collector, and I've found specimens in this shop at very reasonable prices which I have never seen at any mineral show for any price. In my yearly long drive from Canada, I'm glad I've finally found a place I feel comfortable shopping for stones. I'm not leaving disappointed, and plan on making this my first stop on my return trip next year. Please support your local rock shop and buy from this man! It would be such a loss to lose such a wonderful place. If an old lady like me can drive up once a year to shop at this rock shop and go home happy, surely others will find this place as educational and enjoyable as I. And a note to that young fellow, Nicholas. I feel really bad that you had that happen to you. But do you have any idea how lucky you really are? My 14 year old nephew had the same idea as you did to help his mum (mom) with her baking business in California. He wanted to put flyers in people's mailboxes advertisng her cookies and cakes. After about the 3rd house, an angry owner came out and called the Mounties (excuse me, the Police). When the police arrived, the owner accused my nephew of stealing from his Postal Mail Box. When my nephew explained that he was only putting flyers in the mailbox and was not taking anything out, the Police hauled him off to jail! His fine was $2000.00 in U.S. funds. Quite a chunk of money for such a trivial offense, don't you think? But according to United States Law, it was not a trivial offense and my nephew actually unknowingly broke a Federal Law. Though many may be unaware, it is important to know that this type of activity is illegal by federal law. It may seem to be an easy way to advertise, but only U.S. Mail delivered by authorized personnel may be placed in mailboxes. The United States Code for crimes and criminal procedure prohibits the placement of "unstamped flyers" in any mailbox. Title 18, section 1725 states that any person who knowingly deposits "mail-able matter" without postage in an established letter box shall be subject to a fine.This law is commonly known as the "mailbox restriction." So, everyone in my family that day learned a valuable and costly lesson. I hope that you learn something from this as well and be glad you didn't have to pay what my nephew did. read more

Then they moved to the bigger space in the same mall and we gravitated there only to find they now have even more products than before. Every time we go there I find something to buy. We've been back a lot and never leave empty handed. We enjoy talking with the owners when they're there. Whenever I need something to use I go there to get my herbal needs, if they don't have it they can order it. The other staff are also super friendly and helpful as well. If you want a psychic reading the owner does that as well on a first come first serve basis. I had her do my reading and she is accurate. I would recommend her to do a reading to anyone who wants a reading. We will be coming back soon- So mote it be.

When we walked down the path to the shop, it was walking back in history, beautiful location, and the owner is incredible. Right next to his shop his son also owns a horse riding business. Both of these businesses were immaculately kept and you can tell. They are passionate about what they do. The rock shop itself isn't huge, but the quality of material there is incredible. There are also items that are inexpensive for your children to purchase. I saw quality dinosaur bone specimens that were museum quality. Except at this wonderful rock shop you can touch them! I would recommend the store to a a beginner lover of Rocks or to someone who knows exactly what they collect and they only want quality. The petrified wood specimens were unbelievable also but they also had hundreds of other local items as well as non-local items for you to experience. I didn't have enough time there due to a prior commitment, but I will be going back the next time we're in Arizona. The next time I go, I just want to ask questions to the owner because I have no doubt the knowledge he has is something I've never experienced before. I purchased one the most beautiful pieces of polished copper I've ever seen.
