Zoo animals
Joy E.

We went to the zoo today with 10 little ones and had an amazing time!!! The zoo is very well maintained and clean. We had a picnic lunch at one of the tables. The reason for one star is it is hard to maneuver the strollers in the tiny gravel, wish it was compacted gravel. But we will be returning soon!!!

It was a pretty good little zoo. They had lots of animals. We got to feed birds. One came and landed right on my husbands neck which was awesome. Only bad part the betting zoo part is only goats so that was not as exiting as we thought. The donkey was so cute and all the deer were so cute! It's worth it with the three attraction pack.

The Natural Bridge Zoo has been around for almost 40 years now. I have had the joy of living a mile or so away growing up. There aren't too many things like coming home and having giraffes staring as you drive by everyday. I have heard several different opinions on the zoo. It is not the largest zoo facility, but it is a great place to get up close to animals you wouldn't typically get to interact with at large metropolitan area zoos. The habitats are basic, but functional for the animals. You aren't going to see staged environments to draw a crowd, the animals are the focal point at each area. You aren't going to see rare species or one time only exhibitions. So if you are looking for that, you need to go to Cincinnati, San Diego, etc. If you want to feed a giraffe out of your hand, ride an elephant with your kids, or just sit and let them chase chickens, turkeys, and the like, you come here. No frills, but a great experience that will satisfy most people's taste for seeing animals they wouldn't get to in most cases. Be sure to stop by to see the pygmy goats. Plan for around 3-4 hours to see most everything to your satisfaction. Plenty of places for a picnic, but pack your lunch. There are very few options (if any some days) for buying food once you're there. The price of admission gets you in for the whole day even if you need to leave and come back later. You will have several memories once you leave. Definitely worth the admission and the time especially if you have kids. You will want to come back.

The sign right outside.

Rediculous. There is only like 10 animals to see including chickens, goats baby calf. Took 15 minutes to see. Complete rip off.

This is actually a pleasant little zoo and different enough from the Safari Park located up the road.

So I opted to not feed the animals. Also the locals told me not to feed the animals. And now that I think about it, they charge you to feed their animals with their own food... but hey, I'm not hating the game... CAPITALISM! So but me not letting my kids pet or feed the animals, I save half on the experience, and then some cause I'm not letting my kids get sick. But man... these animals just swarm your car anyway... almost got mugged by an emu. If I got into a car accident in the safari, would it be a liberty mutual commercial? But I digress... the real question is why is there a picture of a cheetah in their signs. Didn't see any cheetahs. But aside from that... it was an enjoyable drive. Zebras are assholes though...

I had a blast. I was happy to add another drive thru Safari to my list of adventures. Purchasing…read moretickets at the main entrance was slow, but the overall park experience was fun. I did not enjoy the cheeseburger combo meal that was purchased on site. The lemonade was bland, and the burger was dry. The women's restroom is overdue for remodeling. I was excited to see penguins, lemurs, squirrel monkeys, tigers, and a king cheetah at the park. I would not have guessed that VA would house these animals. I was also excited to see the giraffes and rhinoceroses. The park was clean, and there were plenty of wild animals to see. As a bonus, potholes were scarce.

We made it just in time for the 3:30 Bigfoot battle! The kids were able to fill water guns and squirt Bigfoot as he ran around the town. It was a perfect way to cool off during the 90° weather. The town was pretty cool! My son had a blast going from store to store seeing what each room held. We pressed all the buttons and touched all the things! Our favorite part was the dino trail. My husband enjoyed the Civil War statues mixed with the dinosaurs. The kids just loved the dinosaurs and the adventure of it all. The dino maze was cool and my daughter loved the dino dig. The gift shop had some pretty cool shirts and we couldn't leave without getting a stuffed dino and a penny from the machine. A great roadside attraction! Definitely worth stopping and seeing, especially if you have kids/just enjoy weird and entertaining experiences.

It Was campy and over the top but hey... I think it was meant to be. The rating is strictly for young kids. Adults, don't waste your time. The price was a bit high but the kids got to squirt a "Bigfoot" who was also armed with a squirt gun.
