Report filed with attorney general for bait and switch pricing. Now he refuses to give me a refund so I have to dispute with my credit card which will cost him even more. My situation was very interesting. I got my permit when I was 16 in November of 2017, and had to wait almost a year to take my drivers test. Since permits expire a year later, before I knew it, November 2018 came around. I was looking EVERYWHERE for a driving instructor because I was a minor at the time, and I had an extremely small amount of time to fit in all my driving lessons before my permit expired. After getting in contact with Natomas Driving School, I was partnered up with John Diggs. Of course, driving for the first time is an intimidating thing, but John made me comfortable and forget that fear. Before I knew it, I was on the freeway driving with no anxiety. John is an intelligent man, and knows what he's doing. He's been an instructor for years and is extremely skilled at what he does. He even gave me the nickname, "Smiley" because I always smiled and laughed whenever we were together. 10/10. I was able to fit all my lessons in two weeks, then took the drivers test, and passed! I don't recommend waiting almost a year to take your test, but it comes to show you how well John is at instructing. This man is wise, funny, and knowledgeable. Thanks again John! read more

He knows how to interact with the youth and not only grooms teens into being able to pass the test, but as he says "teaches them how to go beyond the test and actually learn how to drive a vehicle". He gives good critiques in a positive way when needed and I'm glad I had the opportunity to be instructed by him and I will continue to refer him to my friends and family. Very unprofessional. They do not return your calls, do not respond to your questions or concerns, and are not helpful. They are in a hurry to take your money, they're really good at that. First lesson went great but now I can't get hold of anybody to schedule. Melody was great but she could not schedule next lesson and I cannot get in touch of business to schedule. Not professional. But Melody was communicative, encouraging, and positive and my child was happy with their first lesson, even though she cut it somewhat short of the hour of drive time we were supposed to get. My sixteen year old nephew needed six hours of driving lessons for his driver's license. While searching for driving school deals on Groupon.com, I came across the Natomas Driving School. While their yelp reviews are less than stellar, I was able to overlook the five year old reviews and call. I spoke with Jefferey, who happens to own this driving school with his father. Jefferey was very professional, helpful and prompt. Nothing like the reviews stated on yelp. I was made comfortable and agreed upon a price and starting date for my nephew's lessons. John Diggs is the man. He did a fantastic job teaching my daughter the essentials for being a responsible and skilled driver. I sat in during the lessons and I can confirm John is an expert instructor. He was quizzing me half the time and I forgot so many of the traffic laws! John has a very calm and professional demeanor. My wife sat in one of the lessons and she said he has the perfect disposition for a driving instructor. I agree. Were there times I had to leave a message on their machine? Sure. But Jeffrey Diggs (John's son) was prompt in getting back to us to schedule our appointments. Sad to say that they started off good, but then went downhill and we had to transition to a new company right in the middle of the sessions. My son had his first two sessions, they went fine. Then the next two were cancelled, back to back. This meant my son was unable to take his scheduled driving test at DMV, which as you know was very disappointing for an eager 16 year old who was ready to drive. They then told me to reschedule the DMV test for the end of the following month, which I did (actually scheduled the very last day of the month to be safe). For the next two weeks I continued to text and try to reschedule the sessions, only to be continuously told "sorry for the delay, let me check, I'll be back in the office tomorrow.....etc." and by the time he replied to schedule them he pushed the sessions out another month. This would mean I would have to cancel the DMV appointment again.....complete disappointment and not an option for us. Needless to say, I was then told I could call around to other companies if I wanted to transition to someone who might be able to schedule sooner. Exactly what I did and found a great company who scheduled my son for the next day! Natomas Driving School may seem like a great deal ($) but sometimes you should go ahead and pay a little extra for the better service and professional communication. Lesson learned! read more

I signed up for the online driving course for my teenager based on NextDoor recommendations. After she completed the course, she was supposed to receive the certificate. After 2 weeks, still no certificate in the mail. I called (no answer) and left a voicemail, and sent an email. Still no response. I ended up contacting another driver education company. They were super helpful, I signed my daughter up for their online course, which she had to take again in order to get a certificate because I had no faith that we were going to get it from Natomas Driving School. She completed the course, and we received the certificate within 2 days. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before going with Natomas Driving School. Recent reviews also mention their lack of response. It was a waste of time and money because the certificate is required in order to obtain the driving permit from DMV. We are out $75. Business is totally unresponsive. Their 4 lesson package might seem convenient (1-hr; 1 hr; 2hr; 2 hr) $75 each (total $300) and cheap, but getting to schedule the following lessons is impossible. Of course, our 1-hour (and only lesson) is useless towards the 6-hr requirement with other driving schools because their packages are 2-hour slots. And of course, this business will argue that they got paid for their 1-hour lesson, but that wasn't the contract, the contract was for a complete 6-hour requirement, so NO, they didn't fulfill their end of the contract. Owner (Jeffrey Diggs) may not care about his business anymore. Lesson learned. Go pass this business. read more

Same experience as the other reviewer. My son and I have been calling them since AUGUST to try and schedule his third appointment. Every time we call, we get voice mail, or they're busy with another student, or they ask me to call back and leave my information on their voice mail since they don't have anything to write with?! Shouldn't they be taking notes or something? Anyway, I can't and won't recommend them to anyone in the future. We had to schedule two appointments just in case one of them fell through. Not a good way to run your business. The father is very difficult to reach, and the son isn't even around anymore. They're cheaper than other schools, but you get what you pay for. Always too busy to schedule time with my kid, but you gotta wonder with the service they're giving me and other parents, they can't possibly be THAT busy?! I didn't have the same experience as the others here. I was happy with the service and they communicated with me great, although I was communicating through email. John & Jefferey were great and really teach what the children need to know about safety and passing their test. One thing I did like was they do "allow" the parent to come along, although not encouraged since it can be distracting. Yes-as good as it gets! I had someone pick up the phone immediately when I called. I received notably great service. I booked my daughter's driving lessons out through February. I then received E-mail and text confirmations. I would have given five stars just based on this great service, but then my daughter had her first lesson today. Her instructor, John Diggs showed up perfectly on time. He then gave an overview on the car before they started. From there he gave a full hour lesson that my daughter said was amazing. I'm no longer scared to drive with her. Her driving improved greatly just after one hour. Truth be told, we got a recommendation about John and his school from the DMV. So far I'm loving the instruction from this school. The instructors are very calm and helpful. I appreciate that they aren't teaching me simply how to pass the driving test but how to DRIVE! I did two lessons at another school that left me confused and my learning was inconsistent but these guys are helping me out with that. I would definitely recommend. I purchased a driving course via Groupon for my grandson; neither he nor I were ever able to access a response from Mr. Diggs to start driving courses in time prior to the expiration of the certificate. Now a matter of principal, I have called and exchanged 48 e-mails without resolution to this issue. Mr. Jeffrey Diggs redirected me to Groupon who confirmed that the Natomas Driving School would be responsible for the $20.00 refund. Mr. Diggs further lied to us on multiple occasions, claiming he has sent this amount but has lost the evidence of mailing or having the check stub; he refuses to send a personal check or meet with me and has changed his story multiple times and lost track of his excuses. At best this is a person with suspect business practices much less I would ever trust this driving school or him to instruct my teenage grandson. read more

Very unprofessional and unreliable Its a father and son business - they rarely show up on time, and I can honestly say (without exaggerating) NEVER returns phone calls in a timely manner... almost seems like they purposely try to get voice mail rather than talking to the parents. I can't even begin to mention how many times they have tried to reschedlule lesson appointments with my child. These guys really need to get organized and learn how to properly schedule their sessions with these poor teenagers...it would also help for them to learn how to properly and timely communicate with the parents who are PAYING them instead of relaying messages through the teenagers! I give them an F for poor communication and worse customer service. If your looking for a driving school for your teens ...use a better established company that knows how to properly commnuicate and schedule their lessons. I don't even know where to begin. I refuse to give this ridiculous excuse of a business a single star. They are so unprofessional it's a wonder how they have made it thus far. Luckily for them this is a mandated service that parents must do. I HIGHLY URGUE that you use a different company for your beloved child. Not only were they late to every appointment that we made but gave no common courtesy to even let us know they would be late. I had to call every single time to find out what's going on, only to get a voice mail with no response in a quickly manner. And when they finally did respond it was with a text message. Like I said "SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!" The final straw with me was when they were over a half hour late to our final appointment. I had to call 4 times to finally get a response via text, they don't even have the decency or the respect to even give you a call back like a professional company would, to tell me they were on their way. My son waited 30 mins in 98 degree weather for this sad excuse of a company. To top it off, when I asked for some type of discount for their poor ability to schedule and their poor customer service, they REFUSED! Even after I pointed out they were late to every single appointment and we had to reschedule 3 times because of their inability to properly run a calendar schedule. Made an appointment for my brother and was told his appointment was on sat June 25th 430 - 530, 15 minutes passed by and the instructor never came so I decided to call back. Didn't get a call back until 5 and was told the instructor was still instructing another student and was told to reschedule til next Sunday. One big advantage that Natomas Driving School has over the others is affordability. They are cheaper than other driving schools and offer the option of paying in installments (per lesson). I would however recommend double checking all appointments once made. Confirm a few days before and on the day of the appointment. All in all, despite a few bumps, they got the job done and my daughter is now a licensed driver. John was her instructor and he was very nice and accommodating. read more

My experience with John was great. I had all 6 hours with him and the way he teaches is great. He taught me everything i needed to know. He is very busy so if you need an appointment, you will need to make it a month in advance. I took my driving test today and passed on my first try. Try to have your last appointment couple days before your driving test because he will tell you everything and let you if your doing anything wrong. John is funny and really helpful. 10 years ago my sister had John Diggs as her driving instructor at Simply The Best Driving School. For the years leading up to when it would be my turn to sit in the driver seat, all she would talk about is how easy and comfortable to drive with John. After i had my first lesson (and practically first experience behind the wheel) i felt like I was already more confident driving. Zero stars. My child took the driver's education online and we are having trouble getting the completion certificate. Took me 15 minutes on the phone with owner to convince him to mail the certificate instead of hand delivering. The purpose for hand delivering is to get customer to sign up and pay for driver's training on the spot. From the sound of the previous reviews, the strategy is to get the money up front and then not deliver the training without the customer exerting pressure.
