We toured dozens of places in San Diego when exploring independent and assisted care and while many…read moreare incredible at wining and dining people taking tours, if you dig deeper, you will find major staff turnover and often unhappy residents. It's not like that at Paradise Village. The team are so thoughtful and genuinely care about the residents. They also stay for 5, 10, 15 years bc they treat the team well (which means they treat the people living onsite well). My family member is safe and cared for. I'm communicated with promptly and I can't recommend this place enough. Great place!

Besides, the area is full of little restaurants...some funky (colorful), some "spiffy"...but with EXCELLENT foods of different kinds...Mexican, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian. I'm having a ball discovering them. We are slowly taking advantage of what is offered here...and it is a LOT! Most importantly, EVERYONE...staff and people living here are SO friendly and helpful. I looked at a lot of places and decided this was the best because if I heard it once, I heard to said SO many times...."Welcome." And so many people have had the same experience... AND, it's close to downtown (symphony and Balboa Park), Coronado (good friends there) and family. And the weather? TERRIFIC!

I loved it for my parents but it truly has sparked up for the new genertion coming in. The food looked and tasted delicious and far better than any I saw on pictures from other places. The rooms are clean, fresh and updated. The social calendars couldn't be better and the residences I met who were close to my age, loved it. They couldn't say enough good things about it and they were all participating in different activities from each other. Not only were activities abundant but holidays were made to be celebrated with special events offered and residences were signing up for trips to Lambs House Theater to upcoming plays, Peohe's was another sign up opportunity. I could say more but I do think they are not represented fairly. You should check them out! Susan Kennedy

Executive Director Beverly McGuirk is always available, front and center, to answer questions and offer help. The regular receptionist, Melanie Housh, is so personable and friendly, always able to let me know where my dad is when I cone to visit. The core team of Scotty, Amber and Rosemary are awesome! They know each resident and there needs and preferences and handle to group (a very difficult population) with aplomb and great care. My dad is 84, fairly young for any memory care group, but is as content and engaged as possible. When I visit, which is often, he is always involved in some activity or other. I was so concerned that he would resist his restricted environment (this is a locked facility) but he adjusted quickly and easily. My family is so grateful for Parkview. We sleep at night knowing he is well cared for. And I haven't even mentioned that it is always clean and neat, as are the residents. When I first saw the facility, I was so excited to see there first floor "main street", just beautiful! I had know idea that the staff are even more impressive!

In early February, my 93 year old Mama became very ill and had to be taken, via ambulance, to the…read morehospital where she was diagnosed with Influenza A and Sepsis. She stayed in an acute care hospital for one week and was transferred to Paradise Valley Manor and Health Care Center in National City, CA, to get her strength back before she was able to go home and be independent once again. Upon arrival, we marveled at how neat, clean, and beautifully appointed the facility was inside. The two ladies at the front desk, Sandra and Karina, couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. The various staff members greeted my precious Mama with smiles and compassion and were all so very kind. The Administrator, Aaron Burrup, came in and introduced himself. He shook her hand and made her feel right at home. Amanda, from Admissions, made sure she was comfortable in her room. Her Charge Nurses, Megan, Judy, Edwin, Marisol, and Mila were very helpful and accommodating and worked with us as we shared our concerns. Faye, Karina, and Utzhi, her attentive medication nurses, made certain they continued her regular medicinal regime and if she had a special need, immediately got Doctors orders to help her with whatever arose. Her CNA's were outstanding. Esmer, Cita, Vilma, Cynthia, and Edwina treated my sweet Mom with the same love and compassion they would treat their own Mothers. They would greet her with cheerful smiles and warm hellos many times every day. They sang to her, helped her with her daily personal needs, tenderly helped her shower, neatened her room, and made her laugh. How important these things are when you are yearning to be home to be with your family. They truly become a lifeline. The housekeepers were amazing at keeping everything neat and clean. I never smelled urine or any other unpleasant odors the entire time my Mom was a patient in this facility. Her Physical Therapist, Rayne, was extraordinary. Whereas upon arrival, my Mom was so weak and dreaded therapy, Rayne encouraged her and cheered her on as she worked hard and built up her strength. He gave her the support and fortification she needed and taught her skills she will use the rest of her life. Her Occupational Therapist, Lauren, was so patient and thoughtful as she shared her expertise with my Mom so she could eventually go home and live independently again. These two Therapists infused their strength into my Mom and are the reason she is so much stronger now. With the collaboration of this hard-working, dedicated team, my darling Mama was able to go home today in better shape than before her illness. They provided excellent care for her, both physically and emotionally. Our family is extremely grateful and appreciative to the entire Staff of Paradise Valley Manor and Health Care Center.

She did not get the chance to live in the independent living area as she was admitted to the healthcare center but she loved it. From that first Saturday night we were treated as family. It was still COVID and they had wonderful precautions that always made you feel safe. Momma immediately became part of the community She may not have been able to walk but she had everything else. She joined in the recreations from bingo to "21" to dominoes to singing and telling stories. Everyone knew her. She thrives on making people laugh and the entire staff loves her. Mt Miguel was a true gift to our family. From the CNA's to the kitchen staff to the recreational staff they always made momma feel great. A special shout out to Tom and Olivia who not only always made sure momma was good -they now have become our friends for life. We never wanted to have to admit momma anywhere but it eventually became too much for us to handle. Mt. Miguel saved our family and we will be forever grateful for the care, the love, the compassion and the excellent care she received until the end. I will recommend Mt. Miguel to everyone I know.
