Came across this little gem. We ended up with happy stomaches…read more 1st of all, the menu does say the customers can choose the spicy level of the food. When I go to a new restraint, I always ask their standards and recommendations. I like spicy but I have learned that each cultural food on the spicy level can be 180 different. We ordered two dishes: vg korma no spicy and chicken choila spicy level 4, which was recommended by their server. This place has good amounts of vegetarians options. My partner opted for vegetable korma, which is slightly sweet but the food is flavorful for us. I am not a vegetarian but I definitely like this dish. Chicken choila is so powering, flavorful, and tasty. I am not a fan of chicken breast but the chef did an amazing job on keeping the meat juicy not dry. It has a lot species and ginger in this dish. The chef I believe came out from the kitchen talking to us at the end. He explained this dish is a modified. The original from Nepel is fire roasted buffalo meat (If I dont remember wrong) and is very spicy. I really appreciate he explained it. The portion is very generous. I ate half of the dish and kept another half for the next meal. The brown rice! Oh my...the rice is not soggy and it's legit not boxed frozen rice to me. I had been to other asian restaurants that the rice wasn't cooked good or its frozen rice. I recommend to give a try :) I am a newbie of Indian/ Himalayan food.

I live i Los Angeles, but I travel to Carlsbad for work. Whenever I do, I grab lunch at Hyderabad Cafe for dine-in, and then order some food to take back with me to LA. After seeing this place numerous times we finally decided to check it out…read more It's located in a small strip mall, so parking wasn't difficult on a Tuesday evening close to 6:00pm. Walking in, it wasn't busy. There was only 1 person waiting for a to-go order. There was a good amount of seating. It wasn't the cleanest though, the floors needed some serious sweeping. We seated ourselves and the young man at the front counter took our order. He was very quiet but helpful. We ordered the Tikka Masala with chicken, Butter Masala w/ chicken, Vindaloo with Shrimp and Garlic Naan. The food was piping hot-temperature wise and arrived in take-out containers. So we needed to wait a few minutes for it to cool a little so we could eat it. Their ice maker wasn't working and the water was warm, so there was no cooling to be found there. When we finally tried the food, we were impressed. The spice-levels of each dish were as expected and the food was delicious! Unfortunately, in the Vindaloo, chicken was put in instead of the shrimp which we had ordered. But it was still good. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Garlic Naan as well. Overall, we were glad to have tried this place. The prices are comparable to other establishments of the same cuisine. However, the food is above average. We'll be back!
