Native is my go to when I want something light, healthy, delicious and guilt-free. The juices that I've had are all great, but my go-to are the superfood smoothie bowls. I've tried each, and all are good, but my favorite is the peppermint chip without the maple syrup. You can add three free toppings which adds a nice customized swing. I got the Buckeye Bowl which was a peanut butter and cacao base (with other yummy ingredients) and I added banana, cacao nibs, and chia seeds. The atmosphere is super Instagram worthy and the staff has always been friendly. My only qualm is that it's not super filling, but it's a juicery so you have to expect that. I would expect to pay $10 for a juice in LA or even Chicago--- but Columbus?! My juice was fine (the summer watermelon juice) -- but I am still overcoming my sticker shock. Plus not to mention the iPad gives you the opportunity to tip for the service (of handing you a bottle); the lowest option was 15% or $1.50. Bottomline: Native is too pricey for me. I first paid a visit around 6pm on a week day after work, only to find they had just closed. I called and learned that they're still trying to feel out their hours but would be open at 7am the next morning with all new juice. So, this time I made the trek before work - and I'm so glad I did! So far I've had the sweet green and strong beet, both of which are fabulous. I'm a big fan of incorporating greens into everything I eat, including juices and smoothies, but I know that's definitely not everyone's forte. However, the other flavors added are equally fresh and delicious so I recommend everyone tries it at least once! Perhaps it's all in my head, but I perked right up the morning I had that sweet green and felt remarkably rejuvenated. I almost didn't need my daily dose of dark roast! (Almost...) While I'm not sure I could turn this into the healthy habit I'd like it to be, partially due to price and partially because I still like to chew most of my calories, I'm definitely thrilled that these girls have brought such a wonderful new business into the Short North! I've been walking past the "coming soon" sign for most of the winter, and after seeing Bryant's post about magical juice that makes you feel better, I stopped in during this morning's chilly tromp around the Short North. It's a neat little shop with a lovely front window-lined seating area. There's a big chalkboard menu by the front register and a display case full of glass bottles. I didn't see "zinger" on the menu, so when I got to the register, I asked for "that ginger juice that's good for colds that I read about on Yelp," and she promptly produced a $5 glass bottle of apple/lemon/ginger juice, warning that it's pretty strong and that I might want to only drink half at a time (which was a valid warning -- I've been sipping it throughout the afternoon). I was a little surprised that everything is sold in glass bottles -- I wonder if they take the bottles back for recycling? I'm not sure I would come here to linger -- most people I saw were taking their bottles with them -- though it is prime people-watching space with those big front windows. I also hope that they get a sign on those front windows, or at least on the front door, which I almost walked past before realizing that was the front door. At $5 for the small bottle, I won't be making this a regular stop. But I will be coming here to pick up a "zinger" whenever I need to ward off "the sick." I had been super curious about the cold pressed juice trend that has seemed to be on the up and up in CBUS over the last year. Eventually, as it always does - curiosity got the best of me. Samba was the first juice I had - couldn't stop there....had to have Native. First of all, as superficial as it sounds, I HAD to have one of their super cool glass bottles. Not to mention - I had been aching to try a cleanse. After sampling their strong and sweet variations (both very good) I decided to go on and take the plunge. Surprisingly the juice keeps you pretty full. You begin getting hungry again after about 2-2.5 hours. I only did a 24 hour cleanse but I felt like that did the job - flushing the digestive track. Columbus was long overdue for Native Cold Pressed. I've been there two times (they've been open three days...) if that tells you anything. I met both of the owners, and they were equally helpful and knowledgeable in helping me pick a juice to try out. You can tell they truly care about their business and the community from their friendly demeanor and willingness to spend time on each customer. As far as the juices go, I will say that I'm more of a "sweet" girl (mostly because of my dislike of parsley and celery.) However, with that being said, my favorite so far has been the Spicy Carrot! It's got a little kick of cayenne to liven it up. I've also had the Strong Beet (if you love celery/parsley, this one is for you) and a daily Special Green juice, which was great! I stopped in on a chilly Sunday morning with my son to grab my liquid breakfast before we visited some other shops downtown. There are two things about Native that I simply love 1. FRESH organic juice. Incredible flavors that melted and evolved as perfectly as you can imagine 2. AWEOME glass bottles I am currently in love with I snagged a bottle of the Strong Green, & Zinga (I hope I spelled the name right) & My son opted for the Fresh Coconut Water The strong green has a flavor profile that truly evolves. It was much more than I expected & I was pleasantly surprised. Starting with strong notes of green kale, moving to bok choy, & finishing with light and refreshing celery. I recommend this juice to anyone who is a fan of all things green. Even my Son liked this one, we will likely try it again. The Zinga was the juice special of the day (I can never turn down a chef special) The lady running the counter recommended it as a immunity booster and describing it as a slow sipper. Considering I have been recovering from pneumonia over the past 3 weeks, the words "immune booster" got my attention. The juice was fantastic. The main flavor in this juice was ginger. A little bit of lemon and apple really balanced the sweet and spicy profile. I strongly recommend this juice to any ginger fans out there. Wonderful flavors that grab your attention and wont let go. Too spicy for my son, he dubbed it "spicy feather juice", and went back to his coconut water. The coconut water was also fantastic. The most noteworthy qualities would be the smooth texture. I keep trying to replicate the Native experience, and I just can't. Store-bought juice doesn't hold up. Some other juice bars are either pretentious, or use less-than-healthful ingredients. The ones that do get the juice/food right seem to lack a stellar atmosphere. Native tastes and feels fresh, healthy and inventive every single time. If I was made of $$$ (and lived closer to this location) I'd honestly be here every day. I'm sure some people are. It's that good -- and leaves you feeling good, too. The space itself is bright and inviting. I've visited on rainy days, and it's still vibrant and full of light. The staff are always friendly, and it always smells delicious. Be aware that this isn't the cheapest juice and food in town, but mental math tells me that if I purchased the ingredients and made my own, I'd still be out a pretty penny, so I don't feel like the prices are artificially high -- fresh food is unfortunately just pricier. Got a 16 oz juice to split with a friend, it was really delicious (even though it cost like $10). You can bring the empty glass bottles back for a discount on a subsequent visit which is nice. Their chocolate mint ball was a great afternoon snack although the banana one was a bit dry and crumbly ($3 each). Obviously this place is a bit expensive, and I was sort of surprised, but I'm used to these prices from places in DC so it wasn't a big deal. I didn't try their bowls or salads so I can't comment on those. I would check it out though- lots of juice flavor options and have things like cashew milk, etc. read more

My wife goes there every few weeks and loves their juices and bowls. I had no complaints until last night when we landed there at 5:49pm (their closing time was 6pm) and found the store closed, lights out and door locked. No idea why they decided to close it early. No note on the entrance explaining the reason(s). I've never experienced this with a "regular" restaurant that serves a "standard" fare, but have experienced it numerous times with vegan joints and now juice places too. Their concept is excellent.. Love the decoration and how simple the place is. I came to this place by now more than 5 times at least and more coming if they didn't change on how they do the juices and prices. I found their juices well balanced not too watery just perfect so please don't try to make it different and keep it at that quality. Nevertheless , what complete it is the glass bottles. They offer a $0.75 credit for each glass bottle that you return, which is pretty generous when you consider that states with a "bottle bill" offer only $0.05 or $0.10 (granted, these days they are mostly plastic bottles). My review is strongly accounting for two things, the price, and a comparison to home made. If I didn't have the will of a "do it yourselfer", the price would have been a bit more palatable. Don't let my curmudgeonly review deter you from trying this place, you should! Like a lot of people I've been inspired by movies such as "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead", "Fed Up" and "Food, Inc.". I've made a notable strides in my diet over the last five months. A large part of my diet has been substituting any "bread and meat" meals (IE subway) during the day since I work from home. Hence, green juice makes a good lunch for me, and "red/orange" juice a good breakfast. I invested ~$250 in a masticating juicer for home use early on (actually have had it for longer as i use it to make peanut butter and sorbet as well). I usually make close to a gallon of green juice for $15-20 with about half an hour of my time invested. I can't get all of my produce organic, but try to as much as possible. So as a price comparison, the "green grapefruit" 16oz juice I got was $12, or 75 cents per oz, compared to my DIY price of ~16 cents per oz for a similar mix. Now, I realize that employees, nice glass reusable bottles (that they credit you for returning), a primo storefront in short north, all organic produce and commercial juicing equipment makes the bills add up fast, but it's a bit much for me to be able to palate on a daily or even weekly basis. While the juice I got (green grapefruit) was tasty, well blended and balanced, I found it a bit watery and lacking in pulp that I enjoy at home. I didn't ask if they have a pulpier blend but assumed not. I would be quite interested if they sold pure unblended juice (IE kale juice) that I could save time with and make my own blends. Although I could see myself returning in the future if I was in the area and in a pinch, it's not going to be a destination for me. read more

Let me start by saying I love supporting local businesses and I love juicing, so this was a no brainer for me. But I've moved quite a bit and most cities have multiple juice 'bars'. So needless to say I've tried a lot. I walked in on a Friday afternoon and it was dead. The employee was very, very nice and attentive. He had me try almost all of there juices, which was a little much for my taste buds. The green juice which I was planning on getting but quickly decided against after taste testing it, tasted almost entirely of celery. I juice at home so I know that celery can really overpower a juice if you add too much. I ended up getting the apple, celery, fennel drink. It was $12 which is a tad overpriced. But I did love getting the glass. Overall I think they're juicing needs some work. I like the glass bottle though and think it's a nice touch. read more

People always have such a strong opinion on juice cleanses. You have the lunatics who love them and cleanse seasonally (I'm one of them); and then there are folks who think that it's just an expensive, masochistic way to crash diet. Which it can be if crash dieting is your agenda to begin with. But before juice cleanses became trendy and hip enough to be featured at music festivals, it was really about keeping it simple, low in fructose and allowing your body to heal - often from unhealthy diets and lifestyles. It wasn't until I browsed through Native's website and read their story (which had me charmed within the first 10 seconds); that I realized just how disordered juice cleanses really have become in the mass market. Native, which sources its produce locally, started in an almost karmic manner; when their founders met at a farm (seriously). The outcome was this unpretentious juice bar that has a single focus on bringing cold pressed, 100% raw, organic juices daily. I've tried pretty much all their low fructose juices (medium green and cooling herb being my favorites) and they're delicious! If you want a slightly non-scary option, try the sweet green which has a bit more fruit than I'd prefer but is a perfect mid afternoon pick-me-upper. The real winner is the amazing vanilla coconut shake. What a treat! The owners are lovely, and clearly have a strong yoga influence - partnerships with local studios alone will tell you that - but that has been so instrumental in creating this product that is more about nutrition, healing and supporting a local market as opposed to fasting your way to a flat stomach. Their outlook is sustainable, holistic and is definitely the way to go if you're looking for a detox or just want to incorporate raw juices into your life. Plus those bottles are so damn cute. My first visit to Native was a little bit over a week ago and they got me addicted right of the bat! I got their raw apple, zinger, special carrot on my first visit and fell totally in love with all of the three flavors. Deciding to be more adventurous on my second visit today I tried out new flavors: coconut water, sweet green, and sweet beet. There are still some flavors I haven't tried out yet, but so far I love all the flavors I tried. None of the flavor is too bitter/sweet for me, and none of them has nasty smell. Typically for green juice, they do have nasty smell and flavor, but that's not the case with Native's sweet green juice. From what it tastes to me they put more cucumber in it to make the taste not as bitter. My favorites so far are sweet green, just apple, and special carrot. All their juices are so fresh and they make their juices daily. Many people love their zinger juice. I do too, but personally for such a strong ginger taste, I think it's the kind of juice that's perfect to drink when you feel your throat and nose are not feeling great. The zinger juice will totally help you to clear your throat and nose and you'd feel like you can breathe again. I'm not even kidding. read more

I look for pressed juice places everywhere I go (Mostly western US). I like these places that use glass bottles. I liked the ability to add a shot of ginger to my juice. However, felt like there was not the variety I am used to seeing. I got a green juice, it was good.
