Terrible and dirty practice!!! A 94 year old lady hit her car to the home I was living, I was just 3 feet away from the side from the point of the hit!!! My camera and drone and phone were trashed, Some how I found my broken phone and called 911. Emergency service came and took care of every thing and told to leave the home and not habitable until a sound structural check. I left the place immediately. When I claim that lady's insurance (Nation wide) they realized I do not have lawyer. So they seriously played with me and told me from the property damage I will only compensated my phone since I have broken phone image. I gave all the pic and bills of my camera and drones to verify they were mine but since no one was allowed to go inside, I were unable to get the pic of my damage things, and they said, since I don't have pics of my damaged items they will not cover it at all. Sounds like even though your alive or died does not matter, you must have the pics of the damage. I also told her if they can cover at least half the price, but she said no-no-no. I feel it's important to shine a light on their bad faith handling of my claim so others are aware of what they may be dealing with when it comes to this company. In 2017, I was wrongfully arrested due to tortious acts committed by Sixt Rental Car Company, a policyholder of Scottsdale Insurance. Sixt falsely reported a rental car as stolen, which led to my arrest and a host of legal and personal problems that I've been fighting ever since. I filed a claim with Scottsdale for compensation because their insured's negligence resulted in defamation, false imprisonment, and malicious prosecution. These are serious legal issues that caused me significant harm--emotionally, financially, and professionally. Despite these valid claims, Scottsdale chose to deny my case based on an irrelevant exclusion of 'breach of contract.' This is where things went from bad to worse. The exclusion they cited had absolutely nothing to do with my situation. My claim was not about a contract dispute; it was about the defamation and wrongful actions that led to my arrest and ongoing struggles. Scottsdale failed to properly evaluate my claim, and instead of acknowledging their insured's wrongdoing, they hid behind a technicality to avoid paying what was rightfully owed. Insurance companies are supposed to act in good faith and assess claims based on the actual facts and damages. In my case, Scottsdale blatantly ignored their obligation to do so. Their decision to deny my claim has only worsened my financial hardships and added years of emotional distress to an already unbearable situation. They neglected their duty to cover the very claims that were supposed to be protected under the policy. What makes it even more disheartening is that Scottsdale and Nationwide present themselves as companies that care about their customers. However, when it came down to a legitimate claim like mine, their actions were anything but caring or supportive. Instead of doing the right thing, they chose to turn a blind eye to the real harm caused by their policyholder. If you or anyone you know is considering Scottsdale Insurance or Nationwide for coverage, please think twice. My experience shows that when it comes to standing by their customers, they may very well prioritize their bottom line over fair treatment and justice. I never imagined I would be in this situation, but it's become clear that Scottsdale is more interested in denying claims than in upholding the promises they make in their policies. I have 20 years plus experience with workers comp and have held high level positions at the nations leading brokers. Firstly, there is nothing unique about this company- they pride themselves on reviewing footage of workers and analyzing the risks using AI. If you were to send the same footage to a regional or national broker, they would evaluate the tape as well without any charge. Also, in looking at LinkedIn it doesn't appear any of their risk team is a certified risk manager. Given that they don't even write on their own paper I'd be very concerned about letting them handle a large client. Lastly, they claim to be the first AI powered WC carrier. Their website and app do not show bills when you receive email copies. this means when you go to pay your bill nothing is there to pay. For me I had a $90 balance and went to pay but couldn't. I forgot about it and one month later got a reminder with a $15 late fee. I asked them to remove it and then referred me to my broker. My broker was no help and said he would call next week, but then on Monday my policy was cancelled. Nationwide refused to reinstate me despite the clear effort to pay. We filed a homeowners claim in September of 2023 for roof damage due to a hail and windstorm. They have been nonresponsive and rude. They drag their feet and will not provide us with copies of their reports. The adjuster NEVER came out himself but they hired a third party. They only want to pay for minor repairs, make false accusations by claiming our roofing company came door knocking and the other damage to our roof and skylights was created by us or the roofing company. This is after our roofing company supplied a detailed assessment, pictures, storm reports, hired an engineer, shingle testing, etc. Now it is December and we still have missing, lifted and damaged shingles and damaged metal. I switched from Progressive to Nationwide for home owner's insurance. About 9-10 months in, I received an email with a google map photo of my property telling me I needed to get rid of the "debris" and "inoperable vehicles" on my property within 30 days or they would cancel my policy. We have zero "inoperable vehicles" on our property, and I'm not sure how a Google Map photos can tell you the operational status of a vehicle anyway, but, yes, we do have more vehicles than your ordinary city home would - why? We live in an area so rural the nearest major city is 5-6 hours away, and we might be what you call a "hobby farm" in that we raise animals and grow crops for ourselves - we just have to. We have a few farm vehicles and a tractor, all licensed and insured, as well as an RV, and a hearse that is my fun-mobile, because I love Halloween. I took a look at the google map photo and easily recognized exactly when it was taken as September. We set up a haunted house on the property for the local kids, because there are no Halloween activities in the area, and the haunted house was in the photo, half built, so I knew it was September. I got this email in January... so they were looking at things that were supposedly on my property 4 months earlier in summer, and its dead winter, and none of those things are in the same place! Also looking at the google maps photo, someone who had never been to our property could not have identified anything in that photo aside from a bunch of shapes. So I responded to the person who sent the email, "identify what items in this photo are "debris" and "inoperable vehicles" from an aerial shot 70 miles above it and we will gladly remove it if it is what you think it is." She sent a screen shot of the photo with items circled as needing to be removed, but couldn't tell me what they were, or identify them as "debris." She circled our beehives, a greenhouse, some raised garden beds, three chicken coops, a goat pen, a pig pen, our winter firewood - an acre away from the home, our trash area (we don't have trash service available, we have to haul it to the dump ourselves, and the storage area is well away from the house structure), a tractor, and... the Haunted House which wasn't even there anymore. The email stated if they didn't get wide shot photos of the circled things, they would cancel our policy. I'm not wandering around my acreage in the middle of January in Colorado taking pictures of things just to continue being judged from space - so I called Progressive, got back on that day, and told Nationwide to kiss off. Nationwide is not on your side, absolutely not on the side of rural Americans and farmers, and should rethink their customer service policies and their use of satellites to monitor people's homes and lifestyles. For a recent claim I had with them their adjuster, my insurances adjuster, and the police had all said it would be shared fault. Upon the completion of their "investigation" they cited a lack of "scuff marks" to my vehicle as to why they shouldn't have to pay. They have ridiculous rates. Well, well, well, let me see; where do I start with this TRASH of what they call an insurance company......I call back in October to get a quote for auto insurance, since my previous insurance company had went up on my rate. Nationwide quoted me a good quote if I used their DriveSync program. I accepted and they drafted my account for October and November payment. All of a sudden I call them to ask why my December payment had not been drafted yet? To my surprise, I was told that my policy canceled on 12/3 because they did not receive a vehicle ownership form back. I politely told the rep that no one contacted me about such a form. I was then told that the underwriting team will not reinstate my policy since it has been 10 days that I have not had insurance coverage.....ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Called around to other insurance companies to get a quote and they gave me high quotes because I supposedly have not had continuous auto insurance. I was rear-ended by another driver traveling at a high rate of speed as I was sitting at a light. The other driver was 100% at fault. Nationwide began hounding me to sign a medical settlement five days after the accident, as I was recovering from a concussion. I consulted an attorney and others who all said not to sign a medical waiver agreement. Medical impacts from an accident can appear months later, according to medical professionals. In fact, the statute of limitations in my state for reporting medical injuries is three years. Nationwide is now refusing to pay a minor medical bill from the accident, and they insist that I need to sign the waiver before they can pay anybody. In other words, they want to absolve the company of any future risk of claims by bullying me into signing this document. At the beginning, I was told that I didn't need to sign and that it wouldn't impact the settlement of medical bills. This is not the case. The person I'm dealing with changes the story as he goes along and uses underhanded, dishonest tactics, proving that they are only on their side, not yours. I'm Nationwide customer since 2018 and I never needed they for any accident or something similar. Since 30 ago, when my RV was stolen I'm having several problems with Nationwide. Despite of I'm being victim from a crime, looks like for Nationwide I'm being the main suspect. It's very frustrating and with sure it's giving me not only financial problems, but with sure some psychological damage since the adjuster/investigator, Brian Atwood, started to ask me for various information and documents that looks like as privacy invasions. I think they did all this to save time for not having my reimbursement. I sent all the required documents and evidences, even as, for example at July 8th, when I received an email from the company requesting my bank statement, phone registration with the last 30 days of call, air travel ticket when I traveled to buy the RV. They asked for an indefinite period for an answer, because I'm on investigation, but my clain investigator said by himself I should wait 30 days untill they shut down the car with total loss. For my surprise, today I received a call from the company saying the Police recovered my RV and arrested a suspect. It was my luck because for then everything indicates that I was the suspect and the criminal, thank God they found the criminal and he is trapped. But today came the best part. Even it have passed 30 days for the reimbursing being due, the surprise cames when they are forcing me to pay 8,000 dollars of park lot from the parking lot where the RV was found. Until today, Mr. Brian Atwood is saying that the responsibility is entirely mine and that they have nothing to do with it! But how so? They want to escape from all their responsibility, not paying the parking fees, and they probably won't want to pay me. I am customer since 2018. Nationwide is not on your side! If you think you are buying peace of mind, you are wrong. Here's my real-life nightmare that I am going through right now with Nationwide. My kitchen floor and cabinets were damaged due to a water leak. The Nationwide representative came in, assessed the damage, and issued me a check for $200 when the damages were significantly more than $50,000. Nationwide also arranged for the demolition of the floor almost immediately and were about to arrange the cabinet demolition too when I stopped them to confirm that they would pay for the full rebuild. They stopped responding. I did not hear from them for months, so I had to hold off on further demolition. I called several floor and cabinet vendors to obtain an estimate of the cost of the rebuild and once again sent Nationwide the full quotes from legitimate vendors, requesting their confirmation for payment of the rebuild. Again, there was no response and when they eventually called, they started pointing fingers at me for not allowing the demolition, which was due to their non-responsiveness. We once again had to escalate the matter and received a check in the mail for a quarter of the cost of the rebuild. We asked them to send in their own contractors who would rebuild my kitchen for their cost estimate and again there was no response! It's been a nightmare despite paying very high premiums for over ten years--they have chosen to ignore my pleas for help. My sister had a similar experience, but she is very impressed with how Amica handled her claim--Amica was very responsive and professional. So think again if you want to sleep well at night with good insurance backing you up. I will update this review if I do receive any relief from Nationwide. Until then, stay safe and stay away from Nationwide! read more

Homeowners Claim was submitted September 1, 2020, due to water damage. The damage was worth over $65,000. Nationwide recommended a contractor that subcontracted work out and both did a horrible job on the property. The subcontractors worked on the kitchen and the walls on the first floor. The walls weren't leveled The kitchen drawers do not open, miss-drilled holes on cabinet, the countertop was cut improperly, the kitchen sink cabinet was miss-cut and have layers of cocking. The cabinets mismatch and aren't leveled. I reached out to Nationwide and their manager wouldn't provide any guidance and at the end didn't respond to my email. I had to get the Department of Insurance involved and now the Department of Contractors. Nationwide forwarded the file to Crawford and Company who has transferred the file 4 different times. It honestly feels, that Nationwide has not consideration of their insured, will take your premiums but will leave you high and drive if you ever file a claim with the. There are many other Insurance companies that would never treat their insured this way. The house is still incomplete and have no guidance on how to get this corrected. The agent claimed only 1 company was available and would only accept 2 payments for a 6 month policy at $500+ per payment with a $650 down payment. Claimed no other options available. I knew that was a lie as I have had multiple quotes and was shopping around. Yesterday afternoon I walked into AAA and landed a full coverage policy. There was oil all over the undercarriage. Jiffy lube sent the manager to remove the oil filter from my car, I paid $114.00 for an oil change, and now it will coat me $10,000 more.,to replace a engine destroyed by Jiffy lube.
