I've been going to National Cycle for about 4 years now. They worked on my first bike, a 2004 Honda VTX 1300, and in the beginning I honestly had mostly positive experiences. Vanessa was always understanding, George is clearly knowledgeable, and even though turnaround times could be slow because of limited staff, the quality of the work itself was usually good. Over the years I continued bringing them my bikes because they're close to me and I trusted their mechanical work. I upgraded to an 03 VTX 1800 and had them do multiple jobs on it. Some of the pricing was extremely high -- close to a grand for heated grips installation and a very expensive exhaust install that only needed minor fabrication -- but I accepted it because I believed I was paying for quality work. That being said, electrical work definitely does not seem to be their strong point. I brought them a simple USB charger that I personally tested beforehand and somehow they still couldn't get it working properly. They also tend to wire accessories directly to the battery, which can easily lead to battery drain issues later on. Still, I stayed loyal. I understand motorcycle ownership isn't cheap, and I never expected bargain pricing. What finally pushed me to leave this review was how I was treated recently with a smaller vintage Honda CM450 I acquired. I explained to Vanessa and George that I really wanted to restore the bike and just needed help cleaning the carbs and getting it running right. At first they hesitated, then eventually agreed and told me to bring it the following week. I arranged a tow truck, called ahead like they asked, and suddenly it became "we're too busy, come back in two weeks." I waited again, arranged another tow, came back, and then was basically told they didn't want the job at all. That honestly rubbed me the wrong way. They know I'm a young rider working full time while going to school full time. I'm not someone throwing Harley money around -- I'm just a kid who genuinely enjoys motorcycles and wanted to keep an old bike alive. The impression I got is that if the job isn't highly profitable, they don't really want to deal with you, especially during busy season when bigger-ticket customers are coming in. I would've gladly given this shop 4 stars based on my past experiences, but after this situation I can't recommend them the same way anymore. read more

I was almost skeptical after reading some of the reviews here, but I also checked Google reviews and they have an outstanding record. Actually, glad that I brought my bike here. They came highly recommended from several people, had a new tire installed, and my rear brakes repaired, service was quick and extremely reasonably priced. This is the worst shop you can go to, the receptionist is the worst person, she don't have a clue and she will charge you for the things that are not needed and not tell you either , also no pricing up front I dropped the bike after the whole Month no pricing and all of a sudden the bike is ready with a hefty bill and the things a I needed weren't done but extra things that were not Needed were done , no clue about the bill just made up a bill and asked me to pay, be careful about the fork seals she will try to put that on you so she can charge extra , I called the dmv and I will also complaint to better business bureau. , don't leave your bike there at all read more

I change my 5 stars to 1. I would put negative 1. Took my bike to get inspected, went inside and to get the inspection person. Came out, the lady said my bike had a flat in one second. I just put air in it. A guy came from across the street and said it had a flat. It was very suspicious. They immediately tried to charge me 115 for a front tire. (There was no nail / no signed of damage). Plus they do not patches. I left. This was way too suspicious. Never bringing my bike back here. This place was great, now it out right dangerous. I cannot leave my bike without someone touching it with out me knowing. People be aware!! read more

Took my bike here to get work done and customizations. I don't have it in me to share all the details. But here's the major points: 1. My bike was not ready anywhere near the estimated date of completion. It was ready a month later than the date. 2. I requested powder coating. The color I requested was not available so they took it upon themselves to use a color they thought was similar and expected me to not notice. 3. They did major work on my sensors and whatnot but did not test the bike before giving it to me. Which resulted in me breaking down a block away. 4. They will find everything else "wrong" with the bike before assessing what you asked them to do. I will not be returning. read more

The person at the front desk very carelessly, second time I come to this place, the first time their charge me for OEM parts wich was not, the bike was not even registered at the moment and even like that their told me that was an inspection charge, (their told me to come back for the sticker once the bike was registered) second time I came was for a delicated job wich envolved a very cheap small parts replacement, and this person at the desk told me Tha we need to replace the entire part (when no one inspected the bike at that moment) I denied to what she offered and clearly I saw in her face uncomfortableness and she turn around without giving me options to work with. If you don't know anything about bike or mechanic you'll be easy prey. read more

Brought my bike in after an accident they had the bike for over 2 months didn't order parts didn't start to repair. Then after 2 months they call telling me they missed a cracked crank case! How do you miss that?! Horrible customer service for 3 weeks Venessa told me the parts will be in Friday and my bike will be ready for pick up Wednesday. As a new member of the motorcycle riders club, I wanted to find a bike shop to call my own. At first sight the place is legit, tons of beautiful bikes and constant foot traffic. I've had my bike 2 weeks now and when I got it the rear indicators didn't work. They "fixed" it!! When I got home one of the indicators was loose, I touched it and it fell off Called nations the next day and no problem come in!! Well they made me wait 2 hours once I got there to tell me that the indicators they put on didn't belong on my bike. Fantastic!! They would have to order a set and they would arrive within 3 days, so for three days I couldn't indicate. Why would a reputable business do something like that? Put something that obviously doesn't belong on my bike and it's a safety feature!! 3rd visit lasted almost 3 hours to do what I know couldn't take even an hour. Handed me my bike, I didn't offer a thank you and they sure as hell didn't deserve one. Truly horrible experience. P.S they didn't even deserve the one start. read more

I was able to sell my motorcycle quickly and easily by having it on display in their showroom Vanessa was a big help and George has been servicing my motorcycle for years I've never had a problem with them and George does spectacular paintwork recommend checking them out just sorry to say not everyone can have the same experience that I have with them. read more

Great motorcycle shop with fast and friendly service took care of my tire replacement with out issue same day. fair prices and good people

Horrible customer service. Dishonest, disrespectful. Very unhappy with their service. Mis quoted price for tuneup. Had my bike for 16 days which is ridiculous. Still unresolved issues with the bike but I will NEVER let them touch my bike again. It's ashame that there are people like them that exist in this world. They were very cold and uncaring. They got their money that's all they care about. Other reviews have been filtered and that is ashame. This is 1 of 2 of a filtered review. On or about August 17th I contacted Nations Cycle and spoke to the manager to get a quote on service for my motorcycle (a 2011 Ducati Monster 796 ABS). The shop manager asked what the make and model was and what needed to be done. I gave her the make and model and informed her that the bike was due for its 7,500 mile service. The icon (a picture of a wrench) on the dash display had come up letting me know it was due for service. She asked me to hold on while she checked to see what the 7,500 service entailed. She came back on the phone and informed me that this would involve a fluid check and replacement and changing of the timing belts as well as a tune up. The cost, I was told, would be around $430.00 and it would have to be in the shop around 2 to 3 days. She asked me to give a call back a couple of days before I took the bike in so that she could order the necessary parts. I called the shop back on August 23rd to let them know I would be bringing it in on August 28th. I spoke to the same manager and was told this would be fine. On August 28th I dropped the bike off and filled out the paperwork. The lady that took my information, this was not the same manager but another staff person, told me that they would get to work on the bike and if there was any extra work that needed to be done I would be contacted prior to doing it to let me know what it was and the cost and obtain my approval. She informed me the bike would be ready on 8/31 or 9/1. I never received a phone call and on 9/4 I contacted the shop again to check on the status. I spoke with the manager again and she told me they were just waiting on an air filter that should come in that day and the bike should be ready at the end of the day and I would get a call letting me know it was ready for pickup. On 9/5 I received a call from the same manager and told that the bike was ready to go. I asked what time they would be open until on 9/6 so that I could go pick it up and the total price on the work. She told me that the total was $845.00 and that they closed at 7:30. When I heard the price I was incredulous. I asked why it was practically double what the original quote was when I had gotten no communication that any extra work would have to be performed. She told me that when they opened the bike up they noticed that belts needed to be changed and they had to be ordered and some other work needed to be done so they went ahead and did it. Again I inquired as to why I was not contacted prior to this as they said they would when I dropped the bike off. She said she was sorry. . I told her that they knew going in what needed to be done for the 7,500 mile service as she told me this at the onset and that a price of double the original quote was ridiculous without prior approval. She agreed and again apologized. At this point I had been on the phone for about 30 minutes without any sort of resolution. She finally said she would drop the price to $745.00 which was still $315.00 more than the original quote received. What could I do? They had my bike and I wanted it back. I told her I would go get it on 9/6 to pick it up. At this point I should add that I live in Astoria, NY and the shop is in Hempstead, NY. I could not get a ride there so I had to leave work early and take a one hour train ride to the closest station and walk to the shop. I did this on 9/6 and when I arrived at the shop I spoke to the same manager again. she was sorry for not contacting me about the extra work and dropped the price to $700.00. I was not that happy but payed and went around back to retrieve my bike. I turned the bike on and the first thing I I turned the bike on and the first thing I noticed was that the "wrench icon" that signaled service was needed was still showing up. This had not been reset. I was dumbfounded that the "needs service" icon was displaying when the bike had just been serviced?! . After all this extra time and extra money they wanted me to come back. I explained that I had taken the train out there. I had no other means of getting home, there was no way that the bike had been test driven or they would have noticed the icon was not reset and noticed the ABS light was not shutting off. He admitted that they had not. I told him that I had come out from Astoria on the train. I was supposed to go to Massapequa Park and then back home. This was not possible by train. His response was ... "S__t happens." "wow" right? 16 days later I got the Bike, the light is still on. read more

I bought a bike over there and the bike had electronic issues so I took it back for them to look at it and they told me everything was fine with the bike, soon as I drove the bike out the parking lot the bike shut down, they all money hungry and liars I would not recommend this place at all. LETS SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE THAT THEIR UNPROFESSIONAL, DII have been faithfully supporting Nations Cycles for over 10 years. While the work is ok, they do a great deal of game playing, i.e., cat and mouse games, which can be very frustrating, especially when you're playing with a man's horse!!! Well each year their service declines!!!!! I've spent over $50,000.00 in repairs and upgrades over the years. Most recently this is my last experience... I dropped my 2008 Suzuki M109R off in early October 2012 and gave Vanessa a 1,000.00 down payment to do a Sumo X Fat tire kit, Raked out triple trees, more neon lights, custom fender, and to chrome out the miscellaneous parts that havent already been chromed. I made it clear that I wanted my bike by late April, because I know how crazy it gets for Myrtle. And, just like all the years that preceded this year. She waited until the last minute to order parts that were paid for, and should have been in Nations posession no later than February 2013. With the exception of the Sumo x, which i relatively recently decided to include. Today is May 17, 2013. I went there the day before yesterday, and they havent even STARTED on my bike. Yet their business is filled with Myrtle Beach/beginning of season rush. And to add insult to injury....not even an apology. They are absolutely the worst. They try to overcharge you, work done in a rushed manner, resulting in returns due to poor workmanship. If an item is online for say 129.00, they are charging you 199.00. Case and point, I spoke to the owner of CustomDynamics.com, and grant assured me that if I ordered the fender kit from him, he would take 10% off the price. I communicated this to Vanessa in no uncertain terms. She had the nerve to try to charge me more than the original price, stating that its too late,we already paid for it!! Some nerve.Let me tell you. If i could get a part for $1,200.00, trust me a dealer could get a better price. I mean, we're talking about a steady customer. Ive brought them tons of business by word of mouth and by just being a mobil billboard, if you will. Next, I bought a custom fender to accomodate my 21 inch front wheel. The old fender which has extension brackets ($120.00). I listed the old parts online to sell to try and offset my repair cost. I found a buyer, and when i go to pick up the fender, George tells me, "We threw it away because it was cracked!!!!" What kinda BS is that?? I will tell you....THEY SOLD IT!!! This is an example of a few of their practices. Their attitude clearly demonstrates that they neither respect, nor value their customers. Very poor service. Lot of games being played and the reason is one of three things; overbooking or laziness or both. Still waiting to see a bike they're selling that was supposed to have been ready to run for me by this past weekend. After being assured the bike would run, both the previous week and midweek again, I find that I had wasted my gas again to hear excuses and indifference. Brought my sportsbike in for routine service to begin the 2018 riding season ( May 2, 2018 ) Inspection, full service, rear brakes. Bike remained in shop for approx. 1 month while other bikes took priority. During such time my bike alarm was activated and instead of calling me immediately to bring remote to deactivate it they let it ride out until the battery went completely dead. Also during the time frame bike was outside waiting to be serviced it rained consistently and bike alarm seemingly got messed up. Long story short I was on the hook for a new battery, my alarm was no longer working , bike carbon fiber was full of water spots from rain, a custom air valve colored cap was missing, new fairing had slight scratch on it and nobody owned up to anything. Will never trust my bike to them again. THIS SHOP IS SLOW AND GEORGE HAS NO HELP. AMATURES WORKING ON YOUR PRECIOUS BIKE. HIS WIFE VANNESSA IS A LIAR AND CANT GIVE ANSWERS TO SIMPLE QUESTIONS. LIED ABOUT SENDING MY ALARM BACK TO SCORPION AND THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY OF SCREWING UP. YES! Just as good as it gets! This place is amazing. I brought my brand new, 2012 GSXR 750 for an oil change and detail. They had my bike in and out in 25 minutes and the bike was glowing. They have had both my bike and my father's bike in their shop several times. They have kept both of our bikes forever supposedly "fixed" them and then by the time we got home both bikes had the same problem we had brought them in for still! Oh and they complained about keeping our bikes for so long yet that's how long they took to "fix" them! Makes no sense, go figure! My bike's problem was simply fixed by tightening the battery by myself.... Let me tell you there's nothing funner than cruising along and having your bike randomly cut out. We gave them the benefit of the doubt on that one and let it slide but now a summer later when they supposedly fixed my dad's bike and the same thing happens I mean c'mon! Both of us paid for services none of which actually fixed the bikes. Time to find a new shop that's for sure! They also are extremely rude when you call them to tell them the bike was not fixed and talk to you like you must be an idiot and are just imagining problems with your bike! Never again! read more
