Cole is super friendly also and good with kids. The receptionist is great. Dr. Leverett is really thorough and also very responsive on email, which was impressive!! The staff also is great on email, even on days they are closed. They also are great at fitting both children in together and getting us in last minute. Only negative is that sometimes the wait is a little long and inside the room, there's nothing for kids to do (a puzzle or book would be a nice addition). Last time, in the waiting room, someone turned on the local news on loud. My 8 year old now has questions about how a child's body was found and couldn't sleep!! We don't let then watch the news yet and that's not an appropriate channel to have on with children in the waiting room. My husband went outside with my daughter when they turned it on but it was too late. Next time we'll ask them to change it but they turned it on and walked away so there was no one to ask The time prior my 4 year old was there, The View was on and they were talking about inappropriate sexual content. I know this was an inadvertent oversight but something to be mindful of with children patients. Some child activities would be a nice addition in the waiting room as well.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I will say, their frames and contacts are expensive. I usually just get my prescription and order what I need online.

The office itself can be a pain to get into as it is on the corner of Battlefield and Kempsville, but once you are inside, the pride and care in their practice is obvious. The waiting area is open and bright, and the glasses looking/fitting are is bright, warm, and inviting. I showed up about 10 minutes early to my appointment and was called back on time. I opted to have the retinal imaging as opposed to the standard eye dilation, and was surprised at the cost as it was $5-$10 more expensive than my kids' optometrist. I will say, the doc was thorough and listened, and did not seem rushed to get me out of the office. I received a good discussion on the results of the exam, and then was given everything I needed to request a referral from my primary care for follow up appointments. Overall a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend them.

I was quickly taken back to an initial exam room while the tech gathered all my deets (my appt was 10am Thursday) and while she introduced herself the Dr did not. Seeing as how he's the only one it was a given I would know who he was. I felt very comfortable with him and I would have given his office were it not for the 2 staff interruptions during my examination. One of which took him away for what seemed like 10 minutes. I understand he's the only Dr on staff but my time is just as valuable and with the exception of death or an emergency my appointment shouldn't have been interrupted for someone else's. There is an optical shop attached and I found my new glasses but I thought the plastic frames were a bit costly at $230. Would I go back? Yes but if the next visit has multiple interruptions I'll have to replace him.
