Krista was there to educate the attendees on creating an effective Individual Educational Plan (IEP) and 504 Plan. Her knowledge of IDEA law, IEP's, and the school system is impressive. We left that meeting with a lot of information but it was obvious to us we lacked the amount and years of experience Krista obviously has. We contact My Educational Solutions to ensure the best possible IEP. Best decision ever! So far Krista's support has made a huge difference. She's a force to be reckoned with when in advocacy mode. During our meeting she was focused, attentive, proactive, catching possible misrepresentations, and pointing out legal rights under IDEA law. Had she not been in attendance one IEP would have had an unmeasurable goal, with no way to track progress. I would have never thought to question that. Krista had the entire IEP team brain storming what system and material they were going to use to implement that goal and measure progress. I especially like that Mrs. Barth doesn't rush to finalize the IEP, she wants it done right, quality not quantity. I will most definitely continue acquiring these services as my children grow and their needs change. Communication was inconsistent--appointments were missed or late--and there was no follow-up. I only learned two weeks after the PPT that I had run out of time for one. Her tone in the meeting was not collaborative, which she indicated was her approach. I wouldn't recommend if you are out of state.

The care they provided, the feeling of trusting my birth team/myself/my baby/my husband, playing an active role, the calm of the room, the freedom of movements, the bath tub, shower felt so good and all the accessories to help made this experience incredible for our family. Its been a year and I still can't believe how powerful, positive, calm, joyful and agreeable this experience was I felt my baby, husband and I were in control of the birth with the greatest support team. It was the perfect combinaison of a home birth with guidance and feeling safe that if something happen you have the care you need and if anything more serious happen you are just across the hospital. I knew that Dr Sancetta is an exceptional doctor and the staff of the birth center would come with me and advocate for me too if it was needed. I cannot thank enough Dr Barryer, Anna and Lily to have made this experience so incredible for us. My husband wasn't sure what to expect from a natural birth and he really enjoy to be part of it and even catch the baby and he wouldn't make it any other way if we have more babies. From the beginning, I felt misled about costs and insurance coverage. I paid thousands of dollars out-of-pocket, only to later find out that my insurance had already covered the prenatal care they billed for. When I asked for a refund for services they never provided -- including delivery and postnatal care -- I was denied. Lily and Anna made sure to have these conversations over the phone and not through email so there was no paper trail. The prenatal care itself was lacking. I often felt the facility was lacking, personally unsupported, and not given the thorough information or guidance I expected. Once my care had to be transferred to the hospital (because I was past 42 weeks and legally could not deliver at the center), I received no real support or follow-up from the birth center. The "holistic" and supportive experience they promise was simply not there. In the end, I felt deceived, financially taken advantage of, and left without the compassionate care every mother deserves during such an important life event. Families considering Miami Holistic Birth Center should be very cautious -- ask for every detail in writing, especially about costs, insurance coverage, and what happens if you need to transfer. My experience was the opposite of empowering and supportive, and I would not want another family to go through the same.

I sincerely wish I would have found her for my first pregnancy (I found her for my second pregnancy). The medical system and your traditional OB provider will never even have the time to explore such topics with you and it's not information that can just be picked up off the internet. I'm so happy that Eyla and her team, it was such a necessary investment that will empower you and leave you feeling supported in every way no matter what kind of birth experience you choose. Last year my daughter, started high school, needed help in math as she was struggling and apparently did not have a solid foundation from her middle school. When #2 appointment rolled around she was very rude during their meet and greet hour and kept speaking over my son, not allowing him to speak. I tried a couple of times to tell her what he was saying and she began to silence me by telling me that she can only take answers from the child. To which I advised, I'm only saying exactly what he was trying to tell her. She proceeded to tell me that her volume is all the way up and she hears me clearly, so... It got to the point where my son stop answering her with his words and began using hand signals. During their meet and greet she revealed that she had been a elementary teacher for 8yrs -i cannot understand how. My 9yr old son, who is a people's person with an outdoor personality was very unengaged. She did not capture him in the slightest. She was more interested in using the 45mins they had together to tell him of her trips to Latin America with her family and her love for making music, then to to figure out how to capture my son's attention and keep him engaged. My goodness -I can go on and on about how badly the lesson went. Can you believe this woman began the lesson by yawning and telling my child she was feeling tired from staying up too late the night before RIGHT AFTER my child told her he was feeling EXCITING about starting tutoring. Then she had the audacity to cancel all future appointments with my child at the beginning of their next appointment with NO notice. The experience with this company has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional.

I wish that they would be able to expand to offer their outstanding services in other major south Florida cities that are critically in need of a program like the WOW Center. They offer art, music, technology classes and take their clients on field trips as well other fun community events.
