It's ridiculous to be charged over $900 for a one day car rental 4 months later. Then when I called to ask why I was being charged, they said I smoked in the car. How do you charge someone 4 months later!! Then, I have asthma!!! I DO NOT SMOKE!!! I will be suing these people for way more than$900!!! This has compromised my bank account and all of the bills that this account pays!!! I have spent several hours trying to get this resolved and guess what it still isn't!! My account is overdrawn because of this and it has affected my credit. I hope charging me $900 for a one day car rental was well worth it!! This is the worst place to rent a car from!!! DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS CAR RENTAL IN DOTHAN, ALABAMA UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CHARGED IMPROPERLY!! I returned the car the next day because it was a horrible car. Wasn't charged for it in December 2025. Was 5 min late due to traffic , business was closed. Although I don't think it is offered I felt that a courtesy call shouldve happened ( me being optimistic). And a competitor agent told us that the Avis agent left early. So out of the 3 agents there only 1 was open and available. And I really did not want to do business with another competitor but had no choice. If there is no way that we can't rent a car at 6 or after then it needs to be taken off on the website for that location. I understand this is a corporation change and again I'm being optimistic but Avis is beginning to turn in to enterprise in my opinion. It has put a bad taste with me. But we will see what will happen on the next time.

I called before the appointment to confirm and after I checked in at the body shop. Same story they are on the way soon. If I had known they were this unprofessional I would've made alternative arrangements to get dropped off at the store for the rental. No calls from them with an eta & to think I still have to go there to do all the paperwork for the rental. I wouldn't recommend them at all at this point. if they can't handle a simple pickup I know the rest of the process will take longer than estimate. Update after finally getting picked up. The process is as smooth from there. The reason for the initial issue the first representative didn't know I was onsite at the shop is what he said. I don't know how that's the case but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He apologized. The driver who picked me up was the reason for the increase in stars. He was professional and personable.

Shelby had several one liners that were "clean" and had the lobby customers laugh out loud! Even joking about one gentleman's hat (Georgia Bulldog). They were so busy, and actually low on rental cars, but they were managing returns and check out as quickly as possible, keeping everyone informed. Pedro at checkout was detailed and thorough and I simply appreciated he followed the script. I will definitely rent from here again should I have a need when in Dothan, Alabama.

The problem was when the corporate office called Hertz Rental Car in the Airport to switch the car out because I was on a donut. The woman that the customer service person talked to was a think this chick named Amanda. According to the customer service rep Amanda agreed to switch my car out and it wouldn't be any problems. I got there and IT WAS A DIFFERENT STORY! First these people that run that place is very prejudice. The reason why I say that is I came there well dressed and the expression on her face was priceless. She was slow as Christmas first of all but at FIRST she was cordial. I could tell it was just going to be a problem because she told me she couldn't switch me out so she had to call her Manager Sue Bell to get an approval on the switch. I didn't have a problem with it until the so called Manager (a real bitch) came to the desk. The woman was pissed off because she had to come from across the street and do the "manual approval" her attitude stunk! And she rolled her eyes at me several times for whatever reason. (Mind you I don't even know these folks). I told her what had happened to me and she told me that she didn't believe that I would come here to switch the car out. I said look lady I called the customer service office and she called and spoke with Amanda themselves and she said it was OK for me to switch the car out. Amanda then turns to the boss and said I didn't know about that... I didn't understand what the corporate office was saying to me! I was like you got to be kidding!!!!!! Then the country bumpkin manager tells me I don't think she understood what the person was callling about either. I said what is it to understand? I had a flat tire because the car I had had a faulty tire and I am switching it out! She then asked me well do you have a case number? I said no! what case number. the manager says well in order to "move forward" we have to have a case number! I said i don't have it. she was pissed that she had to call the customer service desk herself and get the number. I think she thought i was lying about the whole thing! But that was just a small part of the incident. She actually thought this is 1955 and I am Rosa Parks and I am suppose to "bow down" to her or something. I was very professional and they couldn't get with the fact that there was someone that could talk over them that was black. I could see that they were very very prejudice! She told me that I was disrespecting her and Amanda because I asked them for their bosses name and contact number. I told them you don't have to give it too me because the corporate office will here about it. It took them damn near 2 hours to get me in a car. I told them that if they were in Atlanta, Dallas, Boston, New York, they would get fired for just being so damn slow! After I finally got the keys and I was subjected to the smart Alic comments of Sue Bell the Bitch I asked Amanda to do a look over with the new car. She said "we don't do that" i said what? every hertz does that! she said "this isn't every hertz" Then the bitch manager tells me we aren't like the other hertz! I was like wtf? Asking for an affordable and reliable SUV for my family. Instead, I got a vehicle I bought two weeks before my baby was born and got the run around that they were doing routine maintenance on it. I did not see it until the day my baby came home. Then when we cranked it the engine made a weird sound. The guy said it was intermittent and not an issue. Bring it back if we need to. Month later while driving my four kids and nephew the power steering completely goes out. I almost wreck. I had to buy a new pump $500 total. Two weeks after my baby and I are driving and the car almost flips and almost kills me and my newborn!!!!! Pump went out again!!!! I read up power steering issues are the main issues with Chevy Traverse. So my car is down because I can't afford another repair and car payment too. On top of this the car is not safe to drive and my engine has gone out too! Apparently that sound we told the dealer about was the engine going!!!! The maintenance they did only further damaged the engine. Because the oil Dothan Rental Car Sales put in it was the lowest quality almost like water oil for a V8 engine that you can put in a SUV. So I now need a new pump $300, engine $4000.000 and labor $2000.000 I am a single mother with four children. I work for a living in social work. I have an honorable job but the people who sold me this piece of junk I have to pay for monthly and only drove 4 weeks before breaking down are liars! I called and the man told me we can't help you. But you helped yourself to my hard earn money and my innocence when selling me crap! WORDS CAN NOT EXPRESS HOW HURT I AM THAT I WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF LIKE THIS. And my entire family suffers. This is a veteran owned business. They were extremely helpful and accommodating. There was an error on our bill after we dropped off the vehicle but they were very quick to fix it.
