A good place if you're looking for Thai around Elmhurst. It has a pretty big menu for such a nondescript place. Nathan's Noodles has a pretty big variety. Certainly there's noodles but there's still lots more. The prices are good and there's lots of choices for vegetarians. Finding it takes a good look. It's located in a strip mall. The place doesn't look like much. On the outside it's pretty boring. The inside isn't much better except for some random ornaments on the walls. Most people get carryout it seems, making the interior not that important. The place has some lunch specials. I was around at the time and decided to come in. The entree I got was the Pad Kee Mao. It's about $10 for the lunch special. The lunch specials comes with a soup which isn't vegetarian. Better to just get the full dinner entree. This is the same price and you get a bigger plate. Get here for some big and cheap portions of Thai food. It of course has noodles. There's lots of items that can be made vegan and vegetarian so just ask to leave out eggs and fish stuff. read more

Very expensive. It was very good but honestly $65 for two dishes, crab Rangoon and fried rice and an ice tea is just unreasonable for Thai food. Unassuming store front restaurant in a little mini strip mall. Clean and tidy inside and the staff was nice. I ordered from the Lunch menu....got the Pad Thai with BBQ Pork and an egg roll. Nice flavor, but not mind blowing. Just solid food with a great price ($9). The Pork was actually nice and there could have been more to round out the dish. If I could give them three and a half stars, I would for the egg roll and the dishes they used. The egg roll was nice and crispy, with great flavor. Should have gotten an order of those. This is my pick for Asian cuisine in the Elmhurst/Villa Park area. Never been disappointed. This time for lunch I had their Shrimp tempura appetizer and cucumber salad as an entree. Hot, crispy and delicious , and with all the tempura fried vegetables it was plenty. Loved the peanut vinaigrette it was served with. Brought home an order of the Vietnamese Pho, could use more layers of flavor in the broth, but enough for 2. Can't wait to go back. read more

Sorry to have to downgrade my review. Been coming here for years - maybe since 2005 and always loved the food, services and prices. Stopped in before taking my nephew to O'Hare yesterday evening. It was hot and humid - no A/C on - was like a sauna in there. That happens - I understand if the A/C was out. But add to it the fact that the food was a little blah - first time ever. We got a paper take-out menu instead of a real menu - just one of the things that made me wonder if the place is under new ownership - which it is not. And the prices? - wow they have gone UP! 4 pieces of tasteless chicken satay @ $7.99. Most entrees are over $10 - curries are $12 to $13? What happened to $8.99 entrees? And they used to offer a 5% cash discount and not you need to spend $40 to get the 5% off. Just take the sign down and forget the 5% - lower the entree prices instead or fix the A/C. Sorry, as much as I have loved Nathans, the love affair is over. I will still come here when my nephew is in town but that is about it. I can get better Thai fare at much better prices. Delicious Pad Thai and veggie fried rice are two of my favorites! Never greasy or Americanized. This is authentic and amazing!

There are new owners since I used to frequent Nathan's and they were closed for several months, so I was nervous trying them again. But we did a to go order and it was ready right on time, well packaged. The portions look small at first but they are more than enough! Their egg rolls are my favorite of any place I've ever eaten, crispy and the filling is so good. Their Pho has a nice kick to it, though it's a bit more red in color than the beef broths I'm used to. Their chicken noodle soup is my favorite, and I cannot pass up their beef fried rice with extra veggies. So glad it the quality of food hasn't gone down with the new owners after the long hiatus and now a pandemic, I love this place so much! read more

Honestly INCREDIBLE. Super fast, the service was awesome and prompt, soup came free of charge by surprise, and the prices were perfect. Now what really matters, the food!! I have had a lot of Thai, and the panang curry I ordered was out of this world. Full of flavor, savory, great quality meat not smelly or tough in any way, piping hot and fresh. Couldn't honestly be happier with my new Thai lunch spot. Would highly recommend. Update 7-14-19. I'm highly inclined to believe the management has changed as the usual complimentary soup was not included and I was forced to order upfront at the cashier instead of a normal waiter or waitress serving. Nathan Noodle is just a small local Thai place in a crummy little strip mall. Don't let the name or the appearance fool you. I've stopped here for lunch and can tell you Nathan's has pretty darn good food and perfect service. I have had the Pad Thai and my wife has had the Pad See Ew. Both good. If you come at lunch and eat in, expect free soup with your lunch special too. A bit weird, they have a 5% surcharge to pay with your plastic. Bring cash and save a buck. read more

I really wanted to support local places during this time but this will not be one of the places I support...i saw the great reviews of how fresh the food was so I decided to order. What I got was old meat (small strips that looked like scraps and full of fat) the broth was greasy and tasted over seasoned as if we're old...bean sprouts were clear and had a slime on them to top it off the "fresh basil" was wilted full of slime and breaking down. If you are trying to stay open and food is going bad better to take it off the menu than serve old food.... read more

I feel bad giving a bad review but I just ordered uber eats from here for the first time and was less than impressed. I ordered the crab rangoons and "wonton egg noodles". Rangoons were good, tasty and I ate them all. Liked the sauce! however, the wonton egg noodles were hardly edible. The noodles themselves were fresh and yummy, but the wontons were 1.) not shrimp as advertised, pork 2.) so mushy the dough was falling off. The pork slices were gray and i didn't even try to eat them because they looked bad. The meat inside the wontons also looked like it was old and bad, tasted unpleasant. Attached pics. It's very rare for me not to finish a meal when i'm this hungry, but i couldn't stomach wonton noodle soup. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's cute on the inside. The dining area was clean and the staff were nice. I can at lunchtime and it wasn't too busy. My food arrived promptly and had a great presentation. I loved the leaf designed dish ware and that the teapot had a small spoon for stirring. I ordered the mini egg rolls (15 rolls). They are mini and were small but good. You could taste the shrimp but nothing else. Although I ordered from the main menu the lunch menu looked good and had a decent selection. I ordered Nathan's Fried Rice. The presentation was nice The flavor was ok. There was a sweetness on the back end that was unusual, but not bad. The chicken and beef were a bland. As many reviewers have said not a lot of umph to say "WOW that was delicious". Since I ordered their house special rice I was hoping for something will real flavor. I also ordered it Thai hot. The heat was ok. There was heat but not the flavor unless you bit into the jalapeño. Since I'm visiting the area not sure if I'd come back. Ok, I am not a Thai food expert. I know Italian like the back of my hand, but Thai is another story, yet I've had my fair share of eating it... Nathan's has been around for some time and I was just now hearing about it? It's not really visible off of York Road in a small strip, with small signage, yet its down the street from my nail salon, so how did I miss this place? moving on.... My friend mentioned Nathan's after a visit to our nearby salon, so I thought, why not ask the Asian girls working here if they've ever tried? So I asked, and her response was "I've been twice, it was ok...it is not authentic." Figured she knows a helluva lot more about Asian cuisine than I do.. Well, I still wanted to try it anyway, so we did. I'm ok with Americanized Thai.. Around 7:30 on a weekday, this place was busy...not slammed busy, but a good amount of diners...we placed an order to go (she had a sick child at home and I had things to do) and had to wait about 25 minutes to pick-up...I was surprised by the long wait considering our order..no biggie. I really wanted soup at first, but then decided on a Pad Thai dish instead. I went with the Lard Nar w/chicken ($9) and egg rolls and dumplings. The inside of Nathan's is cozy. It felt warm. Casual but tastefully decorated. I did overhear a customer ask for a glass of wine, and heard they don't serve wine here. Not sure if they have a liquor license or not, or maybe they offer beer, but just not wine....good question. My lard nar was just O.K. Upon opening container I noticed a lot of brown sauce, almost too much for my liking. Broccoli, carrots, baby corn & mushrooms covered my wide rice noodles. Good amount of perfectly cooked veggies and tender chicken.... The sauce didn't lack in flavor, yet it lacked depth and nothing stood out flavor wise... I'd describe it as a 'one note' dish and probably wouldn't order again, not that it was bad.. that said, I enjoyed the al dente veggies the most. The egg rolls consisted of a light chicken, cabbage & noodle filling. What I loved most about these - the crispy exterior. Reminded me of Jade Dragon's (I love their eggrolls), but lighter. You get 3 nice sized rolls for $5 (good deal). I'd pass on the fried dumplings next time..they were OK...smallerish and $6 for 6 pieces. My entrée portion lasted two days...as did the egg rolls. The prices here are pretty fair for what you get (aside from the dumplings). I feel like I'd have to give this place another try in order to judge it properly...not that that's a problem for me, since I've already eyeballed the fish cake, Curry dishes (spicy please), shrimp balls, Shu Mai, Chef's recommended Sizzling Seafood & a different noodle dish ..... Can't comment on whether this is authentic Thai or not..time will tell.. To be continued............. Tried Nathan's for the first time at lunch today as a take-out order. Since I called ahead I'm surprised my food wasn't ready when I got there, 15 minutes after I ordered - but in their defense, the lady on the phone did say 10-20 minutes. It seemed like they had a lot of lunchtime take-out business so perhaps that is why. I ordered: Tom Kha Soup w/Tofu - WOW! - more below Bamee Noodles w/Chicken small side of steamed veggies The noodles were cooked well, chicken tender - but overall the noodle dish was on the bland side. The mixed steamed veggies were cooked perfectly. I was delightfully surprised with the soup! A hot & sour coconut milk soup, with tomatoes, mushrooms, lemongrass and lime juice - WOW. I wanted to try something exotic & delicious & this soup delivered! The richness of the coconut milk juxtaposed with the tang of the hot & sour & citrus. Just WOW. The ladies there were very nice & I certainly will go back to try them again, and have more of that soup! read more

This place is located in a strip mall-ish area in the happenin' town on Elmhurst. Call me sheltered, but never been to Elmhurst before. Anywho, I was slightly (not really) hesitant on going to a Thai place that had a white name, as I'm use to Thai places containing "Siam" or at least.... "Thai". Buuuut, the place was cool. Not too big, and considering it was a weeknight, not busy at all. Had great conversation with my +1 over a few decent appetizers -- fried tofu and some good ol' fashion shui mai; both came with dipping sauces, but I felt like the fried tofu was still somewhat too dry for me. The shui mai was decent. I ordered the Basil Leaves dish with chicken, low sauce, brown rice. I think the chicken was a little dry, but it wasn't too bad. The veggies that came with it were decent. The staff there was nice. BATHROOM REVIEW: Bathrooms for womens and mens are located on opposite sides. The mens is located in the corner and inside, it was decent sized. Had a toilet and a cardboarded-up window. Fairly clean... but not sit clean. Sit or squat? Squat! read more

I had the Tom Yum soup, recommendation by the waitress, and it did not disappoint, as it was flavorful and had the right balance of spicy and sour. I rarely write updates unless I feel like it's warranted. And while most of my updates are generally positive, I felt like Nathan's really let me down this last time. I ordered to go and everything about my order was just bad. The pad thai didn't even look or taste like pad thai. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't pad thai. It tasted more like Chinese stir fry noodles with a lot of roasted chili flavor. The tom yum wasn't sour at all and it didn't have straw mushroom, but button mushrooms instead. I know it's a small discrepancy, but hey buddy, I like straw mushrooms and was looking forward to it! The biggest disappointment was the super combo appetizer. It comes with 3 shu mai, crab ragoons and pot stickers. They wrapped this in foil...Okay kids, what happens when fried food is wrapped tightly in foil? Say it with me. That's right, the steam makes the food soggy. So it was like eating a bunch of oily, soggy crackers. Bleh! I understand that ordering fried food is challenging when it's delivered to you, but come on! Learn from other restaurants. Use a container that has a vent at the top so the steam can escape. I've had many fried goodies before that came still crunchy, but this was just terrible. Also, the shu mais were the size of my thumbnail. I think I'm going back to Chai Yo Thai for my nearby Thai fix. read more

For years I drove by this place and never stopped. From the outside it doesn't look very appealing, but as the old adage goes, "you can't judge a book by its cover." Regrettably, that's exactly what I was doing. Now, I'm so glad I stopped. This may be the best Thai restaurant in the area. I can't confirm this yet, but considering there are only two Thai restaurants in Elmhurst, I think this is a pretty safe assumption. Be sure to check this place out. I had the Spicy Basil. I asked for hot (level 5), though I probably could have gone to "Thai Spicy," it was really good. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. The 3.5 stars here are not correct. Important to note there has been new ownership for the last 10 months or so. We have done take out a few times now and love the food. Tried their food via Uber Eats and surprised that beef isn't a surcharge (!!) like most Thai restaurants. I liked their pad see ew, the wide noodles. The pad Thai noodles had a certain smell that I did not like at all. And the worst part was the Thai tea tasted like old dairy milk or tea-- I tossed it out after the first sip. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for over a year. We have since moved to California and Nathan's noodles is always our first stop when we come back to visit. The staff always remembers us by name when we come back. We stopped by to say goodbye before we left for California and got a Tshirt to remember them by. They are really sweet people. I have tried so many thai places in California and nothing compares to Nathan's noodles. Their pad thai is by far the best pad thai I have ever had. Different type of flavors we are used to at a Thai restaurant. We ordered take out of 2 types of curry- red and green. Both dishes were a little on the sweet side, with less coconut milk than at most Thai places. Both "medium" and "medium hot" were too mild for us and tasted very similar. We did however really like that the vegetables in the curry were in small chunks and were in nice little bit sized pieces. read more
