Complete scam. When I called to book a massage she said she's no longer doing massages. WTF! Irreputable business. Big waste of time and aggravation. Highly recommend going somehwere else. Bad, Bad, Bad! read more

Impossible to track down. I am extremely disappointed. I got a Groupon for a massage. I called the number provided multiple times and on separate days and no one answers the phone. No one calls you back. The voicemail doesn't even state the name of the place. It says a random persons name that isn't even Natalie. I saw great reviews for her really wanted a massage and I gave up and refunded my groupon. read more

On Thursday September 7th, I booked an appointment for a sew in for 5pm on September 11th. Judy quickly reached out and let me know she was not available at that time, and suggested we reschedule for sooner date. However, due to my limited schedule, the 11th was the only day I was available. Graciously, she offered me a 9pm appointment instead. I did not ask for this appointment, she suggested it. I told her it would be a partial sew in, just needed a few tracks added to the sides of my hair for some volume. I had no problem paying the cost of the full sew in and knew it would be a much quicker and easier appointment. Fast forward to September 11th, at 3:18pm I reach out to confirm the appointment, she said great, she'll see me this evening. I left my house at 8:30, and arrived to the salon by 8:50 via Uber. I made sure to be early as I didn't want her inconvenienced by my tardiness, because it seemed like she was doing me a favor. I (willingly) sat outside in a torrential rainstorm until 9pm, and then texted her to let her know I was outside and ready whenever she was arrived. Fast forward to 9:12 and I didn't receive a response. I then called an Uber, continued to sit in the rain, and then headed back home. I have never experienced such unprofessional business etiquette. Had she canceled, I would have totally understood. But leaving me sitting outside in a rainstorm without so much as the decency or courtesy to let me know she couldn't make it, is unacceptable. I will absolutely tell everyone I know to avoid this place. What's the point of booking an appointment if the stylist/owner can choose whether or not to show up? read more

My two daughters and I went in tonight to see Judy!! What a lovey woman and made my daughter so happy with her cut and blow dry.. we walked in just before closing and she was so welcoming and kind! I took my 3-year-old foster daughter K here on a Saturday morning and Judy was amazing. She was so quick with braiding her hair and trying to keep her calm. And Judy was really gracious, answering my questions about how best to care for K's hair. K loves her hair - especially the beads! We will definitely be back. read more

Judy is amazing! My daughter is mixed and I usually have no idea what to do with her hair. It's been tough trying to find a place and with my girl going to over night camp next week I was in bind to get her hair corn rowed. Judy fit us in and did an amazing, fast job! Unfortunately, I was working so I didn't get to meet her. But be assured she's earned a repeat customer! read more

Was in desperate need of a wash, condition, trim and braids! I've been living in the area for awhile and have had a hard time finding someone to be my hair person. First off, I was able to get a last minute appointment on a Sunday morning!! I wear a wig and was just looking to get some routine maintenance to help keep my hair healthy. I liked that she did not pull my hair too tight because I suffer from migraines. She worked at a great pace and we were done in just over an hour. I'm definitely coming back. read more

Judy is AWESOME!!! She did my hair for my wedding and I got so many compliments! She is so nice, flexible and quite the stylist!!!

The braids were too tight and my hair has been itchy but impossible to scratch. The worst part is that despite the fact that the braids were so tight so much that I was wincing, less than two weeks later the tracks were falling out. Why pay hundreds of dollars to get your hair done and be in pain while it's getting done only for it to not last? I've gotten weaves done since I was in elementary school and they have never hurt and have never fallen out like this. The woman is really nice but I don't think a weave was the way to go at this salon. read more

I came here the get a press and curl and the blow drying process was painful. She was incredibly rough and was causing my hair to go through an unnecessary amount of breakage. So much broken hair. Then flatironed it. I don't know what Judy did but she ruined my ends. When I felt my ends they were extremely rough and I told her that. She then replied back and said that "natural hair gets dry". I got a cut 2 months ago so my ends were very healthy. I've never had my ends feel like this after a press and curl. Completely disregarded the health of my hair. She also burnt me a lot with the flat iron and told me to sit still while she was burning me up. She put me back on my hair goals and I'm just upset. So much damage. Ridiculous read more

Judy is really great at what she does! I have kinky hair and I'm so happy I FINALLY found a stylist that knows how to work with my 4c hair. I just wanted to say Judy is great at what she does! I went to get a few tracks sewn in, and they were perfect and just what I was looking for! I have worn extensions for years, and another salon in the area called Noelle quoted me to get 4 tracks sewn in at $350. I told the woman that quoted me at $350 that I knew that is extremely overpriced as this is not my first time getting this type of extensions. She then put me on hold and started to apologize by saying she meant to say $150. I was all set taking my business at Noelle as I felt like I was being taken advantage of! I was then walking by Intimate Whispers Salon and asked Judy about getting the 4 tracks sewn in and she quoted me accordingly to what was the norm. She fit me right in! I was very pleased and will be going back to Judy! A very nice woman as well:) read more

I will not be coming back to this salon. I called ahead of time and asked Judy for the price after giving specific details about the service I wanted. I even clarified so we had an understanding about how much I would have to pay. After I had made sure that we were on the same page, I made an appointment and came into my appointment on the same day. I got my (very short) hair washed, blow dried, and flat ironed and during this I was on my phone doing a puzzle. At one point I thought I heard the sound of shears and I turned around to see her cutting my hair. I was alarmed and confronted it to which she responded that the hair was "damaged and dead and it was healthier for my hair if she cut it". No matter how much you think a person needs a trim--it is in NO way, shape or form your place to take it upon yourself to do so without first asking the client. I had no warning--nothing. At this point, all I could do is tell her to stop; it's not like I could get the hair back. To top it all off, when it was time to pay for her "services" she made up some crazy reason to charge me DOUBLE the price that I had been told on the phone. Again, I will not be coming back to this salon. read more

I've been going to Judy since before she opened Intimate Whispers. Where Judy went, I went. She saved my hair when it started falling out and she brought it back to life! She is one African American hairdresser that I must say does not have you in the shop waiting for hours--I am in and out. I am grateful to her for her flexibility with my everchanging schedule and for putting up with myself and my two girls over the years. Thank you Judy. You're the best!!! read more

My 16-year old wanted "box braids" and did her research and found Intimate Whispers Salon had good reviews. She called and spoke to Judy who asked her to come in for a consultation. The salon is conveniently located and Judy was wonderful. She offered my daughter a couple of options and we came back a few days later to have the braids done. They came out AMAZING! We can't say enough good things about Judy and her salon. Clean, convenient location and the stylist is so talented. Thank you!! read more

I want to start this by saying I was provided a full refund for the services provided. For that I'm grateful. However, the experience was extremely unpleasant.I did some research prior to calling Intimate Whispers. Based on those reviews, proximity to my home and appointment availability, I made an appointment for my daughter to have her hair braided. When I first called, I asked for a price range - I was told braids start at $200 and to bring 4-8 packages of hair. My daughter indicated that there were several times during the day that Judy was working with another customer. I understand that there are times when it's necessary to step away, but it seems that at least one of these times may have been a crucial misstep on Judy's part. As we learned with past braiding the ends of the braids are finished by immersing them in boiling water to seal the ends and prevent them from unraveling. Near the end of the service, Judy proceeded to heat water in the microwave, but then left it for approximately 10 minutes (my daughter actually watched the clock on her phone) - the water was clearly not HOT when the braids were immersed. As soon as my husband got my daughter home, he called me to let me know she was NOT happy with how the braids turned out - several were already coming out. When he called Judy she insisted that he bring her back in that day so she could see what the problem was - at this point, my daughter was very upset and really didn't feel comfortable going back there after sitting for close to 7 hours for the service. I called Judy to explain that my daughter was very upset and getting her back there that day was not likely to happen. She agreed to let us bring her back the next day at 12:30. While talking to Judy, she said 'well the hair your brought was silky hair'. However, she then called me and said it HAD to be that same day. I explained that I was still at work, but would bring her in as soon as I got home. Judy didn't understand why my daughter was upset about how the braids turned out. But my daughter knew what we paid for the braids ($280 plus a $25 tip) and was upset because we spent so much and the braids were coming out. When my daughter and I arrived at the shop, Judy was very antagonistic and insisted there was NOTHING wrong with braids. She again brought up the fact that we bought silky hair. I indicated that she should have told us before she started the braiding that the type of hair was a problem. She asked if we wanted her to take the braids out and refund the money - knowing that nothing was going to be done to change how the braids were coming apart, I said that I did want a refund. I offered to help take the braids out and she told me 'no, I don't want your help' - I told her didn't mind (thinking two people would make the task move faster) - she insisted that I NOT help her. She brought up the fact that we bought silky hair several times - and I stated several times that if the hair was going to pose a problem, she should have said something before starting the braids. At one point, her response was 'well, how would I know it was going to cause a problem'. You cannot blame the hair in one comment but then say you didn't know the hair would be a problem in the next. Judy also made it very clear that she's been braiding for a very long time and since I don't braid I don't know what I'm talking about. She also accused my daughter of cutting one of the braids. When she accused my daughter of cutting one of the braids, I told her not to accuse my daughter of doing something - she told me 'don't talk like you have no sense.' She was very abrasive when speaking with me and with my daughter, repeatedly telling me we were bring dramatic. While she raked a comb through the braids, I asked her to be a bit gentler, that she was hurting my daughter. She again insisted I was being drama and that she wasn't hurting my daughter. Mind you, my daughter had tears streaming down her face! At one point, a customer came in and asked Judy why she was removing the braids, she once again made it very clear that we knew nothing about braiding and didn't know what we were talking about when we said the braids were coming out - the customer insisted that the braids were perfect and I was once again asked if I braid and told I don't know what I'm talking about since I don't braid. In the meantime, the tears continued to flow from my daughter. ). There didn't seem to be any difficulty undoing the ends of the braids Judy put in - the combs they used seemed to separate the ends of the braids with ease. However, that didn't stop Judy from raking a comb through my daughter's hair in a very angry manner - she was often raking the comb through 3 or 4 braids at one time. While doing this, she was consistently complaining that we didn't know what we were talking about, she's been braiding a very long time, using profanity and calling me names. Overall, a very negative experience. read more

Very unprofessional blaming customer for her bad technique please do your research. I have had weave before never had it start falling out in 2 days...made every effort to contact her. To no avail... Finally had to have it removed be a professional who was dumbfounded by the amount of thread that had been knotted up in The weave. The point is if you are a professional that is providing a service to a client you should be available to fix the problem not have them waiting to see if you may get back to them.. I had no other option but to have someone remove the weave. Judy then blamed me stating " who knows what you did when you went home... Please the weave was in 2 days. I only asked for a refund I was told No and that she should have charged me more! Very unprofessional. It doesn't matter how long you have been doing hair your still rude and need to learn a very important lesson your clients are paying for a service if the service isn't satisfactory and you do not make yourself available to resolve the solution your not a very good business owner. You never blame your client. I wish I could included pictures I was left with a bold spot and told I was a problem customer.. I will not be getting a refund... If you are new and looking for hair care this isn't the place. read more

I had an extremely unpleasant experience here. I called and booked an appointment for a touch-up of my relaxer. Judy was rough with my hair and I requested that she be a bit more gentle since my scalp was tender. I had also brought some oil with me to apply to my scalp at the end and when she saw the oil she said that it was "crap" and that I shouldn't have brought it with me. After she had done the touch up and was starting to put my hair in roller sets, I asked her again if she could be a bit more gentle since my scalp was tender. She suddenly got very angry and told me to be quiet since she knows what she is doing having done hair for many years. I told her again that my scalp was tender. She suddenly started shouting saying that I was rude to dare tell her how to do her job and how dare I bring my 'crap' oil into her salon. I answered that I didnt like her tone and I didnt like her shouting at me at which she seemed shocked that I was standing up for myself. She said I was rude and I should SHUT UP. I said nope, I am not going to shut up while she is rough with my scalp since I am paying for the service after all. At this point she shouted that I should get out of her salon with my hair still wet from washing. I did just that. I got up and left. About an hour later, I received a call from her asking if I was the client that had left without paying. How strange!!! She herself had chased me away with wet hair without receiving the full service I had gone in for. She then started shouting about how rude I was for instructing her on how to handle my hair/ scalp. It was at this point that I hung up. Beware of this woman! read more

After having a bad experience at another Malden salon, I sought a more upscale place to get my hair braided and was lucky enough to find this one. The owner, Judy, was very professional, talented, and had a great and friendly attitude. I liked her immediately. It was easy to schedule an appointment to get the work done, and her prices were reasonable. Unlike my other experience, Judy's work was NOT painful at all! She assured me that hair braiding, although a little uncomfortable at first, isn't supposed to cause a lot of pain. She also did not make me feel strange despite the uniqueness of the project (I make synthetic dread falls - other salon owners looked at me strangely, overpriced the job, or actually made fun of me for wanting such a thing for hair extensions!), and she really enjoyed doing the work. She was actually excited about doing it! I found out during our conversation during the work, that she is an art student, and loved to do artful work. I had a wonderful experience here that has overshadowed the poor one I suffered earlier this year. Now I want to recommend Judy's salon to everyone! Hers is the 3rd extensions salon that I have tried in Malden, (including Noelle, and Fallou) and she is by far the best!! She has all kinds of services - hair treatments, and hair replacement options to name a couple. You won't regret a trip to Intimate Whispers. Thanks Judy!! read more

Coming here for the first time, you wonder how well will they do your hair? Is it going to be as nice as how my regular stylist does it? All these question you ask yourself and more. The service was amazing! I was on a huge search to get my hair done for the first time since moving to Massachusetts. I saw some reviews to this place and decided to give a call on a Sunday. Judy was really polite and set me up with an appointment. A little background... I didn't have a relaxer for about 8 months and wanted one. I was also a little nervous about my edges and what she would say. (They are naturally thin, but after pulling my hair back so much due to work, it got worse). We talked very little about my edges but discussed it. This made me more comfortable. It was a reassuring conversation. I went in for a relaxer, and cut. A cut so I couldn't pull my hair into a ponytail anymore! She did an amazing job! I am definitely going to set up future appointments with her. If you want a great conversation, great hairstyle, and someone who is down to earth. Come to this Salon! read more

I was on the search for a good hair salon for black hair care in my area about a year ago, and stumbled upon Intimate Whispers here on Yelp. At this time I was desperate to get help with my hair. I'm going to be honest I would give this place a BIG FAT ZERO!!! , if the rating had a zero. I had an appointment schedule for August 6 at exactly 10 am , which I called a week in advance. I wanted the appointment to be at 11 am but she said 10 am so I agreed with her. The crochet braid cost $180 dollars pretty overprice for a salon owner who does not come on time. I got to the salon at 9:50am and waited for an hour, and still she did not show up. She did not even call me the night before or even this moring to tell me she was going to be late. Nope not even an attempt to call her costmers to let them know yet she has the nerve to tell me to call a day before to cancel the appointment. she should honestly take her own advice, you never make a customer wait for an hour when you tell them to come at a certain time and don't even try to call either. If she was 15 mins late fine but you can't tell me that you own a salon and tell everyone it opens at 10 am yet you're are not even open. I know other salons that says they open at 9 am but there will be people in by 8 am. Also to pay $180 dollars to get my hair done where I can find some other place thats for cheaper is Ridiculous!!! and she still hasn't called me back to expalin why she did not show up!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!! read more

I started coming to see Judy about two years ago, I was devastated having had a health condition that led to the loss of over 80 percent of my hair. My first visit with Judy she was so kind and understanding and I knew I was in the rite hands! She assured me I was going to benefit from getting a full sew in, on my fragile Caucasian hair I was nervous but it was the best decision I could have made. It did not hurt at all and I was awestruck with the results! Everytime I would get my hair done with Judy I would leave feeling better about myself and with inspiration! The best part about it is now my hair has grown back and I do not need the sew in any longer, my hair has grown back thicker and healthier than it ever has been. Do not get bonded hair extensions by noelle salon or any other fusion extensions in the area as they pull your natural hair out and leave your damaged and are what led to me needing the sew in in the first place! Judy is the best!!! read more
