What a professional Nate is. Fast, efficient, kind and fair. Besides other services I requested (alternator, tune-up, etc.), wrongly assuming that I needed a new battery, I requested one to be installed. Nate checked the battery, and shortly notified me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my battery and even gave me a printout of the analysis printed out by the battery analysis device. I had to bring my car in on a tow truck with almost no warning late on a Friday afternoon. The electrical system had died without warning. He had it diagnosed before I could arrange a ride home, and managed to get replacement parts for a 15 year old Mazda and finish the job in less than 24 hours. Even better, previously my wife had brought her car in to replace the alternator. She'd been told by a different shop that it needed it. All he had to do was replace it for a quick payday. My 2007 Chevy Trailblazer was running rugged right after a 'supposed' $150 Tune Up from another mechanic shop (who shall remain unnamed) & at the recommendation of a friend, asked Nate to take a look. This was on a Friday afternoon! This guy is about as thorough as they come. He found the previous mechanic had NOT 'gapped' plugs correctly, pcv hose was left unplugged, purge valve NOT purged (which is an EPA violation), they left screw off air filter & many more sloppy things. Then Nate went to work on an ongoing issue for past year where I drive a distance & then have trouble re-starting a 'hot engine' in my car. Nate discovered it was NOT a fuel pump issue (as several mechanics told me), just a bad Thermostat. My Jeep Comanche was leaking at the engines front and rear seals. After reading the Yelp reviews, and getting a couple of estimates from other local shops. I decided to get a price from Nate's. The quote was much more than the estimates from other shops. I had not shared my estimates with Nate. When I asked why his cost was so high he informed me that he had to drop the transmission and front axle. Having researched before hand I knew this was not required. Brought him my daughter's car and he fixed the immediate issue with the necessary $22 part within the hour. Showed him a quote from another shop for additional work I was told "was necessary" to fix further issues and he asked me to leave the car "for possibly an hour", so he could give me his recommendation. An hour later, he phoned me and went ahead and fixed the vehicle; with 2 parts (not even listed in the previous shop's estimate) for $108. The other shop's estimate - $650, 9 parts and 6 hours estimated repair time. Nate determined the actual issue, obtained the parts and repaired it. Charged me 2 hours labor, total, for both repairs. Nate has taken a swing at a couple of my vehicles, and done a decent job on the repairs (except for a Qjet carb rebuild that had to be returned twice and still is not quite right). The differentiator between getting a 3rd star and not is his attitude. On all interactions with him, it felt as though he would have preferred I took my business elsewhere.
