Bay Area Training Academy in engrained into my heart. I cannot express my gratitude for the people…read morehere, they are heroes (in my opinion). I did the 8-week course and they increased my intelligence and I am eternally grateful for them doing that. They increased my confidence & allowed me to build social connections with both fellow students and instructors. I want to thank everyone that helped me because not only did they believe in me but they also motivated me to be a better human being, full of compassion & willingness to assist during emergencies. Steve Albright is the lead instructor and he is gifted at teaching and he is hilarious with his style of teaching. This man is very much a father figure and someone I learned a lot from aside from the medical material, he is truly a pleasure to be around and he lifts up peoples' spirits even though everything can be stressful. Michael believed in me and expressed it in a way that I can never thank enough. I value my newly acquired friendship with Michael and I definitely felt his passion for teaching and "his" love for his students. He is a great instructor who I am proud to have been guided by in this process of becoming a Emergency Medical Technician. He believed in me more than I believed in myself and that is something that money cannot buy. Henry taught me so much and gave me a platform to grow and thrive upon. He was so amazing at teaching and building confidence without putting pressure and it allowed for one to practice like they would in "real-life", therefore it is impossible for me to thank him enough. Nav guided me in situations that are stressful her guidance in tough scenarios which is something I will never forget. Her military expertise is something that I admire and will never forget her words and they will stick with me forever. She also enlightened me with potential career opportunities for someone like me, she did this for all of the students and I'm 100% positive that everyone gained confidence from her insight. Kristian was an amazing instructor who sharpened my skills with his style of teaching. He really helped cement my confidence and that is something I truly needed and value. I know that he didn't just want me to succeed but to also help the patients/people that we serve. The time that we spent together was not nearly enough because he had so much more to give and I had so much more to learn from him, however the time that we did spend was maximized and as I mentioned I am forever grateful for his time and energy. Patrick is like a friend who I have known my entire life and he is a wise teacher who made the learning experience more enjoyable and he reminded me why I am even doing this in the first place. He reminded me of my core values and the type of person I want to be, which is compassionate, sociable, and an intelligent leader who can get things done under pressure. This man is a person that everyone likes to be around and that is something I wish to emulate. Overall, this has been a life changing course unlike any other course that I have taken. I truly cherish these people and they are all heroes which deserve everything that life has to offer because they are doing it from the heart. I am proud to be a Bay Area Training Academy graduate and I will do my best to represent them as I move forward in my life. They are truly all beautiful souls who deserve nothing but the best and coming to the academy was one of the best decisions of my life. I feel more equipped to handle family emergencies as my elders age around me and in my daily life. I am excited to continue my education and these are people that I want to keep close to me. I feel like i found my "people"/tribe. I cannot wait for what the future brings and: Thank you for everything BATA, I love all of you! Sincerely, Raul Angel Maravilla (EMT212AL)

I am surprised about the negative reviews on this site. I guess people need to vent somewhere... I…read moretook classes at the Kinesiology Department and at the Graphic Arts Deaprtment at Laney College and I can say that my experience was extremely positive in both places. The graphic arts classes were fun and super informative. The teacher was amazing. In one semester there, I learned more than I learned in two years at another other in the Bay Area that was super expensive and overhyped. The yoga and the swimming classes I took at Laney were just for fun and I really enjoyed them. They have a great swimming pool and a gym and it is by far the best deal in the entire Bay Area. Unfortunately, due to Covid, they are closed now. :(. I can't wait for them to reopen to get back in shape. The best part was that I didn't pay a penny to take classes at Laney. Financial aid was easy to set up - just fill out a form online. Then, I got a tuition waiver for the classes. Seriously, what more could you want! They even give you extra money for books and supplies. Now, you can check out a Chromebook laptop and they have a free mails program. A lot of classes are online now, because of Covid. My only gripe is that classes fill up quickly and there aren't enough of them offered. I kind of waited too long to sign up and now I cannot enroll in some of the classes I wanted to take. Next semster!

He has a great energy and a unique way of explaining complex safety standards so that they actually make sense. He cares deeply about his students' success and safety, and it shows. All the instructors…read morewere really nice, easy to work with, and were really there to ensure that each student understood the materials being taught. I was in the mid-day slot (11-2ish) which was great because it gave me enough time to prepare for exam, if needed. I loved that our program was small so I felt that each of us got the attention we needed; however, do keep in mind that all programs are different. I am giving it 4 stars because of the fact I had to take some general classes even though I graduated with a BA. Some of the classes they have you take as "additional" classes felt like it was only for the money even though I took the class as an undergraduate in a different school.

I'm using (JW) because Yelp flags reviews with names on them, but (JW) is the enrollment specialist I spoke with. How can someone so rude be the face of this institution?!

HUMANMADE has recreated the same concept as TechShop, but it's MUCH cleaner, organized and with even better machines. On top of that, it's in San Francisco! Other maker spaces I've been to are good at what they offer, but HumanMade is definitely in a league by itself. Everything is so new, clean, and well-maintained. The staff and volunteers are great for scheduling, advice, and people in general. For the monthly cost, it's less expensive than buying your own machines, then storing and maintaining them. Classes are offered to learn to use the machines which include: laser cutters, CNC, woodshop, Shopbot, industrial sewing, vinyl cutting, 3D printing, CAD programs, and a lot of other skills! I highly encourage creatives to check this place out.
