Nate is such an extraordinary dog trainer & educator. I had a pleasure training with him recently. He is professional, knowledgeable, and extremely easy to work with. I'm going to incorporate his advices in my training to help my youngest dog settle down on car rides. Thank you so much, Nate!

Where do I even begin? Nate was definitely sent to me by an angel because what Nate has been able to teach both me and my dog in a super short period of time has been life changing. I learned it can be & is supposed to be fun to train your dog; not just for you but for the dog too. I also learned you can be kind, nice, gentle, compassionate & understanding as the dog learns these new behaviors. You don't have to be the alpha or dominant or have the dog be afraid of you. What a relief, it's just not in my soul to be unkind so I really resonate with Nate's style of training. If you're deciding on a trainer I would recommend that you check out their videos to see exactly what & how they teach. Some trainers only teach basic commands (sit/stay, down/stay) but if you want a comprehensive trainer that can literally take your dog from a rescue to a service dog then Nate is your guy. (Just check out his TV show, Rescue Dog to Super Dog! Now, THAT is impressive!) And, watch the 'way' he trains & 'how' he speaks to the dogs; so kind & happy. What a world of a difference our lives have become because Nate has helped us! Thank you so, so, so much!

I have been meaning to thank Nate for his kindness and generosity from a few years ago. I rescued a pit bull off the streets and although she was a wonderful dog at home with my small dog, I wasn't comfortable about her meeting other dogs outside. In desperation, I tried a number of trainers and really, no one was calling back especially when I let them know the situation upfront. Nate reached out after I asked for help and sent me his training video for free, and suggested a "choke" collar, which made a ton of difference when walking a big, strong dog. Once I had all that in order, I was able to find her a wonderful new home. Thank you, Nate! It has been a few years, and I still remember your kindness and generosity.

Blue and Buster patiently waiting for a walk thanks to Hira's Legacy Foundation dog training.

I have so much respect and appreciation for Miss Debbie! I had never been to any dog training…read moreclasses before and I am so glad that I was able to start off with someone as passionate and experienced as Debbie. I was looking for a trainer that focuses on positive reinforcement and who provided a safe environment for my dog. My number one concern with any kind of service provider for my pets is that I feel that I can trust them. I absolutely trust Debbie's judgement, safety/cleanliness protocols, and that she truly cares about the wellbeing of all the dogs in her classes. I brought home my dog at 1.5 years old after he was bounced around through multiple homes, so he had plenty of time in his formative first 18 months of life to create habits and default behaviors which did not serve him. He had no emotional regulation when it came to his excitability. I knew he was only happy and eager when he saw other dogs, but I also knew it could spook other dogs and that sort of chaotic energy can lead to defensive behaviors, something I wanted to avoid at all costs both for the safety of my dog as well as other dogs and their owners. We have seen a tremendous improvement in his excitability, so much so that friends, family and even my vet have commented on the improvement. We still have work to do, but I am now able to take him to a wider variety of places as well as able to take him on walks which I wasn't able to do before. He is a calmer, happier dog. And I am a calmer, happier owner now that I have tools and knowledge that I can implement in real life, which is so much easier to do after being able to practice these things in a safe, controlled class environment. Debbie has been nothing but positive, patient, helpful and insightful. She explains the whats and the whys. In getting the experience of practicing these training games and in learning from her talks both at class and in the online training videos for her students which supplements in person classes, I have been able to get a deeper, hands on understanding of those whats and the whys. If you are looking for a trustworthy trainer who works to truly modify your dogs behavior on a deeper level by changing their emotions and associations through positive reinforcement, then Debbie is for you! Also, I see another reviewer putting down Debbie's basement suite training location. I can't help but think that is a silly criticism because the basement suite does so much to block out outside sounds and sights that could interfere with training for reactive dogs. It makes it so much easier to keep my dog focused on the task at hand!!

Julia showed us how to change that behavior and be the leader of the pack for our dog. He also was always underfoot (especially in the kitchen) which created tripping hazards. Within the first day of working with Julia our dog had created a new behavior and stayed out of the kitchen. We learned how to teach him how to be out of the kitchen without having to constantly yelling him "get out". Dogs don't understand that language. Julia is a pro at showing you what to do. We've already signed up for another session in a month and plan to attend her drop in play dates with other dogs. Thanks Julia for being so awesome!

She has helped us with three very different dog personalities and sizes from a feisty/possessive 10 lb chihuahua to a submissive yet reactive 66 lb German Shepherd (and our little 14 lb terrier that just needs a little tweaking here and there). Julia's training style is not a positive/treat rewarding style per say-it's somewhat of a balance of btwn selective positive rewarding for "tricks" or abnormal behaviors (or fears) and quick corrections with tools (either a stick/extension of your arm or a specific style collar/leash that fits the needs of your dog). All 3 of our dogs have a different leash/collar & works perfect for each of them. The type of training is also about the mind set you're in. You don't wait to make corrections when they've done something wrong so many times that you're angry. You need to be focused and serious when you do have to correct. She also got us to kennel train when we're away which we didn't think would work out too well with our two small ones that have free roamed forever, but all three actually do very well and even sleep in there when we're home. Bottom line is if you're looking for a positive reward training only- that's not this. But if you're looking for something that strikes a balance but still allows you a great bond with your dog- then definitely try B the Leader.
