Braendel Painting & Services, Inc. quoted me $3,500 to paint my kitchen. I signed a contract with…read moreBraendel on June 5, 2021, and they began the work shortly thereafter. However, the project was not completed until nine months later. I had expected the job to be finished within a few days. Throughout the project, I repeatedly contacted Braendel to address areas that had been left unpainted and sections where the paint had peeled from the cabinets. Braendel painted over cabinets that were more than 50 years old without sanding or priming them beforehand. I can personally attest to this because I was present throughout the entire project and observed the work being performed. As a result, the paint began peeling. I called several times requesting that the cabinets be repainted. Although Braendel later used a more expensive paint, the peeling problem continued. At no point did the owner or project manager contact me to ask whether I was satisfied with the work. Instead, a different painter was sent each time I reported problems. During one visit, I overheard a phone conversation between the company and the painter they had sent. Someone from the Company asked, "Is she for real?" The painter replied, "Yes. I am now painting the ceiling that was not completed." Even after these issues were addressed, the project manager never contacted me to discuss the quality of the work or my satisfaction with the project. Eventually, the last painter assigned to my job, Eric Godlewski, took the cabinet doors home and repainted them. I was pleased with the quality of his work. Before he left, I asked whether he knew anyone who installed replacement windows. Mr. Godlewski offered to do the work himself. Based on my positive experience with his cabinet work, I agreed. Mr. Godlewski measured the windows, purchased them, and stacked them on my back porch. On March 31, 2022, I gave him $4,300, and he provided me with a receipt. After that, I never heard from him again. I was out $4,300. To make matters worse, the windows that were purchased were all the wrong size and did not fit any of my window openings. Because they could not be returned, I donated them to Habitat for Humanity. I chose to work with Braendel because the company had a good reputation. Since then, I have learned that Mr. Godlewski has an extensive criminal record. In my opinion, Braendel should have exercised greater care in selecting and supervising individuals representing the company. I contacted Dan Bishop, the project manager for Braendel, several times regarding these issues. He returned only one call and informed me that Braendel was not responsible. He never responded to any of my subsequent calls. Would I do business with Braendel again? Absolutely not. Shelley Ruh

We heard about 5 Star from some of our neighbors, who had the same issues with crappy roofing. After getting some estimates from other companies, Craig Hanes, the owner, came to our house with an estimate and even took pictures of our roof to show us what type of damage we were looking at (including the spectacularly bad front porch awning the previous owners had installed themselves and majorly botched). The pricing was incredibly reasonable and included a warranty for the future. We signed the contract but unfortunately Craig told us that it would likely be about a month before he could fit us in, which made us a little nervous because of the unpredictability of WNY weather. Well, imagine our surprise when we got a call 4 days later from Craig telling us that the weather was going to be favorable for the next 2 days and he'd like to start work on our roof the next day! Fabulous! A large crew worked from sun up to sun down over the course of 2 days and we now have a beautiful roof, and more importantly, it will no longer rain in our bedroom during vicious thunderstorms. Craig was so nice to deal with, and I would not hesitate to recommend 5 Star Roofing to anyone!

The salesman gave me a hard sell and said they would price match their competitor by 100$. They actually didn't price match because the competitor's estimate included an engineering fee and Frank's required me to pay that fee (1000$) out of pocket. Once I agreed to go with Frank's the salesman became much less responsive and it took forever to get the work scheduled. The workers also ripped paint off my siding because they used duct tape to hold back my screens and they also left these screens open in the middle of summer for hours which let in a ton of bugs. The workers also used crude language throughout the entire job. I contacted Franks three times about these issues before writing a review and got no response.

Out of all the companies that did show up ( 4 out of 5), Adam was the only estimator who actually went up on our roof and walked it to see how everything looked. Because of this, Adam's timeliness on coming out as well as getting a professional and itemized quote submitted to us and the reasonable cost, we chose to have Ava install our project. The contract was signed and job was scheduled within a week! The crew protected our house and did a great job stripping and installing new plywood, removed an old electrical service pipe that was no longer needed and reshingled our house in one day. They cleaned up the yard and left everything in great condition, which with our yard being wet and muddy, was a big hurdle! The gutter installers came a few days later and had our new gutters up in a few hours. They had their work cut out for them because it rained a great deal the days before so they were fighting mud as well. My house looks amazing with all of the improvements that Ava performed for us! Ava had to come back to fix the issues we (as homeowners) uncovered, like: -used finishing nails instead of roofing nails in high wind areas -not tarring over exposed nails -had rippling of shingles in the back of the house -ridge vent didn't get added to the full roof -broke a beam and originally used a 2x4 on one side, didn't even notify me that this happened. -didn't cut soffits where they were supposed to -put feet through our ceiling in 2 areas and I discovered it on my own They fixed all these things properly and quickly, but only after I called to explain the same sub contractors they sent back originally, didn't do a good job fixing some of them. So then I asked for their actual internal installers to come out and fix. When they did that (sent Billy), the craftsmanship was much better. Now, 4 months after installation, my brand new bathroom vents are blowing air back in and not as strong anymore. We discover it's because of the way they installed the the roof vents. The grates are pushing up against the opening so they can't open fully. I'm beyond frustrated that poor installation caused all these issues to appear! Although Ava has come out each time, if I was an uneducated home owner, I would not necessarily be able to find these issues and push to get them fixed. If you choose to use them, make sure it's not a subcontractor doing the work and that they are using their internal team.
