Rampart Security Systems - We install and service DSC security alarm systems

Buyer and Customer Beware!…read more Recently I noticed my app was not working to arm and disarm my alarm. After calling Rampart, they said "yes currently our services are offline". Then I asked if that meant we would not be covered by monitoring for fire or burglary. They said "yes, that's correct". I was completely flabbergasted. Three large issues for me: - They never notified their clients the monitoring service was offline. My first issue was at 9PM the night before I called. When I called Rampart around 9AM the next day, the guy on the phone said: "Oh yeah it's down, but it hasn't been down that long". To which I replied "yes it has, my home has been unprotected for 12+ hours". - After researching the app communications, I quickly was able to determine the IP address involved was from BOLIVIA. The IP was registered to "Bulgaria Sofiya Residence Control" - Why on planet Earth would I want my home secured through a server in Bolivia which is now down? That IP address was 212.73.143.204. - The monthly service fee they charge is much higher than the service we received. The monitoring service was the cheapest available, likely turning $20-25/mo in profit for adding absolutely zero value. They use a third-party service called "m2mservices" which is hosted on a server in Bolivia. https://m2mservices.com/ The device is the cheapest available and the service, being outside of the US, is most likely also the cheapest possible. After calling back, they had zero problems refunding our entire charge.. which is too bad... we were a customer for over eight years without a miss in payment. Stay away, the company doesn't care if your home is protected, or at least not enough to tell you about it.

Very responsive, they have done upgrades to our system that we have had for more than 25 years. We…read moreadded cell coverage so we no longer needed a land line. And their montering service is less than the 'big' guy out there. We would highly recommend Rampart!

Further, why 3 year contracts when they don't pay for the equipment...they charge the customer up front.

This review has been edited:…read more I am editing this review and changing my rating from 2 to 5. Why? Because of the customer service I received after posting this review. I got a call from Neil whose father started the business 30 years ago. He apologized and asked for details. I told him I appreciated the call and would amend my review. He said that was necessary as that is the point of reviews and they messed up. In our conversation, I mentioned that ADT was not scheduled for another week when I am back in town. He asked if he could come over and speak with me about my services. He apologized, discussed my service with me and I chose to renew my agreement with Atronic. They came out today (10/13) to get me hooked back up and I had some requests that they accommodated. I appreciate a local company that takes pride in their work and is not too proud to prove themselves again and ask for your business. ___________________________ This review is more about the service than the product. I moved to KC three years ago and the home I bought had Atronic. I contacted them and continued the service. I wanted to do business with them since they are local and not go with someone like ADT. I switched to Google Fiber 9 months ago and got rid of my land line phone. My security system would not work without the land line. I called and there were some expensive wireless hook up charges and in addition, the monthly fee went up $10 a month. I asked to have the set-up waived since I was a current customer. They would not do it. I decided to cancel service since I never use it. 9 months later I decide I want to re-activate my service. I call them to arrange it and they no longer charge the set-up fee, but the increased monthly fee. Fine. I am told I will get a call with someone to arrange it. Three weeks later I have not heard from anyone. I call back and am told that a form was emailed to me and they were waiting to get it back....from three weeks ago. I never received it. They sent another and it went into my Junk folder, but I was watching for it this time. In those three weeks, I had a call from ADT and went through a quote process with them. It was a better deal, much better actually, and I said no because I wanted to keep it local. Atronic is now waiting on me to fill out a new form (never mind I was already a customer and they have one on file) and they will get me on a service call list once I return it. ADT offered to have a Service Technician out the next day if I would sign up with them. Hello, ADT! Where have you been all my life? If you want to give your money to a company that wants it, I would suggest looking elsewhere. There are other local options.

I moved from one metro area to another and planned to leave all equipment at the old house so the new user could set up monitoring and use the equipment there. I called to schedule an installation of new equipment in early May (we closed on the new house on May 4th). The soonest they could get in was several weeks out. My husband was concerned that it was too long to go without security and asked me to call and see if we could get it done any sooner. The customer rep I worked with was extremely rude, had an extreme accent, and talked over me so much that I decided Vivint was unsuitable. Not only did I not reschedule, but I also told her to cancel future appointments and cancel the service. She canceled the installation but then failed to transfer me to the department to cancel the service. She didn't even tell me I had to go to another department. She made it sound like she canceled both. So, obviously, Vivint needs to re-train their people. If I don't have any equipment at the new house, then, OF COURSE, I am canceling the service. What good is service if nothing is installed at the house?! So...a few weeks go by, and I get charged for service. I call up Vivint and am told "that's another department". Great..so I finally got transferred to another department, where the customer rep TALKED OVER ME THE WHOLE TIME. The accent was extreme, and I barely understood what they were saying. I did hear, "must be in writing with a 30-day written notice". So, I "think" I have canceled. A few weeks later...I get charged again. Mind you, this is in July. We've been out of that house for two months and are still paying them. I am putting a freeze on my bank account, so good luck, Vivint, trying to charge me AGAIN for nothing. We have Brinks, and it was like night and day regarding professionalism. We have a far superior product, and the price was 1K cheaper on the equipment; we have many more devices since we moved into a much larger home, and the monitoring price was still the same. No contract is required. They didn't damage our new home during installation as Vivint did at our previous house (they tried to pull out the refrigerator without asking me) and damaged our brand-new hardwood floors. One last note. Vivint is a "security" company yet they allowed the new homeowner to access our personal account. How is that possible when the new homeowner doesn't have the verbal password? I wouldn't trust them with anything involving your personal information.
