The pizza and food was decent. The drink menu was diverse. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This restaurant has a nice view of the arena and things near the plaza.

    Galacian Octopus ~ pass :/

As the name boasts, Blue Ribbon is a setting you dream of visiting Verona. One of the many eateries in historic Verona. Classic decor inside but too dark to enjoy for lunch when the sun is out. Opt outside in the alleyway for umbrella shade and cool breeze. The Galacian Octopus ~ for just a half cut leg slice, eh. Lobster Linguini Special ~ pasta al dente perfect, giant claws cooked so tender. Felicetti Black Squid Ink Spaghetti with Salmon Eggs ~ delicious. Service ~uniformed & proper for an upscale appearance.

Europe 2023 - Verona With all the choices to eat in Verona it is hard to accept going to a touristy place with under 4, so we ventured off the main plaza and found Nasteo Azzurro. From where we were sitting we couldn't see the ancient arena. But the food and service were great. I had the spaghetti with lobster. I just wish there was more lobster. The pizza had a nicely cooked crust and was a mix of artichoke hearts, prosciutto and mushrooms. Our bottle of wine was a Merlot and good. The best part was the Tiramisu and the service.

Grilled Langostinos. - very overcooked but beautiful $5 EURs a piece.

I must admit I did this to myself. I talked about this restaurant for weeks prior to our arrival. After researching and reading this was the one...wrong. When we arrived I told the host that we had reservations and he didn't even want to know our name... just sit where you would like. I was going to order three entree's and each what I wanted my douse another one. I asked about the ricotta gnocchi with truffles and he said the ricotta were three large(about the size of a baseball) so I decided against that. So our dishes consisted of Grilled Langostinod, Suckling Pig w/roasted potatoes and a Ragu Lasagna. The langostinos were grilled so long they were totally mush. The suckling Pig arrived and it was something neither of us had ever seen. The pig was precooked, then tightly packed and wrapped in a large piece of fat and heated to a luck was. One knows it was not freshly cooked when you talked it apart and it has that porky taste. All of the salt in the world could not help with little dish...2d mistake. The lasagna however was very good, some of the best. It kind of melted in your mouth. When I tried to explain the mushy shrimp the waiter forgot that he knew English which he had spoke to all tables. Oh, well. When finished he quickly took our plates away with no questions. I would say that I fell into the "trap". Lesson learned: read the reviews from the locals...and go where the locals go. Wish I could recommend but can't. If you do go order the lasagna. Service was prompt. Outside seating was a delight. The tables are set up in an alley way with an abundance of umbrellas so the sun or rain will not deter.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and located right next to it. The hotel made reservations for us prior to our trip since we had 6 people and many restaurants in Italy are small. This place has a good size outside seating area and also a lot of indoor seating too. The location is right near the Arena. I usually find restaurants near main tourist sites to be mediocre and overpriced. It's happily surprised this wasn't the case. The girls got pizzas which they loved. I tasted the crust and it was quite good. We got the lobster pasta special of the day, linguine with clams, and the tray of grilled seafood. All the dishes were wonderful with lovely flavor. I also appreciated that the seafood was tender instead of dry. The tiramisu and hot chocolate cake were good but I think the latter was a little overly done. The staff were very polite and helpful. I would absolutely come back here again.

After going yo see the opera there were a lot of options that looked awful. Happy we stumbled on this place. The food was fresh and exceptional. The gnocchi was homemade and the pizza Devone. Just off the plaza on a side street.

I came here on my first night in Verona. It looked like it was a popular spot. The food was as good as the service. The dessert was spectacular. I would definitely come back to this place if I am in the area.

    Lobster pasta

This was our first visit here and we were not disappointed. We ordered the lobster pasta and the lasagna. Both were excellent. Service was very good as well. The waiter helped us pick out a wine option and it was perfect. The only thing I can be critical of would be, it felt like you were sitting in an alley when the restaurants on the Main plaza have a better ambiance.

    The front of the restaurant

Great value in the heart of Verona. Only steps away from the Arena, but it's quiet setting in a charming alley gives it a quiet ambience. The food was very well prepared and the prices easy on your wallet. The service is excellent, perhaps the best we experienced in our trip. The manager took the trouble to check on us not once but twice! Highly recommended!

Excellent!!!!! A must when in Verona.

Osteria del Bugiardo was located in a good area so we made our way over to this wine bar. Service (2.5/5): Confusing system. There was a wait for a table but no hostess outside. We eventually talked to someone and she said that while there's no list, she will remember our faces and let us know when a table is ready. Not the most efficient system but we waited about 10 minutes to be seated at the bar. Our waiter took care of us pretty well after we got in. Ambiance (3.5/5): Your typical wine bar. Nice ambiance. The only downside for me is that seating at the bar consisted of bar stools. Without back support. Which I have always hated and which hurts my back. It's also pretty tight in there when they're at capacity. Drinks (4/5): Since this is a wine bar, you know what to order. We had glasses of rose. Not the heaviest pour but the price was solid. If you're not looking for wine, they also have things like Aperol Spritz. Food (4/5): You won't find hearty fare here but you will be able to munch on a lot of small plates. I'm talking things like mini sandwiches, croquettes, meatballs, salads, etc. Which is exactly what we did. We shared a couple of tapas between the two of us. It was filling and did the job. I wasn't stuffed but it was good and on the healthier side. Overall: Osteria del Bugiardo is one of the most popular restaurants on Yelp in Verona and it's located in the heart of the city.

It was quiet when we arrived at noon and then filled up quite a lot by the time we departed. Clearly, a restaurant for the locals. First course, a big pile of a pasta called "bigolini" which I've not seen before. It is like thick spaghetti with a rough surface. That is needed because the sauce on it was quite thick and another interesting taste - nettles. Definitely different. Second course, risotto made with a red wine reduction. Very flavorful and rich and the pasta was perfectly al dente. We'll definitely need to return to here for dinner! [Review 16980 overall - 185 in Italy - 496 of 2022.]

The restaurant is very cute (free WiFi) and homey feeling with an exposed brick interior and interesting decoration choices throughout the space. If you're so inclined there's also and outdoor patio area. Maybe we just ordered poor menu items but the food was underwhelming and not particularly standout. For our anti pasta course we went with the cured meat trio with polenta. The meats weren't particularly good and combined with the bland polenta it just wasn't a good combo. For our primi pasta course we had the bigoli in a horse (yes horse) bolognese sauce. Of our three dishes this was the best. For our main meat course with did horse cheeks braised in an Amarone wine sauce with polenta. I didn't like the polenta any better on our second dish and the cheek just didn't do it for me. I ended up leaving the bulk of the dish uneaten. All in all-maybe I just ordered poorly but I if I ever make it back to Verona this spot will be a pass for me.

While it follows the form of apertivo, primi, segundi, dolci, this is not traditional Italian cuisine but what I've seen termed as "Italian contemporary cuisine." That means world class, innovative food. And we loved it. Simone Ferrigno, the manager, greeted us when we arrived and seated us at an elegantly laid out table. We ordered wine and our food, and the show began with beautiful dish after beautiful dish. And fabulous wines. We chatted with the German couple at the next table who had ordered the vegan tasting menu and they were in heaven. Alas I cannot for the life of me find the receipt with the names of the dishes we ordered. If I find it, I'll update my review. I'll just say this, exquisite food, world-class service in a beautiful ambience. After we had paid our bill (thank goodness the dollar is up relative to the Euro) and we started walking away, Simone ran after us to ask how our experience was and to thank us for our patronage. Note: A reservation is essential at L'Evangelista. I just noticed that Yelp has two Euro symbols to indicate the price is moderate. I'd actually give it four Euro symbols. L'Evangelista is not for you if you're on a tight a budget.
