I've learned a lot with the weekly classes and have made life lasting friendships within the dance community. The socials are a great way to practice what you've learned in class. I definitely recommend Salsa Sensation!

There is ample parking in the front and rear of the building, two bathrooms, hand sanitizer, and I believe they sell drinks. When you arrive, you check into the desk, sit and wait. Once the class begins you simply get up and begin. In the first class my wife and I took, the instructor was absent and we had someone fill in. The last class went over so we began 15mins late or so, which they made up having us stay later. We started learning the first basic steps "fighter" position and basic, etc for around 30mins. Then after a short break, they separated all of the men, had us all flip the footing, and we didn't have too much time for muscle memory to readjust. So they taught everyone the female position, and the men had to quickly adjust. Just be ready for it. And after that, they let us rejoin any parters we came with for a few minutes, and then had us rotate for the rest of the class to different partners as they played the music to what we learned. For someone who has never taken a dance class before, I was taken aback by the quick change of footing for the men after learning the other position for 30mins. It may be the way this is taught, but for me, and it looked like others, my muscle memory was fighting with me when I tried to flip it. As for the rotating of partners, my wife and I went in believing we would be learning together. and didn't know we'd be dancing with other partners. For the first few minutes before making us rotate when they allowed us to dance with the partners we came in with, my wife and I were very comfortable, enjoying it, and finding a synch that we so naturally have when learning. When we were made to rotate a few mins later and switch partners, it threw both of us off and when we got home we had to try and remember and go over it together since we didn't really get much of a chance together in the class. I would say that even though they have special "couple" rates, It's not an environment for couples to learn together so much as you will learn at the same time and level. I feel this is important for couples to know since we signed up believing we would be able to dance together as we learn. It seems to be designed for singles and individuals as they will definitely never have to worry about having a dance partner. All in all, it was definitely an immersive class for a first timer, with alot covered. The switching of footing for men threw me off a bit and felt like the first 30mins that were only for the men to get used to the style of movement and not the actual footing. The teachers were nice and energized, the environment was welcoming and everyone there and attending the classes was very nice. The only negative for me is that couples will not get much time learning and dancing together. So if you're looking for that, you might want another type of school or private lessons. I don't know. But my wife and I are continuing and my review may change, though I feel that more of the positive will be on their ability to teach us the technical aspects of Salsa so we can dance together at home. And a last note that the class was so packed with people that it was hard not to bump into others. We were wall to wall packed with very little space between us all.
