The best ambiance and vibe
Daniella S.

I chanced upon this amazing studio in the middle of what is to me nowhere but evidently a hot spot for the local hoofers to go strut their stuff on that gorgeously ample and smooth dance floor. This is not your Fred Astaire or Arthur Murray dance step, this is Dancing with the Stars stepping out in a big way. In fact they are owned and operated by two of the dancers from that show and they know how to do this big. I love the classy modern decor, the amazing staff who make you feel like you an old friend... It must be all those smiles and rubber necking they do on the dance floor that shapes their disposition to greet you with warmth and a flawless posture. Plenty of space to change your shoes, cubbies for your belongings, free eats, though that is not what i want to see, they have tons of goodies on display just waiting for your to be tempted. But I come to be toned and after just one class my legs, I swear, are more fabulous than when I walked in. I can not say enough about my guy Rani (spelling), tall dark slim as all get out of here and soo amazing as a teacher and so much fun to dance with. You who never have danced and claim to have two lleft feet, get on out your dancing shoes and as they say in Argentine tango, sacale la viruta!

It would be unfair to rate the place just according to one workshop that I took however I felt it…read morewas so mishandled I left disappointed and duped. So I'm throwing this out there so maybe they take notice and deliver better tango offer. I was invited by text message to take a tango workshop with Eran Who is their tango specialist I was told. I was excited for Sunday to arrive at 2 o'clock I was there promptly waiting with my tango shoes ready to take on a class I was told was going to be great. There was a variety of levels in the class and that's understandable as always. Then Alexey introduced us methodically to some steps and practice run. A very good teacher for the beginners and I was happy to get the chance to dance with someone who knew his steps. But I was confused as I was told our instructor would be Eran... but the lesson was sufficiently styled again for beginners. Then suddenly without much explanation a man named George took over the second half of the class and the structure completely disappeared. He repeated all that Alexey had spoke of and was absolutely over talked, under demonstrated and --sorry but as an Argentine milonguera and tango lyrics translator,-- I could not help but find it condescending to be instructed on the culture of tango by a Jewish Long Islander... it turned me off completely and 45 minutes later when we finally got a chance to practice what he called rock step and grapevine (terms unheard of in tango), I was done. Also one note: if you are a male beginning dancer please refrain from instructing the female out loud as if you knew more than she. Just Keep quiet, lead correctly and get out of her way so you don't trip, step, or block her. Men lead but do not rule. Take note. I've been searching for lessons around town and will continue to do so. Shame it was a shambles of a class.

I had high hopes of becoming a student at this studio November 2014. I'm the kind of person that knows exactly what I want when it comes to a dance studio; to perform showcases and dance with a partner that we both establish a great connection. Someone who enjoys teaching the way I enjoy learning. I was partnered with "Sasha" and he was nothing like that. Sasha a poor choice in every way. Strictly business, insulting, and instructed just to make money. We had four weeks until a showcase. He hated the song and dance I chose for our routine; we honestly just didnt see eye to eye on anything. I wanted to quit after the first lesson. The night of the showcase was a joke.. 30+ performers? I didnt perform until two hours later. Oh, and if you didnt pay the rediculous fee for dinner AND your performance, you were not allowed to eat that night nor sit. Rediculous. Also, Sasha was 45 min late so we barely had time to practice before we performed. He never aknowledged my existence that night, nor said goodbye when he left. I wrote a letter to the owner, Irina, explaining the whole situation as I'm telling it now. Nothing. No phone call, email, nothing. Just to "write a yelp review!" Here it is. Poor way to run your business when you charge rediculous prices.

She still has 6 credits which are super expensive, that she wants to use when she has the open slot by some miracle (these are already paid for classes) - they said sorry, we can't help. By cancelling, we need to pay another 30 days, plus she would lose her 6 credits. Aka, take over 1 month of pre paid credits to the grave, and yet still pay another month, to then be able to cancel. Zero empathy or understanding with a loyal long-time customer who simply is now unable to attend due to our children starting school for the first time, and no care in the world to help keep the credits. We didn't ask for a refund, simply to maintain them to use what was paid for in the small chance she can - and nothing from them. This is NOT how you treat loyal local customers who have referred many friends to your gym. This is not how you get customers back in your gym when schedules allow once again. Poor service, no care once you start paying, and scammy policies that make zero sense. Do the right ting - if someone pays for classes, let them use them. If someone needs to cancel due to reasons out of their control, let them go without stealing paid for courses. These simple practices are how you maintain a happy community, and my wife would've referred more friends to your gym, and instead, you now have a very unhappy and loud past customer and you will lose much more than what you're stealing from us. Good luck.

All I can say is I wish we had made the move earlier! It's never easy changing studios, but Kim and her staff went above and beyond to help my daughter feel comfortable and to ensure she was in the right classes for her ability. There are so many options for classes, both in times, levels and types. She progressed beautifully this year and felt seen and appreciated, despite being new to the company. She was embraced by the other dancers and her teachers, and feels at home even after dancing there for such a short time. While the dancers compete, I found that there is so much more to this studio than the competitions. The dancers learn choreography from every class they take, not just their competition dances. This was a striking difference for us, and afforded our daughter the opportunity to learn so much more over a years span. They even had an optional performance at Disney over the summer, which was such a memorable experience. Kids that didn't attend were not penalized whatsoever. They also encouraged their students to audition for the Joffrey summer ballet intensive. Their commitment to seeing their students improve was evident, regardless if it meant losing dancers for Disney or their own summer classes at the studio. While we have only been here a year, we have not felt that competitive/cut-throat vibe that one can feel on a competition team. It has felt very supportive and fair. The staff is all warm and approachable, and it's really been fun getting to know them outside of the studio. At the end of the day, Kim and her teachers just want to see their dancers improve. It's been a refreshing and positive change for us!

Over time we were charged more and offered less. The family who runs the studio gives lip service and says they care about kids but they really only care about money. There is a serious lack of diversity and kids who have different backgrounds and religions may not feel welcome. Kids were punished for missing a competition due to a holiday, a family member's funeral and even a serious injury which might have required surgery. One dancer was made to dance with an injury and without a brace because it would ruin "the look". Although there are some good teachers, your child can get equal instruction in a more supportive environment (with nicer owners) elsewhere.

Even though we paid a years tuition for our daughters class- the owner has decided to charge each dancer $35 before they can participate in the dance recital and will not even allow parents to purchase tickets until this is paid. Is this a studio that cares? No way. If you sign up be aware that the owner will just charge arbitrary charges and pretend it's for a trophy. Disappointing and we will not be participating in the recital at all and therefore will not purchase the 10 tickets we bought last year. We also plan to spread the word to all friends.
