    Chicken Shawarma Dinner
    Sean P.

You would never know the quality of the food at this place if you were driving by. You wouldn't also know that they have a very quaint and cute patio out back! The food was amazing! The rice had an amazing spice and flavor. The tomatoes in the salad were so fresh omg! I highly recommend you give this place a shot!

Like this much better than the real ones.

What to do when your favorite shawarma place won't be open for another 30 minutes but the hangry monster is already loose? Try a new place. Nasib's is in the same plaza as Shawarma Empire but opens one hour earlier. Bigger than SE with a washroom. Ordered a beef shawarma dinner which comes with a pita to share with hubby; I subbed out the rice for more salad. The veggies didn't look or taste as fresh as SE and the pita was thin and very chewy; however, the meat was tender. Man! The flavors were potent and the meat was salty. Next time I'm going to have to be more patient.

Nasibs is just down the street from my usual go to shawarma joint Ibrahim's BBQ but I wanted to be a bit spontaneous I guess and decided to try somewhere new. Considering the amount of shawarma shops on Lawrence you have to be good in order to stay in business and I can attest that Nasibs Shawarma is definitely up there. I ordered a simple chicken shawarma combo and it was amazing, nicely put together and the pita was toasted perfectly. Even the way the ingredients were laid out was perfect. My biggest pet peeve is when you're shawarma falls apart but at Nasibs they definitely know how to make a good wrap. It's going to be a hard choice between this place and Ibrahim's.

2 chicken shawarma for $10. I prefer Empire Shawarma. I will try Al Tanoor next time and update an official top 3.

There is some Shawarma competition along Lawrence Avenue in Scarborough. Establishments such as Empire Shawarma, Nasibs, and Al Tanoor compete for the best. Nasib's is located just a few doors down from Empire Shawarma. Advertising 2 beef or chicken shawarmas for $10, I went for it. I asked for extra sauce and spicy as I always do, but Nasib's went overboard. The first shawarma literally exploded as I ate it, make it a very messy situation versus an Empire Shawarma Lituation. The meat was meh, the vegetables were fresh, but overall, not a memorable shawarma experience. The gentleman making the food was kind, but he was handling cash as well. This one man operation lead to slow service, and this was not ideal for the lunch rush. I will not return to Nasib's in the future, and will instead try Al Tanoor or stick to Empire Shawarma.

Growing up to shawarma was my childhood version of your grilled cheese sandwich. Karama and Satwa of Dubai, UAE had the best authentic havens of this garlic delight toasted to accentuate the tenderness of the meat and catch the tang of the pickles by the fang! 2 for 1 for $7 over here! Yala yala! Nasib is prime in showcasing effortless proper execution to this masterpiece. His wife is as equally hard working and efficient with the orders. It's lovely to watch both of them contribute team work amidst (sometimes) obvious lover's quarrel as they attack each other verbally in their native tongue, although thankfully allowing no harm upon the grub. Found this place 6 years ago and have been a fan ever since. The ambiance is kept simple and the decoration holds tribute to Nasib himself ,picture painted on the glass entrance standing proud beside his ultimate money maker, the CHiCKEN MEAT stacked perfectly! His homemade spicy sauce is also really tasty, not too spicy but may be for some. His garlic sauce for me, is the seller! Some people like it mild but since I've passed the dating stages ages ago, extra some some on the side for the heartburn bending breath blister it is!

We came with a group of 10 people and ordered 6 main/entrée dishes to share family style. Let me tell you this: THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE! You get a lot of bang for your buck here for sure. Even with 10 people, we couldn't finish the 6 entrees that we ordered. We also ordered 3 sides to share, and even those were portioned generously. The star of the show is definitely their Samaka Seafood Soup. 100% recommend getting this. You will not regret it! Rich and creamy seafoody goodness. Even the ones in our group who don't usually like cream really enjoyed the soup. The Sea Bream Singari Style fish also blew us all away. The Sea Bream was so buttery and juicy, and the cooking style was so flavourful. All the other dishes were also amazing and cooked to perfection. There is nothing to complain about anything at all. The only thing I would recommend is maybe skipping/substituting some of the rice for another side. The rice is great, but it's best when eaten with something else for the best flavour. There's so much rice that there's simply not enough food to pair it with. There was only one waitress working on the night that we went, and there was about 4 other tables, so she was pretty busy. It took a while and multiple reminders for us to give us water to our table, but we understood that it was busy and she was trying her best. I definitely recommend coming here with a big group so that you can try lots of different dishes!

Anto - who manages, serves, and cooks - is a powerhouse of a chef. We got the Anto selection, a large plate of varied skewers which comes with hummus, garlic paste, salad, rice, Middle Eastern pickles, and a tomato based flatbread to scoop it all into. Easily enough for 4 people. It only takes a bite of the sliced cucumber pickle to know you're in excellent hands. Everything Anto puts on his tables are the highest quality, best prepared, most lovingly made versions of what they are. The skewers are succulent, all grilled to perfection so that you can taste what makes each one uniquely delicious while making it hard to choose a favourite. The rice is powerfully flavourful. The garlic paste is light and fluffy with a deep garlic flavour that makes everything it touches pop. The hummus is smooth, without losing any of the freshness of the chickpeas. And the bread - with it's tomato spread and parsley - is the perfect bow to bind it all together, a thin carb with just the right note of acidity to keep you eating until the massive amount of food you thought you could never fish is all gone. Anto himself is loving, generous, and passionate. He's a good soul with an unbeatable talent, and I look forward to enjoying more of his food and company. I wasn't wise enough to take a picture before I ate, but let the empty plates in the picture tell their own story. Come here. Thank you, Anto, for sharing your exquisite food with us.

From the decor on the walls to the high quality tiles there was some legit funding put into this small place. Walking in we were greeted by Anto, who was sitting by himself browsing channels on his television. He quickly sat us down and went over the menu with us, which has no descriptions or pictures. We picked the chicken dishes and ordered some coffee, which turned out to be authentic Turkish style served in beautiful cups and saucers. Packs a punch, too. Anto explained he has two restaurants back home in Armenia and he's also an actor and singer. He reminded me of Peter Stormare from Prison Break. Anyway, he explains how he prepares everything so it pleases the eyes, nose, and tastebuds and he wasn't kidding. The dish was beautiful. From the arrangement to the small details in the food itself (I could eat the roasted jalapeño on its own and be satisfied). Each aspect of the dish was special on its own so eating each part of it was like having several culinary journeys. Anto was also kind enough to give us complimentary hummus and babaganoush. Both were amazing in their presentation and subtle but on point flavour profiles. I wanted to try the tabouli but unfortunately he was out of parsley and it would be a 45 minute wait for the delivery. I will be going back just to try it, to be honest. The meal was so good we ended up ordering two different dishes to go to share with family. The beef cube dish is prepared to perfection and I'd recommend that if you're not into chicken. Everything he prepares is done with fresh ingredients, years of experience, and careful consideration. I absolutely can not recommend this restaurant enough.

So when the craving for gyros came along I knew exactly which place to try. The bright red sign Leros Grill outside the restaurant was very recognizable with Shawarma & Falafel featured prominently under the sign. Super friendly owner. He was eager to answer any questions about the food which I found to be very helpful. Not many owners make the effort or take the time to interact with their customers like he did. Got the Gyros Dinner Plate - size large - which is served with Greek Salad and grilled fluffy pita bread, it came with extra meat and 2 of the following side orders: rice, roasted potatoes* or fries. The tzatziki was delicious garlicky goodness, the feta was fresh, the tahini drizzle was a nice touch too. The large size came with extra meat and 2 sides so it was a decent size, extra flavourful, very well seasoned savoury and very delicious. It was a good choice. Note that unlike the meaty large size dinner, the regular size dinner portion is smaller and only comes with one side. I also tried the Chicken Souvlaki and Falafel balls which were both really great. The Chicken Souvlaki was unbelievingly juicy and tender for chicken breast which at other restaurants can tend to be dry. I was surprised that it was this good. The falafel balls were a good size and were crunchy on the outside giving it a nice nutty texture. Leros Grill is on par with - and dare I say BETTER TASTING than - Paramount and Johnny's Shawarma. Most of the chicken pieces were on the bone, which adds flavour IMO - but it also means 25% of that meat portion was bones, so what initially looks like a steal for $5.99 turned out to be merely fair. Not offered to customize heat level ( it was lower side of medium) I liked how the Coleslaw was neither too sweet nor too heavy on mayo. Rice & Peas was standard & unremarkable but did taste extremely fresh despite being an hour to closing time. I'd like to round them up to a 4 but that would be saying it's as good as Allwyn's & Layla's and I couldn't go that far. ( in Willowdale, they'd a 4 easily..) I still consider Rose's a solid choice.
