This is the closest I'm come to a traditional village/small town bakery in Oxford. It's a little too high quality and lacks the flies, but I'll forgive it that because it's very tasty.
I mainly come here for their hot snacks for lunch, which are sausage roll/pastry type things. They're reasonably priced and fill the spot nicely. I think their real expertise is in their bread, though. If I ate more of the stuff, I'd definitely try some of theier artisan bread. I had no idea there were so many different sorts! It's the sort of place where you feel bad asking for a white sliced life, just because there are so many more interesting things to gawp at!
Still, bread doesn't particularly excite me; I like to treat myself to their sweeter bakery goods. Some of these sell out pretty quickly, so it's best to nip in early in the day if you're after something in particular, but it's all good, and if you go in with a couple of quid, you can get some very yummy, happiness-inducing mouthfuls. It's all fresh and served with a smile, if a little rushed when it's busy. read more
