I have sent several people over to Brave Embodiment because I trust the interactions and support there are compassionate, dedicated, and above all else, ethically sound in practice. Therapy very much varies from individual to individual, just as every therapist varies in their background, skills, and expertise. While not every therapist-client relationship is meant to be or should be, I know Brave Embodiment Counseling will support clients in the direction they would be best supported - be it within their organization or another organization better suited to help a client. If you're looking for a team that combines skill, compassion, and integrity, Brave Counseling is the place to go. I can't recommend them enough!

Rather than deal with an influx of negative feedback from me and other women, Kim Massale of Brave…read moreEmbodiment Counseling removed her business from Google listings. And with it? All the negative reviews. It's pretty hypocritical for someone to claim to empower women but then actively harm and silence them. Anyhow, here is my original review: My therapist, Lindsay Fahey, terminated me after I expressed a minor concern about her behavior, citing transference. This exacerbated my trauma surrounding being abandoned and punished for advocating for myself. Her actions after I brought up the initial concern were hurtful, inappropriate, and unethical. For instance: * dismissing and insulting my trauma and concerns by calling it "baggage" * making an inappropriate comment about being in a romantic relationship with me * acting as if she knew me better than I know myself, like when I said I was scared but she decided I was actually angry * calling my natural hair "disheveled" * retaliating against me because she assumed a comment I made about a personal loss over the weekend was about her * violating my privacy when she pretended to still be my therapist (after she had terminated me) so she could get my protected healthcare information from my other healthcare provider * falsifying my medical records to say that I had terminated the relationship once she found out I had filed a complaint with DORA due to the privacy violation All of this caused me significant distress, set back my therapeutic process, and compounded the trauma she was supposed to be helping with. And my response to her reply: I believe that someone who acts unethically and inappropriately isn't a good fit for anyone, Kim. But it's clearly a modus operandi for you. As you well know--and as I know from reading Lindsay's notes--Lindsay met with you about terminating me before ever meeting with me about my concern. She never intended to resolve any issues. She made that undoubtedly clear when I asked her why we couldn't work through this and she said, "I've tried to work through client concerns many times before, and it never gets better."

I had a horrible experience here. I urge you to avoid this clinic, especially if you have chronic…read morepain or more complex injuries. The physical therapist I saw (Dr. Braden) was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional on many occasions. She took very little time in understanding my injuries, and tried to convince me I didn't have a condition I was diagnosed with. At every visit the therapist spends little time with you, usually several minutes asking repetitive questions. The rest of the time is spent on exercise machines with assistants and probably the most time with passive modalities such as heat/ice/stim, all things you can do at home and/or that have little scientific evidence of effectiveness. As the office is mostly an open space, there wasn't much privacy. I saw most other patients had similar experiences. I had problems with multiple joints and the physical therapist only examined one over six sessions. She never tested strength/balance/gait/flexibility or any of the other things physical therapists usually do. As a result the exercises were general and redundant, not at all appropriate given my situation. I have never left a bad review before, and wouldn't for just an unhelpful therapist. What really led me to write this was the questionable business practices and how the physical therapist acted. After a couple visits, she blamed me for not feeling better. I tried to explain to her that what she was doing wasn't working out, but instead of finding alternative ways, she would state certain exercises and modalities were 'supposed' to work. I left every appointment feeling worse than when I came in. A couple weeks in, she insisted that in order for therapy to be effective, I should be seeing her 3-4 times a week. She also wanted to 'progress' my exercises, but stated they would require an expensive yoga ball specifically bought from her office or else the exercises wouldn't work. She also declared that only the tens machine at her office, and not any you could use at home, were 'real'. I don't think I need to tell you lol but both these claims are untrue. At one point I changed insurance plans, and her and another person loudly complained to me in the waiting room (and not in a joking way) about how this insurance didn't compensate them as much. Then uhh just don't take that insurance?? I never made any progress here. I did later make a huge amount of progress with another pt clinic and amazing physical therapists. Maybe if you just sprained your ankle you'll be fine but otherwise avoid this place. There are many other physical therapists out there.
