It tasted like stale pound cake. It's possible that this bakery simply makes it differently, but their basbousa seemed like it was more flour-based instead of semolina-based. It also wasn't soaked in syrup like basbousa normally is. The harissa had a generous amount of nuts on top, and it was soaked in syrup. It wasn't quite as flavorful as other harissa I've had, though. My two favorite dessert places (so far) in the Bridgeview area are alBasha Sweets and Prince Sweets, so I used their basbousa and harissa for comparison.
