There is a huge disconnect and lack of communication from staff, and you will not be notified of major issues till last minute. My son's third grade teacher, Ms. Salinas has been absolutely one of the worst the worst teachers I have met. She's passive aggressive and fails to respond to messages. Instead of engaging in open, respectful communication, responses feel defensive, indirect, and unhelpful. It creates an uncomfortable environment where parent input is not taken seriously.

Going to schools is one of my favorite assignments as get to interact with different professionals in their context. This school from the mid 1950s reminds me of the one of my childhood. I felt so at ease, like if it was my own school. I loved the vibe. Many Spanish and Arabic speaking children super friendly to me when I was looking for the room I needed to work at. All they stated was to schedule an appointment to speak to "Ms. Far"..."Ms Spar". What is that suppose to do? She is there for the money and not for any child's education productivity. The incident: Today, I had got into an argument with one of the parents due to their child hitting my child. I complied with them in regards to leaving my name and number so, I can be contacted. Fast forward to me walking out of the office... "Ms. Far"..."Ms Spar"...first thing comes out of her mouth is.."The other parent felt offended about your "younger/little sibling comment"...I stated to her "Yes, Well that was because they think it's okay for her children to hit my son but, I can't say or do shit when their evil spawns hit my child first". I then notify "Ms. Far"..."Ms Spar"....that she is conducting a "favoritism" type of attitude. She denies it OF COURSE...I still can not understand why she did not have a "little private conference" with me and the other parent and not just me only. "FAVORITISM ". Basically she tried to put everything on my child. My children will not be going to this school next year. Both my children use to go to this school about a year or two ago when "Ms Far"..."Ms Spar" was not the principal and the school was ran way better. After she came into the picture...all hell has broke loose at that school...they let more non speaking students and inviting their parents there as well and now the school has been more crowded more than ever. Parents were asked not to park by the apartment complexes by the alley way and parents still park there..."On the red line"...obviously some of the parents are as bad as the principal there...they can not listen or follow directions. I would not recommend this school to send your child to until "Ms Far"...."Ms Spar", departs.

The teachers I interacted with showed so much love for their kids. What a pleasure to go back to childhood years for a few hours. Lexington is a very diverse school, with kids of many countries or origin and ethnicities. I value the work of the teachers to deal with so much diversity and cultural differences. Fast forward to present day, my daughter is in 8th grade and I am so sad she is now leaving MHA to go off to high school. Mrs Robertson is now the director at the middle school, there have been major staff changes, they even spent all summer redoing the entire inside of the school! There are walls, student lounge areas, amazing new staff, Mrs Robertson's office is right there so she can oversee everything, and there is even a counselor that comes once a week that will meet with any student or parent that might have any issues or concerns that they want to discuss, they have monthly meetings with the entire middle school about mental health as well. My daughter is thriving and loving school! We feel so confident and comfortable with her there. We love the new/returning staff, new programs, building updates, etc. I wish they had an MHA high school!! We have a younger daughter that will be at the middle school next year and we are so happy that she will be at MHA. She has some learning disabilities and the staff has been so accommodating to her. We really appreciate all the positive changes that MHA has made for this school year. Not only are the students more happy this year, you can tell the staff are excited to be there as well.
