My first visit after following them on Instagram. Very excited they opened up a location closer in Atlanta. My experience was over the top and Ashely made me feel very welcome. I'm going back and look forward to the relationship with my new Loctician!

I really like NappStar. It's a clean, beautifully designed space. Great music playing... always. The staff is courteous and the stylists are talented. NappStar has very streamlined processes in place - ranging from the appointment booking, to the client consult. I feel that many salons are missing these critical elements of customer service. I love the products. I've bought a few for my "home salon" particularly the hair oils. They smell soooooooo good. I appreciate the fact that each time I come, I trust the stylist to create a unique style that protects my hair and allows me to shine. Happy to be a regular customer.

First of all...Napp Star has impeccable customer service. I thoroughly enjoyed my first shampoo and re twist experience. The atmosphere is clean, spacious and full of positive energy! They get you in and out. I love the products used on my locs...and the smell...OH MY GOODNESS!! I SMELL LIKE A ROSE!!! I highly recommend Napp Star for your healthy loc experience!

There customer service is immaculate very welcoming and know how to articulate certain criteria for black women and men hair. I love the atmosphere of the place but yes it's pricey and the 50$ up charge had me feeling a type of way until I asked the front desk clerk why so pricey for a deposit and give me a breakdown. I can honestly say it was an amazing experience but I know I can go to other shops for cheaper prices and amazing work.

I LOVE NappStar! Annette is an amazing owner. She's confident, fun, professional and about her business. The entire team is amazing. That make you feel very welcomed and beautiful. Not to mention the do THE BEST locs. Every time I leave I look like a bad bitch purrrrrrr

1st Retwist on Starter Coils with Triangle Parts

If you are looking to start your loc journey or if you're looking to find a new stylist this is THE PLACE TO BE! When you arrive you are in for a true experience, the atmosphere is positive with great music to enhance the vibe! The owners take pride in providing star-studded service! They make sure you're comfortable and enjoying your service! I recently started my loc journey and it has been nothing short of AMAZING! I chose the coil starter Locs with triangle parts in April and this is my SECOND re-twist and the experience gets better and better! My Locs are very healthy and budding very nicely. I wanted to recommend MORGAN as your preferred stylist! She managed to tame my mane, it can be quite challenging but she did GREAT with very crisp parts! Don't forget the smell of their signature oils, makes you want to buy EVERY SCENT, peppermint is my favorite! Thank you Nappstar for a wonderful experience each time! #HerthoughtsBlack #nappstaratl

Locs are very sacred to a lot of us customers and having new hands in our heads isn't as comfortable for a lot of us.

I literally had one of the best haircuts of my life with Ginger at this salon. For the past 10…read moreyears, I have had my hair cut in different versions of a bob - it was time for a change. So I have been searching for a hair salon / stylist in Atlanta who I can trust to give me something new. Plus, I had just been laid off, and needed a positive change. So, I went in with a couple of haircut images from a magazine, and crossed fingers. First of all, Ginger looked at the photos and asked me, "What is it that you like about this hairstyle?" Now, that's a smart question. Then, she listened. My haircut has exceeded my expectations in every way (see photos.) I actually have a hair style that is very much of the moment that is effortless to style (I wet it every morning, run product through it, and let it air dry - that's all.) At one point, I realized Ginger was in a flow state when she was cutting my hair - that's the point when you are so in sync with what you are doing that we all look for when we perform a sport, play an instrument, draw, construct something, repair an engine - anything that utterly engrosses your mind & you are taking pure pleasure in what you are doing. Ginger has mad skills. I almost did not want to post this because I know competition for appointments could increase, but - that would be selfish, and she should be recognized as a talent.

Marlon has been giving me the BEST cuts for over 5 years. I highly recommend him. Sometimes I'm not…read moresure what I want to do with my hair, but he listens and makes recommendations. I always leave happy and feeling great. Marlon is always fun to chat with and that's one my favorite parts of the visit. The salon is clean, the atmosphere is relaxed and it's never overcrowded like most salons I've ever been to. Parking: there are a few spots in front of the salon and a few more behind the building. However, there is a large (free) parking lot less than a block away on Lake St (very short walk).

First haircut since I moved here from Brooklyn- my wavy/ curly hair had not been cut since August…read more2023- and the whole experience wildly exceeded my expectations. First of all, Rutabaga salon = John. So, no distractions. Chill environment, John has quiet confidence & is comfortable in his skin, so you are instantly at ease. You can just be yourself. (Not every salon or stylist is like this- sometimes it feels like poser central & it's just exhausting.) We talked about what I wanted, he washed my hair, and cut it- conversation flowed easily, but I also sensed that if I just wanted to be quiet that would have been fine also. But- let's talk about the cut! Layers can go very wrong with my hair, so I have avoided them for 5 years. Length weighs my curls down so that it is wavy. When it is cut: boing! And my curl pattern is irregular. I don't blow it dry. My styling method is: wet my hair. Add non-silicon leave in conditioner (As I Am, Camille Rose, JVN). Maybe a little salt spray or tiny bit of oil once it dries. John, of course, knew this, because he *asked*. Post haircut- I wake up- my hair looks great. My hair looks amazing wet, too. The layers frame my face and don't do anything weird-- you have NO idea how many times that has not been the case. [The last time I had layers it was a "precision" cut and the stylist used some kind of cream full of beeswax that my porous hair sucked up. I looked like I had a wig. And of course that was the week I had my corporate head shot.] So, TL; DR: Reasonably priced, first-rate haircut. Focused, expert stylist who will put you at ease. TWO TIPS: parking for the salon is on E. Howard, so make the turn either right after you cross the railroad tracks or right before- depending on which way you are going. Book in advance!! Unsurprisingly, he stays busy. I booked my March appointment in February- it was well worth the wait, but don't expect to call & get a slot straightaway.

John was able to cut my hair exactly like I wanted it but did not know yet! Now I bask in the…read morecompliments!

My first review did not post. Here I go again. My wife got absolutely scammed by Cartez. She went…read morein for a consultation for a perm. Showed the reference photos. He said to grow it out another month and scheduled the perm. She was so excited and he assured her he could achieve what she wanted. Unfortunately, that clearly did not happen. She left and called me in tears too embarrassed to say anything and out $340 for nothing more than a traumatic salon experience. There are no curls whatsoever. The rods used were way too big for her short hair. This is essentially a root lift. Not what she asked for. The cut is shorter and choppier than what she wanted in the back. The rods were all over the place and not in line, causing her hair part to be jagged considering there are no curls to cover it. I called the store and asked to speak with the owner. I keep getting the run around and more excuses I'm not buying. This is unacceptable at any reputable salon which means this clearly isn't one. After several run around calls with the front office coordinator, Cartez graciously offered to fix her hair, but how can we trust him when he couldn't do it the first time and has so many other terrible reviews naming him between here and google. I keep being told Tiffany will call me. That was Thursday. Now it won't be until Tuesday. If I don't hear anything by Tuesday I am coming in person to be dealt with. I'm not being ignored or gaslit. This is wrong, unethical and fucked up to charge someone such an astronomical amount for something they did not ask for and then gaslight them into thinking they know what they are doing. Cartez shamed her for going to a barber shop, rushed because his next client came in, and really took advantage of the pink tax by charging her 88 dollars for a women's cut, while by the looks of other comments a mens is somewhere around 40. Like I said I'm not buying the excuses being told via the middleman, and I don't care to be a Karen when it is warranted. If this isn't resolved I will literally not stop shitting about it online. Tiffany, call me please.
