I've only been here once, but I probably won't be back because I live about an hour away, or I would give it a second chance. In short, We waited a long time for everything and the food wasn't great. To start, there was nobody up front when we came in, so we just stood there and looked at the menu for a while and then we were eventually seated. After a while passed the same lady who seated us came to take our drink order, and we were all a bit confused as to why that didn't just happen when we first got seated because it was the same woman, but that's a minor detail. There were 3 other tables with patrons, one large group of 6 or so a couple, and our group of 4, it appeared there was 2 waitresses working. After another long while, the same woman came back and asked us if we wanted to order an appetizer, and our table ordered the calamari. Again it took a while but it did eventually come out, I did not try it as it smelled very very "fishy" and I already don't like seafood normally but the rest at the table said it was very bland and the sauce tasted like it was from a pizza sauce jar. So, again it took a while for them to take our entree order but eventually it happened. We waited awhile again. Then randomly the waitress brought bread out to us, nothing special just some rolls with butter. But then about 3 min later our entrees came out, it would have been nice to have gotten the bread with our appetizer but. The food was ok. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, it was very bland and the Alfredo sauce was so thin I had to use the spoon they give you as I ate the noodles to get any sauce with it. I added salt, pepper, and a whole lot of that kinda gross table cheese, and it tasted like something at least after that. I would have given 3 stars but I was a little disturbed by one detail. There was a very adorable girl, maybe 5 years old running around, and she clearly belonged to the owner or someone working there because she ran into the kitchen shouting for her mom. I'm all for small family owned places and kid friendly atmospheres, and I love seeing the family's kids included in family businesses, I think it's great. BUT the little girl didn't have shoes on and she was running around the kitchen, which just bothered me probably more than it should have.. it she was just in the front or somewhere where the food wasn't being prepared I would not have any issues with this. I'm from Omaha, but was in town for work. I decided on Napoli's based on other promising recent Yelp reviews. We visited at 6pm on a Thursday in July. I had hopes for some hot and comforting pasta Alfredo, nothing too fancy (this is a small Nebraska town after all) but certainly living up to recent 5 star review. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, kind of a long, narrow restaurant, with tables along the center "aisle". The hostess was polite. The server was polite but certainly not friendly. We started with the mussels marinara. Unfortunately the mussels and sauce were lukewarm at best. This plate was not served with any crostini or bread, basically just a plate of mussels, so we asked for some bread on the side (which was nice). Our entree's were the same: lukewarm, and very "meh". $85 for 2 entree's, 1 appetizer and a (bad) bottle of wine. Take your business elsewhere; for mediocre room temperature food you can get away with a much smaller check. read more

Nice enough place, seems like a great place for a work lunch. Service was ok. The food was tasty. I got the tortellini modo mio and tiramisu. Tiramisu was really good and lasted for a while in a box in the grocery store without melting which was nice. I expected it to be a mess. The tortellini tasted great. Weirdly soupy but would have been good with more bread if I was extra hungry. It came out suspiciously quickly but I wasn't overly worried. When I looked at the broccoli, however, I realised it was almost certainly frozen from a bag. I don't understand this. Like you have grocery stores a few blocks each way that definitely have real unfrozen broccoli. It's not rare or expensive. It's so easy to chop. You can get it pre chopped in a bag if you want. Doesn't go bad super quick. Tortellini I understand. Do whatever. But broccoli? Why? It tasted good, but I'll do it myself next time. With fresh broccoli. Because it takes at most 2 extra minutes. I'll probably be back for dessert though. read more

I must say I had high expectations when we walked in here based on the star reviews they have on Google. I was visiting Norfolk from Miami, FL so I know is a small town, but where can you go wrong with Italian food? The service was great! The wine the waitress recommended us was also great. We ordered the mussels appetizer, and the sauce on the mussels was really good but the mussels itself weren't. We ordered the combination special and shrimp Alfredo (I substituted the fettuccine for spaghetti). We were not impressed with the pasta, I was expecting real Italian taste and did not get that at all. The Alfredo sauce was bland and not creamy at all. And the combination special was not good either, it didn't have much meat, and given that it was a combination of lasagna, baked ziti and something else you would think there would be some meat in it. It is sad that the food isn't better because they do provide a good service, the pizza looked good but we didn't try that. Maybe other food items on the menu are better. read more

We will not be going back!! We have a family of 6, 2 parents & 4 children. They charged us an automatic gratuity. Our waitress ended up getting an almost $20 tip which she did NOT deserve. We ordered the appetizer sampler and it included 6 onion rings, 3 mozzarella sticks, and 3 cheese raviolis. Not worth the $13.95!! Our food came out fairly quickly and was decent, that's the only reason I gave one star. We had to ask 3 times for them to bring out dinner rolls, they apparently are very stingy with them. She brought them out and they were about the size of a quarter and no butter. Absolutely ridiculous. We have eaten here in the past and it has gone significantly downhill. My boyfriend who lives in Norfolk gets takeout from here often when he wants Italian but doesn't want to cook - which I think this place is great for that! The Greek salad was the best thing, aside from the bottle of wine we ordered. Our meal came with two rolls. The food was good but not a place that leaves me wanting more. Pretty stereotypical Italian restaurant. White columns, fake olive vines, fat Italian chef statues, Frank Sinatra music and all. However, for the area, it was pretty good. I got the Napoli's Special, which was good. It was chicken and sausage over spaghetti with a nice pink sauce. There was way too much sauce though. My dish was swimming in it. But that's not too big of a deal. If this restaurant would have been in Omaha, I'd give it two, maybe three stars. However, considering that it's in Norfolk, it's likely one of the best restaurants in the area, so I give it 5. I'll definitely be coming back when I'm in the area. read more

We will not be back! First - please train your staff NOT to chew gum, while waiting on customers. Having your waiter speak to you while chewing gum should have been our sign to leave. We thought it was just our server and blamed it on his youth - but several other people who came over, where chewing gum. If you are going to allow them to chew gum, please teach them how to chew properly. Second - we should have left after our appetizers came out 5 minutes after ordering. True authentic Italian, takes time to cook. Do not pre-make appetizers and then warm in microwave. Also, listen to customer- we said NO thank you when you offered rolls. Yep - brought them out a few minutes later. Last - Entrees. My daughter ordered lasagna from the kids meal as she wanted a small portion. They brought out cheese with one lasagna noodle. When we questioned the look of lasagna, they tried saying that is what lasagna is. Please go back to culinary school if you really think that. For the other entrees- bland. My husband was sick all night from his Chicken and Shrimp Special. My Chicken Marcelo was like soup and oily. Never had it that way before. Another child ordered Fettuccine Alfredo - sauce looked and tasted like it came from jar. We gave a 1 Star as my daughters personal pizza was good. Shiplap walls, White pillars, old-world styles - ambiance was neat and typical of any good Italian restaurant. It was a pleasant surprise in Norfolk. We ordered four pasta dishes, including a shrimp Florentine, and all of them turned out very well. The Mascarpone cheese lemon cake for dessert was the best. What I liked was the waitress said she could switch the meat and vegetables in any of the dish on the menu. Plenty of vegetarian option to explore. Service was good and felt very intimate. I feel bad leaving this review, but I also feel that it's my duty to report that this might be one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. The décor, albeit a bit cheesy, is kind of cute- decorated like the streets of Italy-but the cuteness stopped there. The service was inefficient at best, with wait staff that looked put out by every request and trip they had to make to our table. We had to ask twice for appetizer plates, why??? All of the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli, which is NOT Lobster- it's actually cheese ravioli with the most miniscule pieces of Lobster I've ever seen, sparingly swimming around in the sauce, drowning the ravioli. The Spinach Artichoke dip was a joke- runny with a strange off-flavor. I'm pretty sure they just dump some spinach in with a jar of Alfredo, it was very strange. The tables had plastic covers on top of table cloths- really? This is the epitomy of tacky; you want to say you have linen tablecloths but you want to be able to re-use them, gross. We were sat in the back because we had a bigger party, and it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. No music, no anything. ZERO AMBIANCE. My family went here for a nice dinner, and I'm so glad that they wanted to, b/c it was great. The restaurant is very nice, with painted scenes inside and just a friendly, open feel to it. The servers were very nice and dealt well with our larger group. There were several vegetarian options, and all the ones that our table ordered were good. I got the one w/ the wine sauce, which was too peppery for my taste, but other people liked it. The red-sauce was really good. The portion sizes were large enough for leftovers. Went here yesterday, and although the exterior is pretty lackluster, the interior of the restaurant is swarming with style and character, with beautiful decorations and a nice atmosphere. However, the food itself is pretty forgettable. Apart from the tattered menus, it's obvious their salads and rolls are pre-made, and the pasta I ordered was overcooked. Not to say that this is a bad place, it could work well if you're looking for an atmospheric restaurant, but if you want some good Italian cuisine, you might be better off at Valentino's. read more

I have only eaten "in house" one time for a business lunch. The place was pretty devoid of customers but the food and (slow) service were good. PIZZA!!! Many take out pizzas have left this establishment in my hands and it is a very good non-franchise pizza. Excellent crust. I wish there was a tad more sauce on the pie, so I order extra sauce. Plenty of chain pizzas in Norfolk, so it is nice to have something original to offset Caesar's Domino Hut. If your looking for pizza to impress your big city pizza snob family and friends, they'll still complain but will respect the effort! read more

Been there once and never again if I can help it! Seriously, there was such anticipation for a new place to eat in town, you walk in and are led into this "place". The theme of pretending to eat "al fresco" somewhere in europe inside a building with lamposts with fluorecent lighting and the eco of people talking is magnified as every sound bounces off the walls and floor, make the ambiance quite harsh. They don't have a liquor licence, so even enjoying a glass of cheap wine with a lack-luster menu and service is enough for me. I went to Napoli's because the hotel I stay at recommended it. It is a spacious place in a downtown building. I had cheese tortellini in a white wine herb sauce with chicken and broccoli. We tried this restaurant after reading the good reviews on Google. Finally the stars aligned tonight and my husband and I both wanted to go to the same place and try it out. I ordered the lasagna chicken parmesan with alfredo. My husband being a seafood lover ordered the spaghetti with clam sauce. Bread came out first, it was very good. Food came out quick as well. My alfredo was ok. I was expecting olive garden alfredo sauce so sadly I was disappointed. The sauce was watery, and was very bland. My Chicken parmigiana was not crispy and was soggy. My lasagna was excellent and I ate all of that in about 2 seconds. My husband said his dish was really good so I'll give them that, in addition the portions were fairly large. We both needed boxes to take home. I ordered a tiramisu for us for dessert, while my husband ordered a stromboli to go for later. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had! Large portions for a reasonable price. The stromboli later was very good as well, and it also was very large. The waitress didn't tell us we went to her with the check so we waited 10 minutes for her before finally getting up to pay at the front. Overall decent experience. If this place were in Omaha I'd give it a 3, but for it being in Norfolk I'm giving It a 4. I will get the lasagna next time with tiramisu for dessert for sure. We will definitely be back. read more

Yes we came in with a party of 8 and I get that there were set tips when you have parties but no one explained it to us. She wasn't clear at all. She was very hard to understand. She also mumbled under her breath that she knows she's a bitch. When I go to restaurant I want to be treated with respect and kindness. I don't like being treated poorly or told what I have to tip because girls previously to me did not tip high enough so the rest of the tip got dumped on the rest of us. This place should be ashamed of themselves serving the food they did. I ordered the dinner portion of lasagna thinking I would bring home leftovers. The slop they served was all of 1/2 inch thick. Basically some tomato sauce with a couple of alfredo style noodles and a glob of melted cheese on top. A frozen Stouffers is better than that crap. No sides or salad and they charge $12.95. Amazing food! Not sure what the other posters are talking about - the bread was fresh and very good, and my lobster ravioli was decadent (the sauce was also perfect for dipping the bread in). Another person I dined with got a chicken pasta with broccoli in a divine garlic sauce - I would definitely recommend that!! The ambiance was quaint, and the price was extremely good for the quality of food (about $8-12 for the average dinner). While there, we were even able to meet the owners - they are from Italy, which explains why the food was such good quality. They are trying to get a liquor license, so that will be available soon. If I wasn't moving away I would definitely become a regular! My only complaint is that I didn't find it sooner! read more
