Yet her externship placement has her spending her time in a nursing home doing work that feels far removed from the nursing education we believed we were paying for. We invested thousands of dollars expecting a professional nursing education and meaningful clinical experiences that would prepare her for a nursing career. The environment has raised concerns for me as a parent. Seeing a police officer regularly stationed outside the campus is not what I expected from a school that advertises itself as a place to build a healthcare career. Instead of feeling confident and inspired when I visit, I often leave questioning whether I made the right decision. What frustrates me most is the lack of follow-up when concerns are raised. Students and families deserve answers, communication, and support. When you're paying thousands of dollars, your concerns should matter. This school may not be the right fit for everyone. Before you sign enrollment papers, tour multiple schools, ask hard questions, investigate where clinicals and externships take place, talk to current students, read reviews, and compare graduation outcomes.
