Dishonest, keeps security deposit no matter how immaculate we left it. He had a suspicious air about him. Rude

Bought my first RV on Facebook Marketplace. I had no interest in buying from a dealership. I've…read moreheard the nightmare stories (no support, no service, lies, lemons, etc.). But when I was looking for a replacement for my Class A, Vacationland had the exact unit I was looking for listed at a great price. Worked with Noah and Joel to walk the unit. Had my own inspector come through. The gave us HOURS to pick through the unit with a fine-toothed comb; they never rushed us or hovered. Honestly, it was the integrity of the team that made the purchase a no-brainer Had to get some work done on it after purchase and worked with Mark and Mike. I don't have a single complaint. Mark treats me like an old friend every time he sees me; asks me about my kids, remembers their ages. Mike gave me a demonstration of the unit before I drove off in it. Can't say enough how Vacationland has redeemed my perspective on RV dealerships!

My First Impression was quite positive…read more I've recently become interested in Camping / RV'ing. I have no other previous experience with Camping, but common sense told me I would not enjoy sitting in a tent on a bleak, rainy day, like Abel does. My wife and I call him "Misery Camping" when we see him on YouTube. She has no interest in Camping *or* RV'ing - so I knew I'd want a teardrop with room for me and my dog. After a couple months of *very* diligent research, I've analyzed my Requirements (and sadly, my budget!), to determine which of many options "was best for me". Using that learning window, I emerged with nuCamp 650 as one of my "Prime Contenders". So, I got on Facebook, joined a couple of NuCamp Groups, and asked for the name of a RELIABLE local Dealer. The name "Vacationland, in Big Rock" kept turning-up, all with positive comments attached. Vacationland's website states they are Family Owned / Family Run - which is an absolute *must* for me, versus a "McRV Juggernaut" (especially one brand that Liz Amazing constantly calls-out on YT.) I drove myself out to Big Rock, and with a touch of trepidation (I'm a newbie!), went inside on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I was greeted by Joel, who sat down and looked-over my notes describing what I was looking for. I was honored (and proud of) the fact that he immediately mentioned the NuTab trailers - the same one I had honed my list to. He walked me out to the lot. He was helping another set of Customers, so he asked if I minded - I said "of course not!", and he left me with his permission to wander and explore anything I saw. So I checked out the 650's, taking videos and pictures, sitting by myself in the campers in the rain to gauge whether my claustrophobia would kick-in. It didn't, and Joel came back every 10 minutes or so to see how I was doing. His "being cool" with me just wandering around gave me the opportunity to collect data with NO PRESSURE - which in turn changed my requirements just a little bit - now to a 650 Black Canyon. Even more amazing (to me, anyway) - when I showed those videos to my "never ever camping Bride", she was intrigued, and said she'd accompany me on at least one trip, someday. THAT's Progress! I left Vacationland with a very good impression. Although I didn't buy anything on Saturday, I was not pressured to... and Joel's attitude told me an awful lot about the Dealership, too. When Purchase Time approaches (retirement, spring 2027) I'm going to go there *first*. My compliments!

Hometown was the only to answer questions in a detailed forthright way. Cost of repairs was below expected (and less than Ehrhardt's on Oakton in Des Plaines). Everything we asked for on the work order they fixed and fixed well. Tony (owner) is a friendly and knowledgeable guy, excellent customer relations; Jim did the work (ask for him), he is a repair guru. Kudos to those who helped Jim, too. It was one of the best decisions travel-wise that we've ever made. It was a blast. Making arrangements was straightforward and easy. We explained what we wanted to Renata. She explained the costs. She was responsive to our calls and made it easy to get contracts and paperwork in order in time for the rental date. Even though we procrastinated a bit with the paperwork. The RV itself was a 24-foot 2011 Thor Majestic. It was great. It had everything that we needed. Had kitchen, fridge, shower, toilet, and 3 beds. Driving it was easy. I was especially grateful that Renata gave us a tour of the RV and explain how to use all of its functions. That made camping a lot less stressful. Altogether, the experience was great and we would easily rent again R&R.

We wanted to rent a trailer for 2 wks holiday and the trailer was filthy and had all kind of malfunctioning parts. Watertank did not hold its water, fridge did not work on gas, spare tire missing, and awning really dirty and broken. We had to go to the repair shop ourselves. Renata was very rude and started yelling. Our text messages you can read below. I decided to return the trailer the 2nd day.

Fast forward to 4 Months ago: I called Rich (manager), and informed him that we are growing and needed a bigger trailer and soon, we would need more. He was happy for me, and loves to see business grow. He is extremely nice, great salesman but it's important for customers to know what ACTUALLY happens AFTER you make your purchase. We purchased a 6X12 trailer which I assumed to be another Cargo Mate, but AFTER doing all the paperwork I was informed it was not in fact a Cargo Mate but a Commander. Big Tex Trailer World recently got bought out and started manufacturing lower end trailers according to Rich, THATS why I was getting such a "good deal." Within the first 5 minutes of driving off with the trailer I experienced a wheel hub wobble and flickering lights. When I brought it back, they gave me the runaround and told me "That's what it's supposed to do." After going back and forth and going to a different trailer place, they told me the wheel hub was in fact bent. It only took 3 hours of arguing until he "warrantied" out the hub-something I shouldn't have even had an issue with given that before signing I was told I have a no hassle "bumper to bumper" warranty coverage. Awesome, I got it replaced. 2 months later my leaf springs completely snap with the trailer not even close to hauling full capacity. I called them 3 times-all 3 times I got the same response: "I'll have to look up the warranty information and I will call you back." Still haven't heard back. I wish this company all the luck-they are extremely nice to your face and are really good at convincing you you're getting a good deal-but BEWARE. This Commander rust bucket won't even sell for half the value of what I paid-a 2019 should not be in this terrible of condition compared to my Cargo Mate. Good luck keeping customers with this type of quality.

Other companies I contacted simply told me they could not obtain the trailer nor did they have any information as to when they might be available. Big Tex in Homer Glen went out of their way to contact manufacturers individually, comparable trailer brand reps and other resources within their network to set me up with the best fit for my specs. I appreciate the customer service and effort put in by these guys and was refreshed to deal with a company that cared as much as I did about ending up with the right product. Thank you !
