We can't thank Jim of Napa Tour Experts enough for the phenomenal 2 days of keeping us safe and entertained while driving us around the Napa Valley. Jim was kind, professional and kept us on track throughout the trip. We reserved Jim for 24 Hours and he provided us with amazing recommendations, formulated the logistics of our itinerary and took pictures of us. Jim is a girl dad and was the best person to take us millennial women around! Thank you so much Jim! We will only request you on our future trips!

I chose to keep my initial review short, but after the 12 minute phone call I had with "David" (aka Jerry Jacobs), who called to "educate" me and would not let me get a word in without talking over me, perhaps I can set the record straight here. Under the California Public Utilities Code section 5360, a company that drives a rental car for hire is considered a "charter-party carrier of passengers" and must be registered with the California Public Utilities Commission and insured as such. (Google "Charter Party Carriers CPUC"). "David", instead, does not have a TCP license (he used to, apparently, for his now-defunct company Continental Chauffeur), nor is this business "Napa Private Driver" registered with the state at all. I asked several times for the business name that he has registered with the Secretary of State and he said, several times, "Napa Private Driver." The business is simply not registered. "David" apparently does not have any commercial insurance, and instead thinks each of his drivers should carry their own personal insurance. (Uber and Lyft have learned the hard way that it doesn't work like that.) If one of these drivers is in an accident, he (and his customers) leave it up to the driver to be personally liable for any damage or injury they cause. This is illegal in California. "David" may tell you, like he tried to tell me, that there is no such thing as commercial insurance for this type of business. Also not true, and all insurance carriers that provide this type of insurance can be found on the CPUC website. Companies that are operating legitimately will be registered with the CPUC and be happy to share with you their TCP number, their commercial insurance policy information, and the actual name of their business (and maybe even THEIR actual name). Otherwise, proceed at your own risk. "David," I am not "just trying to hurt you," as you weirdly asserted during our conversation. If you truly did not know what I've outlined here (despite your claim that you've been in this business for 35 years), now you do and you can freely provide the information to your customers in the future. Otherwise, you are just electing to endanger the public.

OMG! Jenny was a sweetheart! She made the trip fun by making sure we made it to each of our destination wineries on time! She asked us what we wanted from the day and kept us having fun. I can't wait to print some of our pictures, she knew the best photo opportunities. We will definitely be taking another trip with her.

We returned to Sonoma in 2026 with a small group and booked another tour. Booking and communication was a breeze. Very good. Ends up the property I rented offered a wine passport and we were to receive a discount. I called to confirm and they let me know the driver would apply the discount when we paid him the day of the tour. All sounded wonderful and was very clearly communicated. The tour in 2026 only went to 3 wineries. Two were just ok and one was not good. I don't think anyone on our tour purchased anything here. The time at each winery was like a typical tasting with some information on their winery. But no real information on Sonoma and Napa and the history of the area. At the end our driver had no clue on our discount and kept telling me he would get in trouble for charging me less. He insinuated I was making it all up. In the end he did honor the discount but seemed he did it as a favor not that it was a program that Platypus participates in. All in all I was disappointed in this wine tour and would no go on a platypus tour again and would not recommend them. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Luckily all the people on our tour were delightful so that made for a nice day.

Napa Sonoma Wine Tasting Driver absolutely exceeded my expectations, and I wished I had hired them for my wedding! The booking process was seamless and transparent. I appreciate how much they communicated with me to confirm the itinerary and sent reminders leading up to the day. We booked an SUV for the day, and the car was in pristine condition and perfect for our group of 6. Our driver, Tony, was very professional and went above and beyond to make our day comfortable and easy. He was punctual, responsive, and safe as he took us to our many destinations for the day. All of this amazing service came at a very reasonable and competitive price. I 1000% recommend hiring Napa Sonoma Wine Tasting Driver for any of your limo/driving needs! They could have been difficult about billing adjustments but really went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Instead of making us feel stressed about the lost time, Nick handled everything and made sure we could simply relax and enjoy ourselves. He was professional, incredibly personable, knowledgeable about Napa Valley and genuinely cared about making our day special. The vehicle was beautiful, comfortable and immaculate, and the level of service was exactly what you would expect from a luxury private tour -- actually, even better. We travel frequently and have used many private drivers and tour companies, and Nick is one of the best we've ever had. What really sets him apart is his willingness to adapt when things don't go according to plan. Anyone can provide a great tour when everything runs perfectly; Nick proved how valuable he is when it didn't. If you're looking for a private driver or luxury wine-country tour in Napa or Sonoma, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nick and Perata Luxury Tours. We will absolutely use him again. However when I think Napa I think wine tasting hopping between venues, exploring different wineries and really immersing yourself in what the valley has to offer. So make time to do both! The Wine Train doesn't quite deliver that and the views from the dome were honestly just okay. For the price point I think the better Napa experience is booking a private driver and hitting multiple venues at your own pace. The food is upscale and could use seasoning in my opinion. But still good. You get 4 courses. Breakfast, Dinner (refer to pic of menu), a cheese course, and a Dessert course. Look - Beef or Chicken- delicious- you cant go wrong and pick the creme brulee as Dessert. If you drink wine (and i mean DRINK WINE) you will absolutely get the bang for your buck. But if youre just there for vibes maybe spring for the lesser price ticket. We stopped at 2 wineries. The last had an Italian market with snacks and sandwiches. The tours itself were informative but wouldnt say fun. Personally wish they had a later start time. The check in starts at 945a and we were done by 4:30p. I feel like my group was tired and took us a minute to get into it. It also rained. But didnt stop our group from dancing in it and the employees joined in which was amazing!! Hands Down the Best Driver in Napa Valley!…read more I discovered George on Yelp, and after comparing other Napa car services--many quoting well over $1,000 for wine tours--it's clear why his customers rave about him. His reviews truly say it all! There were plenty of reasons we chose George over the rest. From our very first contact, George was incredibly responsive and communicative. I had a party of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids) for my husband's 40th birthday celebration and needed a vehicle that could securely accommodate a car seat with a latch system--his car was absolutely perfect. He arrived right on time, greeted us warmly, and was super easy to talk to. Throughout the day, George consistently arrived within minutes at each of our destinations. He didn't just drop us off--he guided us to the exact entrances and exits of every winery, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. On top of that, he shared insightful feedback about why each winery is special, adding a whole new level of appreciation to our tour. Another bonus, he provided water in an iced cooler and white glove door service! What really stood out was George's impressive local knowledge. Without even needing navigation, he expertly drove us from Petaluma to Napa while sharing fascinating stories and history about the wineries, estates, and the region itself. We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing!
