We were in Marksville for a conference and decided to eat at Nanny's. We went expecting breakfast only to find out that breakfast was not all day. That is a suggestion to maybe consider serving breakfast at least until 2p. However, the food was delicious. We had, bone-in wings for appetizers, 3 strips of catfish with onion rings, T-bone steak with eggs and toast, and the chicken fried steak with creamed potatoes. All three dishes were really tasty. The food was freshly cooked and came out hot. That was really appreciated. A couple of recommendations - have server mention that the steaks are thin and offer to put the gravy on the side for the chicken fried steak. Our server was only 3 weeks in, but she was attentive and timely. The atmosphere was good as well. We will eat there again. read more

I enjoyed my breakfast at Nanny's. My server was more than hospitable. She made sure I knew what the "special" was that morning and it was exactly what I wanted: 2 eggs sunny side up, bacon, grits and a biscuit. I could not have made it better myself and I can fry or poach some "perfect" eggs. There are no negatives with my first visit. The Community Coffee was delicious and my server filled my "to go" travel mug. My meal, coffee and tip was less than $10 and so much better than McDonalds or the IHOP! Awesome breakfast- great service! Found this place on Yelp after waking up at Paragon on a Saturday morning with no good breakfast options. My wife ordered the Deluxe Breakfast and I ordered the Chilaquiles with an extra side of French Toast. Food was super fresh and tasty, well prepared, and we washed it down with bubbly Diet Coke and some perfectly brewed Community Coffee. Prices were very reasonable. When you walk in it smells like a diner should, rich flavorful smells of goodness! It's an old diner it's quaint. It's clean and there's plenty of seating! They have a special little line by the cash register a kind of cafeteria hot food line and they fill up plates and to go containers. A nice menu burgers steaks and sea food. A nice little salad bar they brought a bowl for me to make my dinner salad, I like that just fine! I had some of their potato salad too it's really good! Julie had a big bowl of vegetable beef soup and I had a hamburger steak both came with garlic bread, I had mashed potatoes too. I was full when I left and that's the idea. Our server was fun, but she was busy hopping from table to table. Nanny's is on our list of good places to go when we head back to Marksville!! Next time I'm going to try a burger! This was a decent diner we stopped at on our way to Natchitoches. Our waitress was friendly, and even brought some complimentary cake out. The booths were all ripped up and the diner is a little on the run down side altogether. What do you expect from a place called Nanny's though? I ordered the buger and fries which was on special. It was decent, nothing to write home about though. The fries were not seasoned at all, no salt nothing. I asked for a side of ranch and that was not the best ranch I have had. We were looking for a hole in the wall and we found one. Unfortunately We wanted brunch and we went in too late. They stop at 10:20! But its okay because they had free chocolate cake! That was sweet of them to give us. When we walked in there was a regular who seemed to really like his burger. We also heard that their twice baked potatoes are really good. Gotta say tho, we've got way better burger joints in Zachary (our local) and the fries were plain too. But it was cheap and friendly. Thanks for the sustenance on our trip! read more

I'm from Lafayette and when I "moved" here I ate at this place and was very skeptical at first but when I walked in I was greeted by the nicest lady ever, who now my son loves (he calls her his friend now). We stopped by Nannys on a Friday morning while on a visit to the area. We waited to be greeted or told to take a seat and that was slow coming. We finally got menus ( which was very soiled paper) .After a nice wait we got to order. Then about !5 minutes later we got OUR GREAT MEAL. They only had 5-6 other customers . Dry hard cold toast ,cold grits cold HOT cakes ,bacon that must have been from a wild hog .I ask nicely for warm food & got MICROWAVE WARMED UP EXCUSE FOR PANCAKES. My wifes hashbrowns make Mc D s look great.Ask for syrup & butter .Get watered down ****.Had to ask for coffee . Which was fair. We have been all over the country & had good & Bad food/service. Nanny's is a great example of Louisiana hospitality! We are traveling from Texas and saw this on Yelp. The lady running the place and her staff are sweet and very accommodating. Good breakfast at a reasonable price. This morning I had the biscuits with gravy along with a side of bacon and hash browns. I had coffee and ice water to drink. The biscuits were homemade and really good. The gravy was your typical white gravy from a distributor, but they put some sausage in there. The gravy with sausage had just a tinge of spicy to it, just the way I like it. The hash brown was a pre-made frozen patty type. I would have preferred some shredded potatoes or home fries, but they were good enough. The coffee was good, but was served in a tiny cup, maybe 50-75% size of a regular cup. So overall, the food was good. The service was ok. They could have checked up on me a time or two after I was served. They were friendly enough. The total bill came up to $10 + tip. They did have free wifi. I'd give it 3-1/2 stars and would definitely go back for another visit. read more

I've come here since I was little. The service is always great, even when busy, and they remember their usual customers and treat everyone like family. Mr. Byron is very kind, and one waitress there, Pam, was so kind to my family; we regularly keep in touch now and are like family friends. This is a family restaurant through and through.
