Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and onion rings

The food and service was really good and the place was clean. Your order the food, pick up your drink and silverware and then sit at any table where they will bring your food.

I came to gamble but got hungry. The chicken and sausage gumbo hit the spot and tasted like homemade. The service was great and fast so I could get back out on the gaming floor. They have breakfast and chicken fried steak also on their diner menu.

We've been here at least once every time we visit the Paragon Casino. It's usually packed. The service is about average and the food isn't five star food, but as my husband says "it fills a hole." The burgers here though are much better than at Cafe Paragon by the Mari Theatre. I'm sure we will go again when we are at the casino and try something we haven't tried before.

    Biscuits and Gravy

If you visit the Paragon Casino on a Sunday or Monday, this is the only place open to eat. So slim pickings. I ate here for dinner and breakfast. For dinner, I tried the shrimp po boy. It was freshly made and the shrimp were freshly fried. Only problem as can be seenby the picture, they forgot the Cajun mayo on one side of the bread. But that us easily fixed. Fries were great but not pictured are the string onion rings which were amazing. For breakfast, again everything is fresh, but I would not recommend the gambler because the grits are something I really didn't care to try. The gravy had a good consistency and the biscuits were baked on the softer side, but again if you love sausage gravy, I would not recommend this.

I got the special of the day which was baked chicken with rice and gravy and two sides. They guy serving was super sweet to explain to me the ordering process and I had a great conversation with the woman in line before me who comes every week for the Wednesday special. For my sides, I chose the greens and mashed potatoes. Even though I got two starches, it was worth it because the mashed potatoes and gravy were worth having as a main dish! I loved the greens, too, especially since they had all the hot sauce and peppers and vinegar choices you could want. The chicken was fork tender and I left nothing on the plate. I love that they provide each guest a little wrapped package of cornbread and iced cake of the day, too. I will definitely be stopping at Pamela's any time I'm in town.

We both felt really heavy afterward, and my mom even felt sick after eating there. It was just basic diner food and a bit overpriced for something you can get almost anywhere else. However, the cake that comes with the cornbread was my favorite part. SERVICE: The service was fine. It had more of a cafeteria-style vibe, so there isn't much to say about it. AMBIANCE: The inside felt very run down. The bar wasn't even finished and didn't look like it was ever used. Overall, it had a very hole-in-the-wall feel.

This is my go-to spot in Alexandria…read more I am not baller enough to stay at the Hotel Bently but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Actually, that isn't true. I actually stayed at the OG Holiday Inn across the street from the Hotel Bently and found this bar by happenstance. So there I was, at the Holiday Inn for work and the bar was closed. Apparently, the bartender didn't show up for work and although the manager said I could tend the bar for the night, I was not about to start a new job. She recommended the Mirror Bar, located in the basement of the Hotel Bently. After assurances that I wouldn't be murdered walking the block to the bar, I set off. The Mirror Bar reminds me of a classy joint from a bygone era. Yes, there are mirrors. No, it is not some sort of weird place. I mention that because when I told people I went to the mirror bar they looked at me as if I was some sort of perv and I want to set the record straight. Back to the review. This is a nice bar with a nice selection of bourbon. Weeknights are pretty dead but don't let that stop you. In addition to bar seating, there are tables along the wall with comfortable chairs. Comfortable chairs in a dark classy bar? Yes, please. Prices are pretty standard for a hotel bar. Will I be back? of course. If you see me there, say hi and buy me a bourbon.

Five stars!!! The wings were sooo delicious! So perfect! And they have a 6 wings for $6 happy hour!…read moreI also tried the jalapeño waffles that went so perfectly with the wings!! The menu items sound good, and we're ... Just Okay. We tried the fried pork chop, Mac & cheese, greens, Philly sandwich and onion rings . The chop was frozen well and tasted okay, Mac was not bad, sweet potatoes were good (but the side order literally consisted of 8 small squares of potato), and the greens left a lot to be desired. Canned greens with a bit of seasoning added. As for the Philly, I'll quote my husband who said "It's okay but missing something... Meat!" lol Yes, it was heavy on bread, light on steak. The Servers/ Bartender were friendly, although if they tell you they are coming to you to take your order at a table, don't fall for it!! You will be sitting and waiting as people at the bar are taken care of. Do yourself a favor and go to the bar itself to order! The food took a really long time to come out. Like crazy long considering we were at the time the only people ordering food! It was 2 of us! One person working was busy putting up Halloween decorations, after taking drink orders, then fixing those drinks to go, which was after telling us she was coming to take our order. The best things were the onion rings, and sweet tea. Although the thin styrofoam cup containing the tea popped in my car cup holder and had to be cleaned up. It was all a crazy mess. I gave them 2 stars for the food items we did somewhat like. Also, no reviews had pictures of the outside, so I will add some.
