If you struggle with finding a swimsuit that fits you in a way that makes you comfortable in your skin, Nani Nalu is a great place to go. This is my second time getting a fitting. Stacy was my fitter and she did a wonderful job of picking out great suits that complemented my figure. It was amazing to see such a wide variety of suits and sizes in so may different patterns and colors. a they have suits you won't typically find elsewhere. Bikinis, tankinis, swim skirts, coverups, they have it all. If you schedule a fitting like I did, you get to try on as many suits as you need to find the perfect one....or two depending on your budget. They are not cheap but they are made of high wish fabrics that are cut and made to fit you, not a mannequins. I bought two suits this time and am really pleased with them. read more

We are frequent shoppers in this upscale retail and restaurant neighborhood and have to admit I wasn't aware of this great boutique before today but generally haven't sought such a specialized store. Now that I know I will only shop here for suits and beachwear! My husband found the shop and suggested we go in anticipation of an upcoming vacation. I am small to average body type and don't have suit issues per se but traditionally wear suits to the thread and don't spend much as we have a hot tub and cabin so have not previously been very careful in caring for them. I'm so thrilled with the outcome and the experience that I was excited to write this review! I love to support local business and Jennifer's shop has such a wide array of suits and beachwear I can't imagine someone not finding the suit of their dreams! This shop is the Kleinfelds of suits in terms of the experience. She staffs very heavily to help find suits to try based on your likes and body type. As large as the shop is, the dressing area is equally spacious and gives a tiki hut vibe. Once in the dressing area, there is a semi-private space not visible from the showroom floor which allows to try suits amongst friends and/or to get advice and feedback from the stylists. (Men are not allowed) The lightening is flattering and the sheer quantity of suits to choose from could be almost intimidating for some so the stylists query as to preferences and will continue to bring you options as long as you wish. We stopped in on a Friday evening and there were another pair of ladies shopping so we had all the attention you could want. I expect Saturday and Sundays are much busier so it might warrant an appointment during the week if you want to ensure a personalized experience. I literally loved every suit I tried (more than a dozen) and left with three bikinis, a romper, (and travel sized suit detergent) that I can't wait to wear on my upcoming trip! Prices are reasonable for the quality and experience- expect to spend $125+/suit and will vary depending on material and COO. I stopped in for an appointment per the recommendation from my mother. She said this is a great store to visit as a fuller-bodied individual and that they provide a little more personalized experience. It took a little while for my associate to understand my likes and dislikes but eventually, we got on the same page. What I liked: -The personalization: My appointment was for me and one person helping just me. -The privacy: Being back in the dressing room and not needing to go find different sizes or styles was great. -The music: Because shopping is always more fun with great music :) What I wish were different: - While I liked that I didn't have to go on the floor, I wished I could have taken a quiz or shown examples (photos) of what I already had for a swim suit and what I was looking for. I had optimistic expectations when booking a private fitting/ appointment. I have been considering visiting this store for over a year & have had several people personally recommend this store. I am a size 14 with a large bust and I was feeling confident & excited that there would be several good & flattering choices for me. The website shows great brands, a broad size range, and body positive philosophy. I shared my desire for a 'different swimsuit shopping experience' & my goal of comfort. But I did not have a fun or body positive experience. I was expecting at the very minimum I would be trying on pieces that fit me, even if it wasn't my style. I was the only customer in the fitting rooms. The girls who were my assistants were very nice but I noticed they brought me several swimsuits that were clearly not my size and made me feel very frustrated and disappointed. They also kept tightening my tops, to the point where I could not remove them myself, it was uncomfortable. I really wish they had just been honest about the sizing or situation instead of letting me attempt to try on swimsuits that I was led to believe were personally chosen for me. I did not feel listened to or prioritized as a customer. I did end up making a purchase, but I regret supporting the experience that I had. Unexpectedly feel-good experience. High quality swimsuits in every style for every body shape and size. This was my second great experience with Nani Nalu. I recently came into the store just to browse and get some ideas 3 hours before my appointment time, as I was pretty anxious about buying my first suit since I had a child last year. The associate who was working went ahead and pulled a bunch of swimsuits for me even though it was not my scheduled appointment time, and she was able to select a variety of suits that fit and flattered me. I was so happy with the selection that I had to "only" get two of the suits, when I had been nervous about being able to find even one that I felt comfortable in. I also had my straps shortened, and that was done in 4 days, in time for my trip the following weekend. Yes, the swimsuits are a bit more expensive, but they last a LONG time (I last purchased a suit here in the winter of 2013 which has held up very well). Highly recommended! read more

You know how excruciating swimsuit shopping is? You hate your body, can't find a style you like, the store doesn't have your size, etc. Magnify the awfulness by 1000 when you have big boobs. Every single thing you try on makes you look like one of those hussies from Bad Girls Club. It's like swimsuit manufacturers just can't spare that extra fabric when making their suits, they just can't do it! Enter Nani Nalu. They have swimsuit sizes that go up to a G Cup. You call, make an appt., give them your bra and pant sizes, hang up the phone, go to you appt. The store is adorable and chocked full of gorgeous dresses and cover ups. I was ushered back to the huge fitting rooms where a ton of suits had already been pulled for me. The owner and one other girl helped me and we ended up finding the perfect suit. Last summer I walked into Nali Nalu and had the best swimsuit shopping experience of my life. Walked out feeling confident. Went back today hoping to have the same experience. The sales girls were great, BUT...in the dressing room where you are to come out and show your friends and the staff there was a man sitting there. I kept saying (a few times) how uncomfortable that was and nothing was done about it. I found out that it was one of the staffs husband. He should have been removed. This is a very private, embarrassing event and men should not be allowed back ever!!!! Swim suit shopping for most of us is painful. This place has you covered. I made an appointment which I would recommend that so you get the full attention of your stylist. I was there for an hour and probably tried on 25 swimsuits until I found the right one. They already knew what to pull for me based on the online questionnaire that I had filled out. The stylist really paid attention to what was flattering on me and was thoughtful about her selection. I found 3 swimsuits that I normally wouldn't have picked for myself. Nani Nalu is almost like a swimsuit concierge service. My friend and I popped in (appointment-less) and just looked around a little since she was hoping to find a new suit. Everything was quite spendy, but they do have very cute things and designer swimwear from brands I actually had seen on ASOS before and really liked. The staff was very friendly and let us know how the shop works (you typically make an appointment and then they pull all kinds of stuff in your size) and how extensive their sizes run (down to the multiples As all the way up to the Gs). I can't think of any other brick-and-mortar store where you'd be able get that level of service and variety of sizes. read more

I bought a $200 swim suit & it didn't have padding. They promised me they could sew in padding. They sewed it in & it ripped out twice. They only have a 5 day return policy & they don't guarantee it. For $200 it should be guaranteed & if not they should at least take it back when it was their fault, they lied. They offered me 50% off, but when I went, there was already a 50% off sale so they gave me nothing for lying & scamming of out $200. The swim suit has no padding. Why the Hell would anyone want a swim suit with no padding? Now I'm stuck with a piece of junk. Also the only reason I picked that one is because they had no selection. They had none that cover your body well accept that one. This one was dark colors which is all they had. When I went back, all they had was dark colors. I expected a nice fitting swim suit in bright colors. I got a $200 piece of junk. The new one I got is dark purple. That was the best they had. For being a professional swim suit shop, they should have a reasonable selection & colors year round. read more

I have looked every where for the right swimsuit and I was ready to fork over some mula, too. I was saving and thought I'd splurge on myself since I haven't found a good suit in 3 years. I loved the shop. I loved how confident the women working there were. They didn't shove suits down my throat. They let me go through what they had pulled (I made an appointment, which I recommend doing) and that made it easy for me to try on lots of different things quickly. I hate shopping so fast is how I roll. Even though some of their suits are pricey I am very happy with what I bought and can't wait to feel comfortable at the beach this summer. Make an appointment to check out what they had available and was amazed that when we arrived the dressing rooms where filled with fabulous selections. I wanted to get a new swimsuit for my honeymoon and a friend had suggested we try out this place. I had made an appt so all my sizes and suits were waiting for me when I arrived. I tried on all the suits and had said several times that I wanted something bright, bold. The person I was working with didn't even bother to bring anything to me that was bright and bold. There was one suit that fit quite well, but I was less than impressed with the colors and patterns, however it seemed as if the sales person felt I should just settle on that one and didn't bring anything else to try on. when I told her that I didn't like it enough to buy it, she told me - "I had a hard body type to fit." considering on their website it says we shouldn't say negative things about our bodies ,etc . . I left feeling very crummy about myself! When I did ask if a suit that I had tried on earlier could be ordered she said yes and that I should pay for it that day, but it wouldn't be guaranteed that I could get it by my honeymoon. So I said I wouldn't pay for it unless I knew that I would get it on time. I was told a manager would call me that day after 1pm to let me know if I could get it. When I didn't receive a call I called the manager the next day and she said that she didn't get the correct instructions to call me. She said she couldn't tell me until Monday if I could get the suit or not and that she would personally call me on Monday, first thing to let me know. Here it is Tuesday and no call. Love this place! If you're looking for a swimsuit that you'll feel great about every time, look no further. Samantha spent almost three hours with me until I found the swimsuit I wanted. Shopping for a swimsuit can be a nightmarish experience but it felt so good to have someone cheering for me the whole way through and giving me lots of options based on what looked best/what I wanted. My suit was pricey, but totally worth it. I won't need another one for many years. Quality over quantity, amiright? Also, a decent selection of ethical swimwear, which was a high priority for me. I could not be happier with my time at Nani Nalu. I will be shopping for all of my swimsuits here from now on! As a real woman with a REAL body and a big bust, I've never really felt confidant in a swimsuit. I walked in without an appointment. Almost immediately someone was there helping me and pulling suits for me to try. The woman who helped me was cheerful and extremely patient as I tried on about ten different suits. And when I was trying to chose between two different ones, she offered good insight and I left the store completely happy with my purchase. Is it expensive? Yes. You'll probably pay around $90 for a bikini top and $40 for bottoms, but it is well worth it for the service and quality that you're getting. What a joke! Got a sitter and was planning all week to go on Sunday to find a suit for my upcoming vacation. Go into the shop and start shopping. Staff seemed flustered and shoppers seemed mad. With a handful of suits I picked I went to the dressing room was told they are "full" and can I come back in an hour!!!! What?!?!?!? If you are a shop that is by appointment only, then I suggest you let customers know you are by appointment only when they walk in the door. What a joke with customer service and overall management of the store. It's Sunday in Summer. Every store allows you to go in and shop if you want. If you want to be open in a busy location allow for people that want to shop and have fitting rooms. read more

I called, made my appointment and discussed my sizes with the gentlemen that answers the phone (uncomfortable) went to my appointment and felt like "Julia Roberts in Pretty Women" shunned, not taken seriously (I was not dressed to there liking apparently) after sitting for over an hour (while others where taken into dressing rooms etc. I sat patiently looking through their order books. Finally called for my appointment - over 1 hr past my set time and rushed through the process. I had to order the suit (cost me $150) for the service I did not receive and have not once wore the suit once it was delivered. Not my size at all. I do not recommend them unless perhaps you go into the store dressed in all very high end garments. Sad! I paid good money for crap! read more

MN is so lucky to have a store like this!!! I highly recommend everyone try it at least once! I will say make an appointment though. I stopped in and there was about an hour wait for a room. The manager was very sweet in suggesting things to do in walking distance. When a room opened up they called me (about 45 minutes later, it wasn't even a full hour). Then when I got back, the associate that fit me seemed to genuinely care how I look in the suit. She was honest with me telling me the good and the bad. She was really good at making me feel confident in what I purchased. I had to give her a hug when I left! It was like in a hour, she became family! I really enjoyed my experience. My wife ordered ordered a suit from them, and it took them two weeks to tell me that the suit she wanted was not available; by that time, they had already charged my credit card and took several weeks and several calls to reverse the charge. Best swimsuit shopping experience I have ever had! I went with my 17 year old daughter and we intended to buy a suit each. Instead we got 2 suits as they were just too good to pass up...and the fit was crazy good. Then we got skirts and I got 2 summer dresses which were a total blast on the boat. I get compliments each and every time wearing any of it. Yes they are expensive, but they last (use their special gentle soap) and keep the fit wear after wear. We are going back for sure! read more

My first experience at Nani Nalu about a year ago was great - they were able to work with my body type and my confidence increased over the course of my fitting. Today it seems like I was in the wrong store. I spent 80 minutes at the Edina store and during that time I cried and left feeling worse about my body then when I went in there. I am a 32A and have an average athletic build. I'm toned all over and feel generally pretty decent about my body except for the fact that there's really nothing on top. They were not able to fit me today and the two women who "helped" me made me feel "less than." If you are small-chested like me you're better off choosing your own suits. I know my body type better than they did and at least next time I go swimsuit shopping by myself I won't have two other people making me feel like the only person in the world with this body issue. they lie when they say they fit everyone from size A to G. They should be honest with their advertising at least and start with B, or at least train their staff better. read more

Don't waste your time or money. Von Maur carries the same suits and the sales people are by far more attentive and listen to your requests. The sales people here are sorely in need of customer service training. When living in Des Moines I used a Boutique for a custom suit fitting, and it was an exceptional experience. The sales person assigned to me was attentive, listened to what I wanted, asked the right questions, had my measurements, and only brought me suits that fit my prerequisites. The suits were unique which is what I fully expected when I went to this shop. Particularly because it's located in Edina. Not the case. Very disappointed and won't be returning. read more

I never thought I'd say this, but I went swim suit shopping and not only did I find two swim suits I love but I had fun! What a great concept. You tell them your weight, size and what you're generally looking for, and they pull a variety of suits that will work. Honestly, I could have bought at least four. My sales assistant was fantastic--so nice and helpful. I appreciated that she was honest with me about what looked good and what didn't. It wasn't a cheap event, but well worth it. The sales associate only approved of the expensive swimsuits and she told me that a certain size looked great on me and in reality she just said that because it was the only size they had available. First of all, I did find a great swimsuit and their product lines are unlike anywhere else. Unfortunately, I expected more from the customer service experience. I had made an appointment and completed the online information requested at least a day prior. When I arrived at my appointment, they weren't ready for me. When I finally got my room, several of the suits were tankini and I had said no tankinis on both the form and in person. They were so ridiculously busy that I waited 20 minutes for more suits after my initial set. There was a group of about 5 women who had the attention of the entire staff and received many sets of suits while i waited, looking out of my dressing room. At this price point and with this appointment system, everyone should receive the same exemplary service. read more
