My friends from the U.K. have mentioned Nando's numerous times to me during their visits and how it is a must try.
Well, the time finally arrived... I'm here and ready for some Nando's!! The restaurant is casual dining done right. You get seated, take note of your table number, get up to go order at the counter, give them your table number, pay, and the food will be brought to you. Condiments, utensils, and soft drinks are self-service, too.
As for the food... I had the crispy chicken thighs w/ peas & coleslaw and also a side of fries. The chicken was off the bone and cooked perfectly. Super flavorful, moist, crisp, and would've been just fine without the sauces. Oh, but the sauces!!! I had the lemon herb, garlic, and hot... all 3 gave each bite of chicken a different (delicious) flavor; the hot sauce does have a kick to it but it's not overpowering. The garlic mayo mixed with the garlic sauce is a fantastic dip for the fries!! You have to ask for the garlic mayo but all of their sauces are at the condiment station and you can grab as many bottles of the different kinds of sauces offered.
I really hope Nando's makes its way over to California. We really are lacking in the chicken chains. Besides El Pollo Loco, what do we have? Nando's would be HUGE out here!! read more
