So that alone would tell the food was great. It's spacious and clean. Ordered, avocado toast with eggs over medium, pancakes and a caramel latte. I've driven past Nana's plenty of times but wasn't sure what type of establishment it was and then one day I saw it on the clock app and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a restaurant with amazing looking food. Decided to stop by on Sunday for breakfast. The restaurant is bright and spacious with minimal decor. We were seated immediately and set up with waters. The staff is so friendly and helpful as we decided what to get. We started with coffee and tea. The tea cup is massive so be prepared to have a lot of it. The coffee cup is small but they do offer free refills, so that was cool. The menu has so many goodies to choose from so it took some time to decide but eventually we ordered the BLT and the potato tart. The BLT came on a 6"inch sour dough ciabatta type bread which was so fluffy. The sandwich has arugula, charred tomato, your style of egg and bacon..ooh and a avocado mayo on the side. I got my eggs soft scrambled and they didn't disappoint. By far one of the best, if not, the best BLT I've had. Every bite was so flavorful and the texture was perfect. Now, the potato tart... The Potato tart was delishh! I would go back just for it. I don't know what's all in it but its amazing... I can not wait to go back and try other stuff, like the Lemon ricotta pancakes. I've been coming to Nana's in Howard Beach for a while now, but I recently had the pleasure of bringing some out of town guests here and it confirmed just how much of a neighborhood gem it is. Introducing them to a spot that truly captures the creative spirit of Queens dining was the highlight of their visit. They couldn't stop talking about the food, especially the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. They were perfectly light and flavorful. I still get phone calls months later about them! The Velveteen sandwich is my personal favorite and my go to. When you are trying to show visitors the best of the area, Nana's delivers a guaranteed "wow" moment that elevates a simple brunch into a special memory. The restaurants ambiance is a huge draw. From the moment you step inside, the modern yet warm decor creates an incredibly inviting atmosphere. It strikes the perfect balance feeling classy enough for a celebration without being stuffy. I really enjoy the lighting and cozy seating. Nanas is an ideal place to have coffee and conversation. The quality of the coffee they offer is currently Stumptown and I like it a lot! This environment is elevated and in my personal opinion, a reliable choice. It is also a great place to catch up with local friends or even hosting an event. The staff is exceptional. Every employee I have encountered during my visit was friendly, attentive and welcoming. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and ensured that our out of town guests felt right at home answering questions about the unique pastries that they offer with enthusiasm. I have tried the mini scratch muffins and nangiets (the raspberry is my go to). As a New Yorker for many generations, I really appreciate this and having a place to come to. For me, it is quite the commute but I'm always grateful when I get there and know I'll be in good hands. I have a holiday brunch that I am catering and while I've never had an event here or ordered catering, it is something I am considering. I also have a loved one's Bachlorette party coming up and it's a stay vacation and thought this would be a great place to start before our spa day. Wanted to treat a special friend to brunch and found this sweet little location. Frequented the area but never noticed it- a shame. It was a rainy/ dreary Sunday and I was hoping for a quaint, cozy setting, with lots of warmth and nourishing food with great company. I couldn't decide between the signature egg sandwich and the signature pancakes, so I left it up to a coin flip. Fate led me to the pancakes. The stack includes three medium sized pancakes. The pancakes had a balanced consistency; slightly dense, slightly airy, soft and steamy. It's a crowd pleaser. Pancakes were topped with what I believe was house made whipped cream and a mint leaf. Whipped cream was on the richer side. The cakes were platted with blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. All the fruit was perfectly ripe giving it that chosen by Nana feel. They had an espresso machine and some brunch cocktails with Prosecco and vodka. There is a counter but no beer, wine, or bar. Would love to see some more drink options to get that boozy brunch fix. I want to give a 4th star but this was my first time and you know the saying, first impressions are everything. I've heard of this place but never had a chance to come by. Walking in the place, it's very modern, bright lighting, a beautiful piano in the corner. Seats and tables are nice but they should really clean the seats thoroughly because the creases are pretty deep and it ends up looking gross. I ordered the special crème brûlée French toast and my fiance ordered the Velveteen egg sandwich. She was under the impression the salad specified in the description would come on the side and not actually on the sandwich. Although it was delicious, she really would have preferred the salad on the side, like every other dish on the menu. My French toast was delicious and although I was expecting to get syrup with it, looked around and our waitress was too busy to come to us because she decided to clean 7 tables at once after having an altercation with a table that just left. After my first 2 bites I decided maybe I didn't need it exactly because the crème brûlée made the French toast a bit more moist as if there was syrup on it. Both toasts are the size of my palm. The raspberries in the description that were supposed to be included were just 2 tiny ones sitting next to a squirt of whipped cream, didn't taste homemade. Why describe in the menu if you don't even give any of it? Our drinks were pretty good but pricey for just champagne based. Overall the menu is pretty expensive but the food is pretty tasty. Portions could be better. The problem that changed my vibe was at the end when my fiancé tried to pay, 1 of our 2 waitresses shows her a laminated paper and says it should have been on our table before we ordered. It wasn't. The paper is titled "Eggstortion" and explains that because of the egg price increase, any dish that contains eggs will be charged $2.00 more. So because my French toast was made with eggs, I get charged as well. LMFAO I'm in the industry and I know it's hard but to penny pinch on how the dish is made is wild and so unnecessary. On top of that, when paying with a card, whether it's debit (which is considered cash, comes straight from the account) or credit, you will be charged according to the bank. There is no reason or explanation of the amount that you get charged when using a card which I've never heard of before. It's based on the machine they are using. Also doesn't say on the first check they hand you, she states "oh it's in the menu.... ". No it also wasn't in the menu. If you're going to have all these polices and charges throughout the establishment, you should be more clear, more transparent with your customers and enforcing it on every table. My fiancé enjoyed her meal, as did I but that was a big turnoff for me. I'll probably be back because she loved it so much. read more

My daughter and I came in here to eat but unfortunately didn't get a chance to. They haven't been open that long. We came on a Sunday. The place was pretty busy. The one thing I didn't like was the music was blasting loud. I mean we had to shout to talk to each other. When We came in we were going to eat at the counter, and as soon as we got to the counter, the waitress said, do you have a reservation? I said no do I need a reservation to eat at the counter? and she said well come to the front so, we walk to the front of the counter where I guess you go up to pay your check and there was another girl there I don't know if she was a waitress or the cashier but She didn't look happy and had a bad attitude. She told us to wait a minute and then we stood there for five minutes and she never came back to seat us. she actually was wiping the counter down, but didn't say it'll be ready in a minute or let me set the table or you need a reservation to sit at the counter or eat in the restaurant she just ignored us and didn't anything so we walked out. I'm in this industry and I guess I've become sensitive to employees that don't make you feel welcome and don't think twice at being rude. The food looked delicious . Maybe I'll try again sometime . They get two stars for the ambience, and for the presentation of the food that I saw on other peoples tables . Let me just say most disappointing lunch ever. Restaurant is very quiet. I had the lean and mean. There's nothing mean about this sandwich other than it's sad as hell. The meat is lean for sure but it's got no sauce and it was sooo dry? The mustard sauce on the side was recommended and let me just say it made the sandwich even more gross and just nasty as hell. I had the Nana's Classic Brunch Burger, crème brûlée French toast for the table, while my gf had the Have it Your Way. The Brunch Burger was great, perfectly cooked egg with a heirloom tomato, and this great avocado mousse. Everything on the burger complemented each other. The girlfriend got a chicken sandwich had a hearty slice of fried chicken on it and some good fixings.
