Buffet food is very tasty with a good spice level and a variety of flavours. I also found it quite rich, lots of extra cream on top, no way I could eat $20 of food at dinner. If you come for lunch, be prepared for an afternoon food coma. Buffet and menu selection is OK only, but the quality makes up for this. They change some dishes daily, like the daal, and serve goat once per month. The lamb rogan josh was absolutely delicious, best dish in the buffet IMO. I wish there was more salad/veg available, and I miss pickled onions! Dessert is gulab jamun, cake squares, small dishes of rice or mango pudding. Breads are included in the buffet price (you can ask for roti if you're not a naan fan), and so is chai, which I thought was a nice touch. Plus the chai comes with sugar on the side instead of premixed, bonus. Other drinks are inexpensive, like $5 everything, and there's a big beer fridge with lots of selection. Server/owner "Luke", who is super-friendly and loves to chat, notes the lunch buffet is milder and sweeter than the dinner, so if you want more authentic flavour, come for supper or order off the menu. He and his brothers own 3 indian restaurants in Edmonton, and have had the downtown location for about 2 years. The restaurant is spotless, modern-looking and quite classy for the area, with ample parking out front and back. There's also a small private room available for functions, meetings, et cetera, great for the downtown/Royal Alexandra crowd. my daughter and I visited this restaurant today, received excellent customer service. The young server was polite, helped us to choose the items on their menu. Their menu has vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes, the place is very clean and service is excellent. Parking is easy, I highly recommend this to restaurant to people who enjoy East Indian cuisine. We were pleasantly surprised. We arrived to a near empty restaurant (not always a good sign) but were immediately greeted by a friendly server. We chose a seat by the window and then headed to the buffet. In a word: delicious! We love a hotter curry and we were not disappointed. So good. We tried a little of everything, and liked all the offerings. We even liked the hot honey balls (not sure what they are called, but they are a little like wet donuts doused in honey. Yum!) Fair pricing for such a lavish buffet. Free parking and handicapped access in the rear. Be careful on the front street; saw several ticketed vehicles. An organization I am with held a major event here recently. Not only was the buffet wonderful, but the service was excellent and the restaurant had no problem accommodating a large group. They were able to fulfil requests for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, and the buffet items were fresh and had just the right amount of spice. I personally loved the Tandoori Chicken and Palak Paneer. The prices are also reasonable, the place is large and clean, and it's one of the best options for East Indian food in north Edmonton. read more

This is really not a fair review because I really dislike buffets..even if they are East Indian (which is my favourite kind of buffet). I would star it 3.5 on a buffet rating but I feel like I need to go in to the restaurant and order off the menu to give a fair review. We were in there for Chinatown Dining week...so it was a steal of deal $15.00 for a dinner buffet. You really can't beat that price. Clean inside but lacking the fun atmosphere I am used to in Indian buffets (silks that are draped over things, interesting music etc). However, it was clean. Since it was basically serve yourself, I don't have much to say about the service except for the manager on hand seemed super friendly and kept asking me how I liked the food. And, as usual, buffets are hit and miss. What I loved about this buffet was the goat curry, the bean salad, and the paneer and the rice pudding. The butter chicken was too tomato based and lacked the level of flavour I would expect, the appetizers (pakora and a spinach disk like thing) lacked flavour and were cold. If I had a Groupon to try things on the menu that are made at the time, I would give this another go. Otherwise I would skip this. Honestly the food was average. The place is still pretty new and it was pretty slow when I got there around 6pm. A birthday party was going on and I was asked if it's okay for me to sit in the back secluded area. I said okay sure no problem as I was there to just eat and go by myself. The naan was fresh but the food at the buffet didn't seem fresh, butter chicken ok (sauce was good, chicken kinda firm), tandoori chicken was bland and a little dry. The watermelon was gross and mushy, should have been removed. Lamb curry was surprisingly good though. I did try other dishes that were alright as well. I didn't enjoy it enough for me to tell my friends about it. Would I try this place again? Yes. Maybe I just didn't go at the right time even though food should always be fresh and good the entire time they're open. I will give it a second chance in the future. read more

Indian food was something I had been wanting to try for some time now. So I hopped onto Skip the Dishes again and searched for the top rated restaurants. Namaste India was one of the first ones that popped up in my search. One thing I look for is delivery time, large menu to choose from and free delivery over $20 orders. Being new to Indian food, I wasn't sure what to try that wasn't overly spicy. I ordered the Vegetable pakora, butter chicken samosa, garlic naan and the vegetable samosa. The garlic naan was my absolute favorite and I am now hooked. It was super moist and and tasty. My taste buds were pleasantly surprised. The samosa was spicier than I was hoping for but again flavouable and well prepared. The vegetable pakora was delicious. I would definitely order from Namaste again. The only thing is - I wish more restaurants would add pictures on Skip the Dishes. I didn't realize all the dishes were covered in batter so it was quite filling. But definitely tasty. read more

The chicken was good in the butter chicken but the sauce was nothing special. The samosa waaaay too spicy. I love spicy food but dayuum almost inedible and more fried not as soft. Both dishes didn't have the spice level of authentic Indian food that we were craving, and the Garlic Naan tasted under-seasoned. Kind of disappointed being that it was the highest-rated Indian restaurant north of the river. I just found this to be the blandest Indian food I've ever eaten. Most of the food ordered went uneaten which is never the case in my house. Can't say enough good things about this establishment. Due to a mistake entirely of my own fault, I neglected to order rice with my butter chicken (I didn't see that it had to be ordered separately). I believe it was the owner (or one of his very nice employees) who drove to my condo to drop off a separate order of rice at no extra charge. I can't believe it - amazingly good service. Not only is it absolutely delicious but I honestly think it is better than our favorite restaurant in BC! The owner is friendly and I love that he remembers us every time we order from them. Oh Wow, I arrived in Edmonton later than planned and missed dinner plans so I decided to order a few cherries via Skip the Dishes. The reviews I read were good but I have been caught before. I ordered a Butter Chicken, Chana Masala and Lamb Vindaloo. This meal was first class, delicious flavor, generous servings, meats were tender. Awesome place and a hidden gem centrally located in Chinatown. Family friendly, lots of seating for dine-in, free parking in the back and buffet ready for 5pm, including endless Naan. My "go to" for Indian. Everyone needs to have a decent Indian Curry Shop in their hood, this is mine. It's weird how I can crave a food I didn't really grow up with. But there you have it. The food is genuine and fresh, the quality is outstanding. It doesn't take growing up with something to differentiate quality and Namaste has it in hand. Dishes are rich and spicy when they are supposed to be. There is enough variety for everyone, so explore. I've eaten in and had take out numerous times, never been disappointed. Service was very friendly, better that some other Indian places I've been to. Been wanting to try it out for a while and finally found myself outside their door at 4:30pm with time to kill, so I went in. They were just setting up the dinner buffet so had to wait a few minutes while Taking got the serving spoons out. Meanwhile I studied the menu, which is quite replete with all the required Indian dishes and then some! Alook was around to answer questions and Raj was busy setting up, while I grilled them on where they're from, etc. My dinner was superb, and the Dal Makhani took me back to the Dhabas that I often frequented along the highways of the Northern plains of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab! Please support these guys, they deserve to be successful. The best thing is that now I don't have to go all the way to 34th avenue to pretend I'm back in India again! read more

Went to the location off of 101 st on 107 ave for lunch with a friend the week before Christmas 2017, lots of parking and FREE Buffet food is what we were looking for and was glad to find this place! I'm not an expert on Indian food buffet, but this place was spectacular very delicious with great service, and they give a 15% discount for dining in at the restaurant. I especially enjoyed the lamb curry and the butter chicken. The lamb was nice and spicy, with a great lamb flavour and very tender. During our meal they brought out fresh garlic buttered naan bread, then later brought out a dish of basa fish. The restaurant is large with nice decor and a very welcoming feeling. I would definitely come back again in the near future(watch out for the little cheesecake desserts, they are amazing). I didn't have a beer, but they have a cooler full of interesting imports.
