I very rarely do a review. But I gave this place a chance. I had my nails done thursday for a saturday party. Come friday the nails are already chipping. I came back sunday to gave them a 2nd chance. Sunny was doing my nails but as soon as 2 customers come in she hurriedly tried to do mine and started on the other lady without properly finishing my nails. Long story short, I came out with a shitty unfinished, uneven, rough nails. And 2 days later it is ofcourse chipping again. Wasted $70 on this. There are plenty good nail salons but I don't recommend this one. Not very clean either. Owner needed to fix 2 nail patches that were put on less than 24 hours earlier. She filed her own nails while waiting for mine to dry. Yuck Also charged for the new patches that she could have easily let go as I have been a very loyal customer for the past year. When I tipped her she humiliated me in front of others because she didn't think it was enough. Find another place that is clean and respects and appreciates their clients. Nails Talk is located next to Starbucks and few other businesses on Deerfield Road. They are set a bit back from the road so with the construction that has been going on, you cannot easily spot them as you are driving by. I hope this will not affect their foot traffic much (no pun intended:). As I walked in I was immediately greeted by a very nice young man. He offered a heated neck pillow which I happily accepted. It had a very good relaxing scent about it. Large TV above his head was set on news station and I am sure that he would change it if I asked. He asked several questions about my nails and then got to work. He had an efficient and gentle approach. The hand and forearm massage was firm and long enough. Wiped my hands with heated towel and suggested that I pay prior to nail polish application. As I sat down to drying station, he removed the heated neck pillow. It was not as warm at this point so I really welcomed when he applied a new heated towel on my neck and gave me a neck and shoulder massage. This was my first visit and I it will not be my last. An additional incentive is their punch card - you get your 11th manicure and 11th pedicure free. read more

I've been to Nails Talk many times. They do a good job with the mani and pedi, but what I don't like is that they play favorites. They give their favorite customers (I'm assuming the ones who pay the most tip or look like they have money) a plastic box with their own nail filer, nail clipper, etc. When I asked the woman next to me when she received it, she said after her first visit. When I asked one of the owners if I could receive one, she said 'probably next time', but I have yet to receive one. I pay a decent tip, but I'm assuming you have to fit a certain profile to receive the box. read more

I used to go to this place all the time and they would provide really good customer service and services. However, over the last couple years and most recently, I find the services to be rushed and done without much detail. For example, I went with my mom to get a pedicure, mine started after hers by about 5 minutes, the woman doing my nails was also doing someone else's and I was finished 3 minutes before my mom. They did not cut or shape my toes either. This is now the second time when they have rushed me and not spent the appropriate amount of time on me. I'm not sure if it's because I'm in my 30s or what, but regardless, I'm a paying customer and there is no customer service here. read more

I came to Nails Talk for the first time last Tuesday for a no-chip manicure (Shellac), and left sorely disappointed. From beginning to end, the experience was sub-par, but the worst part is that I walked away with a terrible manicure that I am now stuck with for two weeks. A friend and I made appointments for no-chip manicures at 5pm. We walked in promptly at 5pm and there was only one nail technician ready. She began my manicure while my friend waited 15 minutes. On a regular manicure, this may not be an issue. But for a no-chip, which easily take 1 hour to complete, an extra 15 minutes waiting is unacceptable, especially with appointments and in a nearly-empty salon. My nail tech was extremely sloppy with the polish. She did a fine job on the shaping and cuticles, but rushed throughout. Once she finished, I looked at my nails and thought, "I do a better job painting my own nails at home!!!" The polish was entirely uneven; it was clear where one coat started and one ended. The edges of my nails were not painted and the polish by the cuticles was uneven. An entire corner of my thumbnail was missing polish. Most importantly, however, was that my nail tech completely neglected to paint the edges of my nails at the front. On a no-chip manicure, this is absolutely vital for it to actually not chip. Two days after I got my no-chip, the front edges of my nails were all missing polish. 6 days later, and I have two huge chips on my thumb nails. I have gotten no-chip manicures for awhile now, and NEVER has one chipped prior to 12 days in. At the end, the nail tech very quickly and sloppily rushed to take off the sticky residue that's left over at the end. In her rush to move onto her next client, she left a very sticky coat of the shellac that took me multiple scrubbings at home to remove. I've gotten many no-chip manicures, and NEVER have I left a salon with any sticky residue leftover. I love my no-chip manicures and typically see it as $30-40 well spent; however, my manicure at Nails Talk was far below the standard. Having it chip two days later, the coating uneven and not fully down to the cuticles, was extremely disappointing and felt like a total waste of my money. To add insult to injury, Nails Talk charged me $40 for my no-chip manicure (which was terrible!) and they advertise that their no-chips are only $35. I felt robbed blind by this place. It is clear that this place is more interested in rushing clients in and out and making a profit than they are in customer satisfaction and retention. I wanted to love this place and make it my regular spot as it is on the way home from work, but I will not be back and I cannot recommend this place to anyone for a no-chip manicure. read more

I've been coming here for a few months, but I'm done after today. I've never loved it here but it's convenient and good enough. Rushed pedicure, fine. Looks mediocre and wasn't relaxing or enjoyable but it was fine. Manicure- removing my no chip the gentleman was ripping off parts of my actual nail. I mentioned it hurt and he was peeling my nail and he said its fine, and buffed it down. My new manicure looks terrible. When I mentioned it looked bumpy he didn't even reply or look up. Annoying but I probably would have still kept coming back. My eyebrow wax is what put me over the edge. I told the woman to please just take off where it was growing in and I showed her. I said "I want to keep them as thick as possible". She way over waxed and left me two very thin lines. Thinner than I've ever had- even in the 90's! It looks terrible and it wasn't what I asked for. It's obvious she didn't know what she was doing and didn't really care as long as they got me in and out. Bad nails I can deal with- even though a few are pretty sore- but my eyebrows will take months to grow back in. I'm not a very picky person but I look ridiculous! read more

This nail salon is outstanding. Tammy, the co owner welcomed me at the door and checked my temperature and offered me hand sanitizer. Masks are worn by everyone. The place is spotless with shields separating stations and manicurists from clients. I have been going here for years, and I have never been disappointed. I would definitely go back - it was easy to get an appointment and I walked in right at my time and was even greeted by my first name. The technician was very nice and salon was quiet as I do not think many people have discovered them yet. I usually drive to Riverwoods for a mani/pedi and sometimes have to wait. I really have no complaints about this salon. Yes the manicure chipped after 2 days but they all do - it's hard when you have dishes and laundry to do! I've had the manicure 3 days now and it has held up well. (just small chips). I used a coupon and they didn't seem to mind - they were happy for the business. RUDE staff! I was asked if I wanted to put tip on the credit card I said no. I was planning to leave cash, but the woman did not realize that. She called me cheap, and when giving me a massage got my hair snagged in her watch and painfully ripped my hair out of her watch. I will never go back there or recommend to anyone. I had to get my nails done for an event I was going to attend last minute. My coworker recommended this place so I decided to come here on my way back home from work. My manis usually chip after a couple of days so I decided to get nochip mani for the first time, and I love it! It was totally worth it. I usually like to talk to my nail technician, but my lady seemed so focus on doing my nails we just had a small conversation. It didn't matter because my nails came out great! I got a lot of compliments. And I have also been looking for a specific color for a long time, and when I walked into the doors there was a huge collection of nail polish on their wall. Nails Talk sets the standard for mani/pedi spots in the area! I used to live in Lake Forest and would go to Tammy and Sunny every time I needed my nails done at the salon they used to work for. Now, they have opened their new salon (Nails Talk) and I could not be more excited for them! The place is gorgeous, clean, and welcoming. Returning customers have their own clippers, files, etc dedicated to them, so you can feel comfortable in knowing that the tools aren't being used on anyone else. The pedicure chairs are wonderful and they have every color you could imagine. Now that I've moved to the city, I still travel back to the new salon in Highland Park. Tammy's manicure and pedicures blow away all of the places I've gone to in the city. She's great to talk with and consistently does a great job (and I have very short nails - tough to work with!). I know I am only one opinion, but I love this place and find it hard to believe others have had bad experiences! read more
