I was looking for a place that wasn't your run-of-the-mill nail salon where they shuttle people in and shuttle people out and have appointments and walkins as well. I found Kathleen online on Yelp actually, scheduled an appointment and showed up prepared to be pampered. Kathleen's private suite at Phenix Salon Suites was very clean and organized. She pays great attention to detail and has new and/or freshly sterilized (autoclave on site)instruments for each customer. My manicure and pedicure were top notch and very relaxing. It was nice being in a private suite without other manicurists and customers coming and going. I've had gels done beautifully by Kathleen and just a buffed finish, also lovely, nice and shiny. I wrote a review for Nails by Kathleen M in December, 2015, not thinking that Kathleen's shop could get any better. I am back for this season and find that Kathleen have been very busy taking classes and earning new certifications in working with chronically ill clients. She has also installed an Auotclave for sterilizing her tools. The Autoclave is a very impressive piece of equipment that assures the highest quality of sterilization. Kathleen has also added the use of hot stones during her pedicures that gives the perfect final touch to a great pedicure. As I mentioned in my first review, it is very important to me to have a private setting. I alway look forward for my appointment with Kathleen, knowing I will come out feeling fresh and relaxed. Kathleen has been giving me manicures and pedicures for over 20 years. She is truly the best! She is concerned about nail health and hygiene which I truly appreciate. She is charming to talk to and the time flies during our appointments. She stays abreast of new technologies and products. She is continually educating herself. I have had her give me natural manicures in addition to gels currently. She handles all technologies well in spite of my "problem" nails. She is very good, so it is no surprise that it is best to book an appointment to avoid a walk-in disappointment. She is good about scheduling and really tries to accommodate me as best she can. I was visiting the Coachella Valley and needed a pedicure. I was looking for a quiet salon that was clean and sanitary. Nails by Kathleen fit the bill. She sterilizes her implements in an autoclave and uses tub liners. She also does a great pedicure and hot stone massage on your feet and legs (so relaxing). Two thumbs up. Update: Fast forward a year. We came back to the valley in 2018 and I made another appointment with Kathleen. Her pedicures are gentle yet thorough. Kathleen's salon is very clean and she is such a nice person. She books up fast during the winter months so I have already made appointments in advance when I return in 2019. read more

I was referred to Kathleen by a friend. I've had pedicures for years (in Seattle). Without a doubt, Kathleen is the very best! Not only is she very thorough (for example, she inspects your feet before beginning), very hygienic (for example, she uses a disposable liner in the foot bath & pre-wrapped, disposable instruments), very professional (the pedicure is absolutely beautiful!) , but also very relaxing (for example, she used a hot stone on my legs & feet). Kathleen is the best, most professional manicurist/nail technician you could find. She has a wonderful personality, a great sense of humor, and is very kind and gentle. Kathleen is super knowledgeable, continually educating herself about all things related to hands and feet, and has several certificates. Kathleen is outstanding. I have never had nice natural nails, acrylics and gels would not stay on. Kathleen thought she had figured out why and discussed a product for me to use once daily on my nails. I have been using the product daily for two months now, and am so excited to say for the first time in my life I have healthy, strong looking natural nails. I'm so glad I read these reviews and went to Kathleen. We come here every year from Chicago for a few weeks, and I had not found a good manicurist. Now I have!! My nails were in bad shape when I wen to her the first time, and now, after 3 visits, they look great. She repaired two nails that had broken about half-way down, and then used OPI Gel Break (a product that kind of mimics gel without the damage). I also had a pedicure which was wonderful. In addition, I have enjoyed our conversations. She is busy, so making appointments in advance is necessary. She is worth it!! read more

I found her studio online in a panic, with a deadline looming, she was almost closed for the day, did not know me at all....and invited me in to do a "clean up mani and pedicure", her final appointment for the day only minutes away. AND she was leaving for a vacation afterwards! Customer service like this is extraordinary, and it's so nice to know genuine help for another is still important to business owners. Kathleen has been doing my nails for over 25 years. I am so happy that she now has a studio here in the desert as well as her practice at the coast in Palos Verdes Estates. She is not only an upbeat lovely person to be around but extremely professional. She runs her business on time and is very conscious about being sterile. After nearly 10 years of just buffing my nails I am now doing hard gel for my nails:). The product that Kathleen uses is amazing and lasts so long it is unreal. My nails look like they were just done even three weeks later. I cannot recommend Kathleen and her products enough. She is clean, patient, has fabulous colors, and it is easy to take off. I finally made a total transition to hard gels, thanks to Kathleen's ability to make it easy. I never had to go through the pain and damage of having my acrylic nails removed. She was able to give me beautiful hard gels while the acrylics grew out. I love the long lasting beautiful shine, and how sturdy they are. What I DON'T miss is the, less than personal treatment, the chemical smell, and breathing in ground acrylic that is so prevalent in the "quick" nail shops (Hmmmm, that can't be good). Kathleen is a Fabulous lady! I called her today in a pinch as my gel nail polish had chipped after a few days (done at Another salon) and I told I didn't want to go back there! She made time in between clients to see me and matched my polish as best as she could since they were different products. I have been going to Kathleen for years. Besides the quality of her work and the products she uses, what is most important to me is sanitation and cleanliness. Before finding her, I went to a salon where I got a fungal infection on my toenail and it took months to clear up! Kathleen even goes the extra mile and places tub liners in her pedicure spa. I booked my mom an appointment for Mother's Day and she was thrilled. Kathleen is one of the nicest people ever! The private room was amazing, clean, and didn't have a nail salon smell. Fantastic pedicure and nail experience. As a diabetic I am extremely cautious about where I have my pedicures. NO WORRIES with Kathleen...everything is immaculate. She uses individual tub liners, and fully sanitizes all her equipment. Here you get the full spa pedicure without the exposure to infection common in the "factory" style nail shops.
