Unfortunately, the experience from the manicure and customer service was so bad that it overshadows the pedicure. Customer Service: Not great at all. In particular the older Asian woman who gave my friend a pedicure. This woman not only gave my friend an AWFUL pedicure but would not stop making rude and inappropriate comments about my feet. I get it, they're not great it's why I'm here. I can only imagine the other comments that were made. 1 star. Pedicure: I wish I got the name of the girl who did my pedicure as she did an amazing job. She took her time to make sure everything was smoothed out and taken care of. She didn't feed into the comments being made and in fact looked disgusted that the other woman was making them. I appreciate the time and effort she put in to making my pedicure experience a good one. 4 stars. Gel manicure: Started peeling and chipping within a few days. Unreal. Completely peeled off by day 8. Same for my friend. However, they did fix hers for free. Unfortunately I live far and cannot make the trip that easily. Completely unacceptable and honestly one of the most disrespectful experiences at any business. The male owner loudly berated my girlfriend in front of the entire store for "not tipping," while she was literally in the process of paying and about to leave one. Instead of acting professionally, he chose to embarrass her publicly over something he didn't even bother to confirm. Mind you, he was not even the tech or the one cashing the money. It was aggressive, humiliating, and completely out of line. No customer should ever be put on the spot like that, especially over a voluntary tip. This wasn't a misunderstanding, it was a deliberate decision to shame a customer in front of others. If this is how the owner treats people, it says everything you need to know about this place. I would strongly caution anyone thinking about coming here, there are plenty of businesses that actually respect their customers. They will probably claim this never happened, per usual. I took a shot with X O Nails when we moved nearby a year ago - and it's become my go-to place ever…read moresince! The owner, Sophie, is super nice, as is Maria, the other woman who does nails here. Both women have done my nails in the past and they always come out great. I get a regular mani/pedi and it's less than $30 (without tip). You can't beat that! I like that the salon is cozy and low-key; there's only usually Sophie, Maria, and two clients inside at a time, so with COVID, I feel a lot safer. Also, Sophie is really meticulous about sanitization and cleanliness: she makes everyone wash their hands right when they walk in the door, and wipes down every surface after a client is finished. Both of them wear masks and have plastic shields at the nail stations so there's a barrier between the two of you. They also do waxing here, but I haven't tried it since I do my own waxing at home. But it seems like there's a good number of people who come in for waxing services. Logistics: Appointments are needed, so make sure to call ahead before dropping in. Street parking is available, but during peak business hours you may need to park down the block a bit (I've always found a spot). You won't regret coming here and supporting this small business!
