I scheduled an appointment for a shellac manicure and pedicure-- totaling about $75 in price. I wouldn't mind paying this price, if they actually took their time and did the work that was supposed to be included in the services. There is a huge difference between paying for a $35 rushed mani/pedi and a $75 service that should be longer. You get what you pay for usually, but definitely not in this case!
I started out by choosing my shellac polish from a wall where the bottles were displayed (not on actual nails). If you know anything about shellac/gel manicures.... the polish color is very deceiving by just looking at the bottle and not the actual color on a nail sample. This was a frustrating process, but I pushed through it and was looking forward to an hour of relaxation.
When I sat down for my pedicure.....the water was cold, so I asked her if she could add a little warm water. The woman added scolding hot water and I immediately removed my feet. Needless to say-- she made me feel like Goldilocks when all I really wanted was warm/hot water that did not burn my skin. After finally adding more cold water I submerged my feet back into the water and proceeded with my pedicure. She rushed through the entire process, barely removing my old polish, not cleaning my cuticles or scrubbing the bottom of my feet more than 30 seconds and polished so quickly that she missed a large portion of the side of my toe nails on most toes. Keep in mind that I was the only customer in the salon at the time and there were six other manicurists waiting for clients. Also, they have a menu of pricing upgrades that they present to you while you're trying to enjoy your relaxation and not before your service. This menu consists of upgrades that should be included in a standard pedicure!
Just as I thought it could not get any worse......I started my shellac manicure. This service typically takes anywhere from 50 mins - 1 Hour and 15 mins. It took 25 minutes at most! The manicurist who was doing my nails started out by leaving residue of black and sparkles from my previous shellac manicure, even after asking her multiple times to remove it. She took 6-8 minutes to complete my entire manicure process, not including the shellac. She did not clean up my cuticles, did not remove polish correctly or even clean underneath my nails. She started the shellac painting and used such a small amount of polish that it was still translucent and I begged her for a third coat, so that I could actually see the color of the polish. She painted with a third coat and in between this all I put my nails under the UV lamp for about maybe 30 seconds each hand. This process normally takes 3-5 minutes in between rotations (NOT 30 SECONDS).
Needless to say....what a waste of time and money! read more
