I feel very lucky to have such a competent and pleasant manicurist as Thu in the neighborhood - the proprietor of this small salon in the Del Mar village. She only has one additional manicurist working 3-4 days a week so I don't think I would try a walk-in. But if you call she is very sweet about trying to get you in the same day. Closed on Sundays. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!! As someone religious and picky about my nails, Thu exceeded my expectations. I have gone to the same nail tech for years and was on a long work trip in desperate need of a fill on my natural nails. I stopped in and despite Thu's busy schedule, she got me in. Prices are extremely reasonable and the area is next to the beach and plenty of food, bars, etc. Thu's attention to detail and quality of work is amazing!!! The products and hand massage 10/10. I even came back for a minor chip, that was completely my fault, and she happily touched up every nail. She is an absolute gem and I would go back to her in a heartbeat! read more

Reasonable prices. I had a spa pedicure, the attention to detail was very good. Great massage.

I was trying to find a place to shape my nails and get a polish change and they were able to accommodate me last minute. They have a color similar to mademoiselle but it's by creative play. $10 for a solid polish redo. read more

Pumpkin Queen is continuing past the year of pun like images on my toes! Thu has done an awesome job of creating the designs from photos I look up online! It all started with putting an apple on one side and I thought it would be fun to put the PI symbol on the other. People love it and I even have them ready to guess the next ones. What images would you want on your toes? read more

I just moved down to Del Mar and was looking for a new place to get my nails done. First of all , the prices are amazing! 45 dollars for gel nails with a gel polish on top! Also, Thu is amazing! Her attention to detail is impeccable and she is so sweet! I called in day of and got a 6PM appointment (they close at 7). She never rushed me or anything and ended up staying a whole hour late to finish my nails. I can't recommend enough! read more

I have lived in San Diego for over 20 years & I have tried so many different nail places & I think Cali Nails is the best!! Tu is the owner & is such a sweet, caring person. She really takes her time to give you the best pedi/mani ever. The place is always very clean & the spa chairs are really comfortable!! read more

Thu is the most lovely person you will find. She does an amazing job. And the price is insanely low so please tip her big!

I would not recommend this place if you wish to get your mani pedi in a timely manner. I have made appointments and EVERY time they have been at least 20 minutes late. They do a nice job on my mani pedi and the price is good but I can't stand having "walkins" take my appointment. I will not go back. read more

Best experience I've ever had getting my nails done, ever! Thu is wonderful, meticulous, kind, clean, and caring. She took her time and I could tell she truly values her work. After years of always feeling rushed and disappointed at other salons, this felt like I had found what I had always hoped for. Thu has a regular customer with me that's for sure. Thank you so much for being wonderful! I love my nails, the dip looks natural and beautiful. Truly amazing work. read more

Horrible job on my nails. After 24 hours they started lifting and they will not last the two weeks. All the edges are rough and she didn't either use enough gel for my expensive $40.00 fill or put gel around the edges. For Del Mar the shop is old, out dated and dirty. Her light over her station turns on and off constantly which is annoying. Don't waste your money on this over priced shop which does a horrible job. She probably asked these other people to write a good review on her. I noticed her appointment book was pretty blank too as she works on you and answers the phone. read more

Thu's shop is a little haven in the center of Del Mar. Despite the hustle bustle and noise of construction on Del Mar's main drag, the shop is a respite from the business and chaos outside. Thu, and her helper, welcome clients into a calm, pristine atmosphere where we're treated to manicures, pedicures, back spas, facials and massage with lots of personal attention and TLC. Thu's prices are quite reasonable, and she is extremely accommodating with scheduling appointments to meet client needs. Highly recommend! read more

After looking and trying multiple shops, this is the one!! Great pedicures, I love the flowers!!!!!

Stopped in randomly after a long road trip and had one of the best mani/pedis I've had in a long time! Quality over quantity for sure- my foot massage was 15+ mins and they made sure the polish was perfect before they let me leave. Even stayed open late to accommodate me. So happy, love these girls! read more

Such a great experience! They were so thorough, very nice, and the environment was extremely calming. I highly recommend!

Best mani/pedis I've ever had. The owner has such an attention to detail and is a perfectionist. She is extraordinary with shellac as well. Always book ahead because she runs a tight schedule- So many regulars from over the years. I adore Thu and highly recommend her salon. read more

The best place around. Worth the wait. We don't go any place else now. Others just don't compare.

Best pedicure I've had. They took their time and were very meticulous with their work. Felt very relaxed!

Small place, classic stereo type of a nail salon. But amazing pedicures and I was surprised by exceptional job they did with eye brow waxing. Probably one of the best brow waxes I've ever gotten. read more

Thu is an absolute perfectionist down to the shape of the nails, cleaning up the cuticles and the application of the polish! So happy with her work and her salon is so quaint. She is very calming and sweet. You won't find a better quality manicure. Highly recommended! Location and parking are super easy to get to as well! read more

Tu, the owner of Cali Nails has been doing my fingernails for the past eight years! She has helped me try and beat the nail biting habit. Her patience is wonderful and she never makes me feel uncomfortable if I slip back to my old ways. I have my eyebrows done periodically and very happy with the result. I treat myself to the great spa pedicures during the summer months. Sometimes I even go for a flower design!! So pretty! I am confident that Tu will treat you well and you will leave smiling! read more

The owner is seriously the best. She is a perfectionist so make sure you're not in a rush. She does a custom gel color for me which is lovely. It is a blend of sheer pink and sheer white gel. read more

I have been an area resident for over ten years and have tried numerous nail shops from Rancho Santa Fe to Carmel Valley to Del Mar. Cali Nails is at the top of my list. The place is spotless, the owner is delightful, the work is always spot on and the atmosphere is very relaxing. And, despite being two blocks from the ocean it is priced competitively with other nail shops. read more

Horrible place, would not recommend anyone!I called nail place I got appointment for 2 people.I asked lady how long it will take, she told me one hour for me and my friend.I requested do same time, she told me no problem, she has 4 people do pedi/mani same time( it is call lie person) .I asked her if she can do nail disayne, she said yes.Ask if it can take more time it is fine.So we will have 2 hours spend there.I booked my next appointment for massage in other place. My friend visited me in town and we wanted have a good time.I came there, lyft dropped us there we had 2 hours.I came with my friend did not think righ and she putted us in chair both .I ask her if she is only one?Her anwser was yes.I said we have only 1 hour and 30 min.She said no problem. She said she called me back and wanted tell me couple of her employees not show up.(I did not have any misscall)I tried to come down myself and enjoyed my pedicure. My friend already set in chair and putted fit there.I did the same what lady told me.She is started to do my pedicure with files and buffer which is she used on many clients.I ask her to changed she did not even listen to me.The Place was in process remodeling as well.It was very dusty and dirty. After 10 min filling and cleaning she wanted put lotion and I told her she has to removed and clean my cuticles and remove a callus again. She did not have anything new to used on my feet.I told her I do not mind to pay more if she can not rush and just do good job and used everything new and clean. My friend sat in chair with water already disappointed and he wanted do pedicure in his hotel, where he stayed. After callus remover with used files, she did not removed at all.Horrible job!She putted lotion and did 2 min feet massage, which is end up with a bruise, not massage manipulation at all.I do pedicure every 3 weeks and never end up with like this bad experience in Del Mar.Finally she pained my nail all over my toes, nail polish was very tick did not dry on my toes. She waisted almost 2 hours my time with horrible job, never got disayne on nails, because she did not know how to do.I ask her simple disayne and even showed her picture of simple flower. She putted white dots and I asked to remove it,because it was not a flower.I paid 29$ plus 11 $ tip for pedicure, which is I would not want even for free.I never got my mani ,refused to do,after horrible job with pedi.Lease my friend enjoy hot feet bath and end up with cold water, just waited on pedicure chair. My dress was very dirty after chair, because was a lot of dust there.I do not know how State board approved this place to provide services. After her service I end up with nail fungest. If you love yourself, stay away from owner who is lying on the phone, make sure she can get some business.,or bring your own files and tools to not get a nail fungest.I believe all 5 starts reviews is fake!Because this place is underconstraction and dusty, not clean at all.The worst experience ever!P.S.we went in other place next day and I redone my pedi and Did mani too.For 29$ they added me pineapple scrab as well and did good feet massage for 15 min. read more

Truly outstanding. I don't live in the area and used yelp to find a salon. I got a beautiful and relaxing gel manicure and pedicure in this small and charming salon, but then unknowingly left behind my iPad power cord. The lovely woman who did my nails tracked me down and actually dropped my cord off at my house in Orange County the next day while she was on her way to LA. Amazing! What a special person. I don't want to underplay the quality of the manicure and pedicure - they were first rate - but I also know that others value and appreciate special service. This salon was outstanding in every way. Many thanks to this wonderful woman. read more

Tiny vintage cottage atmosphere with graceful older woman performing the gentlest most thorough pedicure ever. All the best of Asian calm and careful attention to detail with a California casual style makes this a perfect little getaway from the usual manicure mills. A definite YES! read more

I have been going to Cali Nails for over 20 years. Excellent with French & American manicures. The quality of the work done is excellent. If you prefer a smaller and more relaxed salon with attention to detail vs. a noisy, "mow, blow and go" type place, I highly recommend Cali Nails. The massage with manicures and pedicures is excellent along with the hot towel. Easy parking in front of the salon or behind the building. As Thu is busy and sometimes clients arrive late, only slight issue is that you may have to wait a bit for your appointment. read more

Just want to update my review to September 2016. Wonderful place. The best. Hands down. Tu gives incredible facials and massage as well. Tu and Hannah = the most gentle, calm, kind and relaxing mani pedi ever! read more

I have been a client of Cali Nails for 8 years. Tu the owner has a small, comfortable, very quiet shop which is located in downtown Del Mar. Her pedicures and manicures are amazing and the spa chairs hidden away with soft cloth providing the feeling of privacy while you listen to relaxing symphony music. I had tried so many spas/salons in this area and in Carmel Valley but the loudness and unprofessionalism was not to my liking. Her prices are very reasonable and her foot and leg massages the best I have ever had. With a small polite staff the atmosphere is soothing. I had written a review a few years back and it did not get posted. She takes walk ins and whether you are new to the area or a seasonal visitor, give it a try. It is a much different experience than most of the larger company run shops. And believe me, it shows. After a day in the classroom, this is the place I go to for myself.
