I went in for a fill in and two nails repaired with Ginny. She'd done my nails before and they were decent. This time was much different, the craftmanship was poor at best; my nails were all different shapes and lengths, some had a curve while others were flat on top. When I asked her to extend one of my natural nails, she put a tip UNDERNEATH my natural nail and caked some acrylic gel on top and STILL managed to make the nail shorter than the rest. The top coat was streaked and dried in ripples on some of the nails and one of the tips she installed was crooked and digging into my skin. MANAGEMENT OFFERED NO REAL REASOLUTION !! The new receptionist/manager Leslie doesn't know what she's doing. Specifically asked me what time I wanted to come and who I wanted to be serviced by. Gave her a time and when I got there 10 min early she informed me that somebody just walked in requesting my person and I would have to wait an hour past the time I was given to come in. She had a poor attitude about it and overall bad customer service. Almost had a similar encounter with another client after me but luckily for that client she had already talked to her tech. The young lady who does eyebrows there is really talented. She's always booked up. The one time I got my nails done there they were nice, but the reason for this review is actually I went August 1 and got a $50 pedicure gel topcoat and acrylic big toes. Never will I ever visit this establishment again! The customer service is beyond terrible and the technicians are unlicensed and unprofessional. Two weeks ago, I visited to get a fill-in on my acrylic overlay and an eyebrow wax. Nhu, who I do not believe is a licensed esthetician, put burning hot wax directly on my skin, causing my skin to burn! I looked in the mirror and almost cried!! I could see burns all over my forehead, and to top it off, they attempted to CHARGE me for the service. Apparently I didn't learn my lesson because I went back on today and after calling and being placed on a list and being told there was about an hour wait for the nail tech I usually go to, I still ended up waiting about an hour for service! When I finally got in the nail techs chair, I was asked to get up because another client was there before me... seriously? After two hours?? I left. I called to get the owners name and was told that it doesn't get handed out "Willy-Nilly." Seriously? It's a consumer right to know who owns the establishments that you are a patron at. I guess they didn't expect me to know that, because when I told the "manager" I was told Thai and Lily before I hung up the phone. Save your money and go to a nice, reputable location. Very poor customer service and the manger will not accommodate you if you are not satisfied. The service is very slow and their work is messy! They only have about 2 good workers which they are alway busy or booked. If you would like to spend your entire day waiting on one of the two good nail techs be my guest. But don't move so fast. My final time patronizing this establishment the nail tech ripped half of my skin beneath my nail. She then tried to continue finishing my nails while my finger was bleeding. I had to tend to my own wound. I had to request anti bacterial solution because she wasn't going to give me any. At check out I expressed my disappointment to the manager Pi and he said that I would be fine. He tried to throw a $5 off coupon for "my next visit" as if I would be back. He told me to take it or leave it because he wasn't assisting me with this visit. He was very nasty and rude. That is no type of way to run a business! I had Tye I think his name was do my nails, he did great job but he was definitely rushing and nipped my skin which I didn't appreciate and was aggressive when filing and buffing my nails. There's no need to rush at all! I also requested to get my eyebrows arched and tinted, I'm not sure who usually does them but I informed her that I didn't want them waxed and I guess she felt offended by that. I was referred by a coworker to get my nails done at Nail Works in the Marshfield Plaza. I loved her nails so much, and she assured me that they were reasonably priced and did great work. I'm a pretty simple girl when it comes to my nails. I normally opt for a full acrylic set and clear gel nail polish. On the day that I went in which was on a Friday night they were extremely packed. The customer service was excellent and they had me in and out within the course span of 35 minutes. It wasn't until about Monday that I noticed my nails beginning to bubble up and begin to look as though they could easily pop off. I am by no means rough with my hands, especially when it comes to me having nails on, so I was a bit taken a back to see my nails begin to look as though I've been wearing them for about 2 weeks. I called Nail Works and explained the situation to the person who answered the phone. I let them know that my work schedule conflicts with the time and days that I'm able to come in so that they can observe my nails. They instructed me to come in tonight (1/2/2020). Once in the shop they acted as if they didn't remember my face. The guy who did my nails disregarded me, and stated that he didn't remember me. I was told to wait to speak with a manager. Once again I was referred to Nail Works, but from this encounter I would personally never bring my money to their business again. Next time I'll stick to what I know. Also, I paid $33 for my service. I'm pretty sure others have had a different experience, but this would be my first time that I've had to return to a nail shop because of poor work. I won't be recommending anyone. I'll continue to go to the black nail salon called 2 A Tee Nail Salon on 8356 S Pulaski Rd Chicago, Illinois. I'll be taking my business there so that they can properly fix my nails. read more

Ahh one of my favorite nail places to go to over the years. This place started off small, cozy, and chic and has since expanded (for the better), but their service has been on a whirlwind of up and down. My favorites Kim and Jason are only there on the weekends, and just yesterday I had to wait an HOUR for a simple eyebrow wax from Jason. Not his fault, but the front was forgetting that their were other people waiting for waxes other than the customers coming from the stations. Anywho. Kim was my favorite to do my nails, and she does a great and precised job doing it, but she has become too popular to squeeze me in when she has other clients, and I often get pushed to another manicurist. Jason is awesome for waxes and eyelashes, and he too has become a star but he's extremely apologetic for your wait and does a great job to make up for it... Not push me off to someone else. I recommend this place if you have time to spare to wait. Plan 1-2 hours for the wait in advance on a weekend, if you can try, go during the week. I have since receive my services up North, 1. Because they remember your name and 2. Because they value great customer service. This once cozy place has turned into chaos and I rather go elsewhere for quality service, then sit for an hour for just eyebrows. On a brighter note, most if not all speak fluent English and have great communication skills, if that matters to anyone. read more

They look BEAUTIFUL each time however EVERY TIME I broke a nail...twice within hours of leaving the shop. I tried 4 different people.... My real nails are long I kept telling them they needed a thick overlay... I don't think they have anyone skilled with longer nails.... Very bad customer service. I came in on a Thursday and requested no chip on my hands and feet. The next morning I discovered that my feet were terribly messed up. Clearly, the polish hadn't dried before I left. I had a flight to Orlando so didn't have time to return to the salon. Yes, my toes were messed up during vacation. I returned the next Friday morning and was informed that I didn't get the no chip and they would redo it for an extra charge. Note: my child was with me and got no chip on her hands and feet as well. My total bill was $102 and I always tip 20%. So your employee didn't give me no-chip as I requested, didn't confirm that polish was dry before I left and now you're charging me for what originally should have been done but wasn't due to your employee error. You DO have to be aware of peak days/hours because when it's crowded the customer service isn't AS PERSONAL. I wish I would have read the comments before letting anyone here touch my feet. I am truly disappointed that my money was wasted on a horrible pedicure. From the employee (Victor) that "worked" on my feet to the front desk receptionist, I am disgusted. First, Victor could not understand for the life of him that I only had no-chip on my natural nail. He insisted that I had acrylic on my nails. Right then, I decided that he will not be touching my nails. Second, I said I wanted my toe nails to be square and what does Victor do? He cuts and file it round. I said I want it square and he said it is but proceeds to fix his mistake. He couldn't get it right so he files down to my skin. He doesn't clean under my nails or around and he doesn't ask me if I want him to scrap or scrub the bottom of my feet - he just scraps until I jerk my foot away to say no. He had the nerve to have an attitude for me being highly disappointed about how my feet are being handled. Lastly, the front desk receptionist tells me next time don't go to him. I said I don't live here to know who to go to. He says he just sends people to who is available at that time meaning he don't care about the quality of their work. It's all about the quantity. Firstly let me start by saying that if you consider yourself to be a woman of class, this probably isn't the place for you. I now live in a different city but I come back to visit family from time to time and I look forward the cheaper prices that Chicago nail salons usually offer. I spent almost more than I would have in my current city. Also, this location has done some expansion and due to its large size, you spend a good 30-45 min. waiting to be serviced. The clientele that comes in is.. for lack of better words, on the ghetto side, and do a great deal of yelling and complaining. I don't know about you but I go to get my nails done to RELAX. The music that plays is anything but relaxing and they don't promote a serene or relaxing environment. Many of the workers are young and behave no better than the customers. 20 minutes before closing I hear the workers yelling literally across the room at one another (in English) to "lock the doors" because no one wanted anymore customers. This is service now? Showing everyone that you hate your job? The woman who did my nails completely rushed them, wasn't very polite, and despite a design I chose that was on THEIR display she couldn't do. Despite me being polite to her regardless, she didn't smile until she saw that I actually tipped her, then she cracked a smile as wide as Kentucky. Needless to say I will not be giving this shop my money again. There are way too many salons in Chicago. Plus good luck finding a parking spot in that congested neighborhood. read more

I went to get a nail repaired that I only had for 2 days that was lifting off. I was told I would have to wait 2 hours or comr back the next day. The price is reasonable. The workers talked loudly, with each other, in their own language, on the salon floor. They also ate lunch on the salon floor as well. It's a typical nail salon with typical nail salon prices...which is great. This place is CLEAN (which is of the utmost importance). They have a lot of options when it comes to designs. And the do all the cute designs that people wear NOW. They do better than average designs. There's not a lot of polish selection out front but when I got my marble design they brought nail polish from the back and it was good quality polish. They probably do that to keep people from stealing. Also many of the nail techs speak REALLY GOOD ENGLISH so it's really easy to ask questions and communicate what you want and don't want without a language barrier. I like trying new nail spots. I was definitely satisfied and I will be going back in the next couple weeks for my fill in. I also got a pedicure. I was satisfied. He took his time and the massage was great.
