I've been looking for an affordable spot in Chelsea to get my eyebrows waxed, and I finally found it. They also have a 10 punches get one free loyalty card for waxes, which other local nail salons is tried don't offer. The salon is nice and clean when you walk in. The people who work there are pretty friendly, too. The waxing room is down in the basement and it's nothing special. It's a very small no frills room with the usual little table to lay on. I've had two different women do my brows and both have done a good job. Professional, no bad breath as they hover over my face (you know how unfortunate that can be ) It's about $10 for the eyebrow wax, which is about on par or lower end for a nail salon and I'm happy with the service! read more

I have no idea why this place isn't rated 5 stars. The environment is nice and it's in a great area. The gel mani was done very professionally and shaped well. I spoke to the nail technician about a nail that looked crooked and she fixed it with no fuss. The overall environment of this nail salon is outstanding you feel very relaxed and the soothing music makes you feel like you're in a far away oasis. DO NOT GO HERE!! I GOT A MAJOR INFECTION AFTER GETTING MY NAILS DONE HERE! While doing my nails, the person was scraping so hard that my fingers were starting to bleed. Even when I asked them to go lighter the did not stop. Afterwards I had scabs all over my cuticles which then got infected. It was so bad I had to go to the doctors office and go on an antibiotic. I'm struggling with why reviews of Nail Spa & Beyond are so mediocre. In the Chelsea hood, nail joints are expensive and more expensive. After trying all the more convenient places more on 7th Avenue, I've decided that Nail Spa and Beyond is my go to joint whenever I have time. It's clean, has the nice massagey chairs, and the girls are fast, accurate, and nice. A mani + pedi is $29, which I think is about $10 cheaper than other comparable places. Bonus, add in a 15 minute massage for another $9 (or was it $10) and I was in heaven! I've had Bonnie and Judy before, and they are both fabulous and fast. In the winter, I would frequently wear tights and oops... NOT so great post pedicure, getting my tights back on. Judy was so service oriented, she actually helped me get my tights back on! I'm not sure anyone else who would do that. If you speak mandarin chinese, most folks here speak chinese, so this is your opportunity to practice (for me its my Chinese of a 5 year old). read more

This was the worst nail salon I have ever been a customer of. I walked in Monday afternoon for a pedicure, acrylic nails with a manicure over them. The pedicure itself was fine, rushed and no removal of cuticles and 25 second (timed) massage- whatever fine. The manicure was where the issue lies. I explained I wanted fake nails put on, in an oval shape. The technician cut my real nails as short as they could go (not necessary) and attached nails with nail glue and then started shaping. She clearly didn't understand what an oval shape was even after showing her multiple pictures. We had to REMOVE the first set of fake nails glued on. Second set goes on, they are not secure with glue and I mention it to the technician and she tells me not to worry. Fast forward to being in the salon for three hours... I leave with a 65 dollars total manicure that was uneven, thick, and my nails were too long (also didn't push back or cut my cuticles and my left thumb was bleeding - see attached picture) When leaving I tipped 10 dollars on top of an 87 dollar bill, and was bullied into leaving more money even tho I was COMPLETELY UNHAPPY and verbalized that while in the chair, with the service provided. I was very upset mainly because I went here to get my nails done for my engagement party tomorrow but figured I would just deal all with it, even tho my friend told me my nails looked like spatulas. On Tuesday (less than 12 hours) I woke up with one nail already peeled off. Later in the day, while walking, two more broke. It is now 2 days after and my nails look like the picture attached. I also want to just say that I don't work with my hands, I have an office job so there was no undue pressure or stress on my nails. I urge anyone reading this review to go somewhere else as I essentially got taken advantage of and am out 100 dollars for these HORRIBLE nails. Please please don't go here. read more

First time trying out this nail place. Very clean and friendly staff, I was also happy to see so much options for nail polish. I wanted tips and gel color, but I was very disappointed with the results. The shape wasn't done right even though I asked lady to file more and give more shape, and 2 days after my "gel" color already started chipping! Gel is suppose to at least last 2 weeks minimum. I hope they're able to fix this issue and re do my gel color. I also think it chipped so quickly because the lady didn't add any clear base before applying the color I chose. read more

This is one of the worst nail salons that I have ever had the misfortune of ever using. I was lured into the salon with one of those highly misleading promotional offers, only to be aggressively upsold for additional services, all of which I firmly rejected. Of course, I was given massive attitude. Once the woman who had been working with me realized that I was simply getting the basic mani-pedi, she passed me over to a more junior staff member. This individual gave me a marginal service experience. I have been getting mani-pedi service on a regular basis for over three decades. I am a male, and I always ask for a buff as I do not like polish. In all my years of experience, I have NEVER been charged for a buff. That being said, when I was checking out, they tried to charge me for the buff, which actually sucked as there was no real shine achieved. The additional cost of the buff was roughly equal to what I would have tipped the manicurist, so I simply threw the cash on the counter and left. Now the business needed to make the decision: did the manicurist get the tip, thus properly eliminating a questionable charge for my buff or do they run the amount through the cash register, and not give the manicurist a tip. I had successfully turned the table. Now the problem was there's, not mine. I will NEVER return to this shady business, and I suggest that you go elsewhere as well. You've Been Warned!! read more

Waltzed in here on a whim with a friend to see what the wait would be like for two manis and pedis. It was a late Saturday afternoon, but they were able to take us right away. Color selection was diverse, mostly Esse and O.P.I.(also, gels were available). Pedicure chairs were large, lounge-y, and massage-y, as they should be. My nail tech did a quality job on my feet and hands. She offered a 15 minute foot massage for $9 extra, so I went for it. Factor in something that's relatively cost effective and the probablility of running into one drops even lower. Fortunately, Nail Spa & Beyond is just good enough that if I need a manicure, pedicure or fill-in ASAP, I know I can count on them. The prices are decent and the staff is nice. The place is small -on my last visit they sent me to the basement because there weren't enough nail dryers on the main floor. I felt like a kid being sent to his room with no dinner. And unfortunately, their nail polish selection isn't that extensive (in my humble opinion). This is my go-to place for a lunch time mani/pedi during the week. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. Most importantly, they do a great job. I've had regular (not gel) manicures done here that lasted over 2 weeks without chipping. This place is a hidden gem! I get the powder manicure with Happy who is by far the best nail technician I've ever had. She is so sweet, detail oriented and really listens and pays attention to her work. I've been to sooo many nail salons around the city and always have a problem with 1. Price 2. Customer service and 3. Sanitation and this place blew me out of the water. I almost didn't want to review it bc I didn't want my secret spot to blow up but I couldn't resist. The prices are also on point at only $40 for a powder manicure. Recently opened "Nail Spa & Beyond" offers a $25 mani-pedi, so naturally I jumped on the moderately priced opportunity. The pedicure was great...he really went to town with the foot scrubber, and the calf massage felt great. The manicure was also lovely. So why the low score? As I was inspecting my right hand as he was applying a second layer of polish on my left, I noticed a smear of blood...BLOOD...and it wasn't mine. I asked if he was bleeding, to which he responded by checking out his own digits. He wiped my hand and wiped his finger, and offered a half-assed "Sorry." I was too stunned to ask him to stop, but as I thought about it more, I desperately wanted to mom-out. I didn't, but I did notice that Mr. BloodyHandMan popped out, and returned only to have applied Neosporin and begin working on another girl. This experience is too bad, though; the actual mani-ped sans blood was pretty good. In any case, if you like blood-free mani-pedi's, I'd suggest you go elsewhere. read more

My nails look fine and the manicurist was nice, but there was not even a minute of a foot/leg/hand massage. Didn't do anything to remove dead skin or rough patches on my feet. I've been coming here for a couple months only because it is right by my apartment. Their mani pedi deal says $27, however when they ask you to pay, they say it's $29 because of the "tax." If you get serviced by Jessica, consider yourself warned. She is the most unpleasant and rude person I have been serviced from there. (They are all pretty rude). She tried up selling me with a packaged spa deal and I kindly, KINDLY said "it's okay, thank you." I guess she didn't understand what I said and proceeded to give me the spa pedicure and I had to say no again. She got so angry and the rest of the mani pedi service, she was extremely rude and I wish I didn't even leave her a tip, I just didn't have the heart to. When I tipped her, she didn't even say thank you. My shoes were thrown somewhere and I had to go find it to put it back on my feet and she didn't even pull out my chair when I went to dry my nails and feet.
