    Chromed out nails by Linda

Linda at Nail Society is amazing! Her attention to detail with her creativity, and ability to do designs is one of a kind. She's really good at what she does. Truly talented nail artist.

    This is the salon.

The staff are very friendly and professional. The salon is always clean. There is plenty of free parking. The shop is nicely decorated. I get a gel Mani/Pedi every two weeks. Tiffany and Ryan are my two favorite technicians. Oddly enough, it's hard to find technicians who are skilled enough to make short nails look natural instead of chunky. I get a lot of compliments on my nails.

Ryan does the most amazing GelX manicures! He pays so much attention to detail and is so creative with his interpretation of the nail inspo I bring in! All the staff are incredibly friendly. Ive had nothing but the best experience and leave with some of my favorite nail designs every time I come to the salon! Love this place!!

    SALON INTERIOR

You'd be wise to avoid this business, which has had a name change and is recently under new management. (Also, the attempted decor "glow-up" is strip-mall-tacky -- to be generous.) I entered the Nail Society salon for a walk-in manicure and was told by a brassy receptionist that I should have a seat, as there was no technician available for 10-15 minutes. Never mind that one was draped over a spa chair, on his phone. 30 seconds later, a young woman opened the door and asked if she could "walk in" for a nail service. The aforementioned male manicurist jumped up from his chair and began working on the female patron immediately. The receptionist saw my jaw drop and blurted, "Sorry, he doesn't take male clients." So, it seems, because of my gender, I had to wait. "He had a bad experience with a male client once," she continued, digging the hole deeper. Apparently, no one at this place of business is aware of the Unruh Civil Rights Act. They will be soon. (She'd have been smarter to come up with an excuse that's not a potential legal lightning rod. But, here we are.) Naturally, I left immediately and walked a couple blocks to a much nicer nail salon with no discriminating employees. I should also point out that Nail Society raised their prices and stopped taking credit cards without informing customers. There is no reasonably visible display of the hefty price hike -- another thing, the receptionist revealed, that has been pointed out by many other long-time customers. (The increase has to be around 25% by my estimation. I noticed only when I went to pay at a previous appointment.) All this to say, there are so many nail salons across Los Angeles, and I encourage those reading this review to seek them out. Nail Society is a shameful, discriminatory business that does not deserve your money. Despicable. *UPDATE* 7/18/2025: Please see the surly reply from shop owner, Paloma, attached as a photo below. 1) I would never go back, and 2) whether or not the salon respects its employees' boundaries makes no difference when it comes to illegal business practices. A business cannot discriminate in any way based on gender. The salon treated a customer differently because he is a man. Full stop. It doesn't take a JD to find the legalities involved. Their receptionist 1) admitted that other customers were unhappy with the "softly announced" increased pricing and, 2) that she herself didn't understand the male employee's issue. It appears that the receptionist uses both sides of her mouth to speak. Yes, it's absolutely true that I said I didn't plan on returning, and, yes it's absolutely true that I returned against my better judgment because of geographic convenience. That's neither here nor there. In what way would that decision factor into the issue at hand -- gender discrimination? Frankly, the tone of her response speaks for itself. Is this the kind of business owner you want to give your money to when there are so many other options? And counter to Paloma's histrionic rant, the prices were NOT so transparent at the station at which I was seated. While a business has the right to do whatever it wants (in accordance with state and federal law), that doesn't make it a sound business practice. Also, no one was threatened -- I said I was exploring my remedy options. This nonsense about hardworking mothers and "safety" are simply dog-whistle buzz terms to gin up an alternative narrative in which the wronged party is to blame. In closing, Miss Paloma may want to check her reviews, because I'm clearly not the only person who experienced some of these issues. Defensiveness and petty sparring is a bad color on her -- she may want to pick another. Also, suspicious positive reviews have shown up praising the receptionist. I'm skeptical.

I usually get my brows threaded once a month, but after a catastrophic shoulder injury from snowboarding, I haven't been able to keep up with my usual routine--so I needed to switch to waxing. From the first phone call, Charlene was so kind, professional, and helpful. At my appointment she was right on time, super communicative, and made the whole experience feel effortless. When I met her, I didn't even have to explain much--she just got it. I instantly trusted her and told her to do her thing, and I'm so glad I did. My brows turned out beautiful--clean, shaped perfectly, and exactly what I needed. I'm genuinely so happy I found her and came across her business. I already told her I'll be referring my wife (who's a total perfectionist and always on the go), and I'll definitely be coming back myself. Amazing job, Charlene -- so nice meeting you today, and thank you so much!
