While I was strolling down king Street and chattering away with friends, manicures were suggested. We began a hunt for a nail salon; any would do, really. Just as it was decided, though, I espied a makeshift cardboard sign hanging on a railing by the pavement that announced "30% off Nail".
As I'm always one for a bargain, I didn't hesitate to investigate this further.
We peeked inside a place called Nail Parlour and saw 2 nail techs inside, waiting for customers on the otherwise desolate king Street on a monday morning. Lin, herself, came out and told us about the special offer she was running, as she had just opened up shop at the location and would be offering 30% off services for her first month. We hurried off to pull out cash for our £9 manicures and returned.
I have to say: I was not at all disappointed. Lin and her colleague were as friendly as can be, and they gave fabulous manicures. Lin was attentive and chatted away with us as and when it was appropriate; we even had a right natter about the new Twilight film.
Best of all, Lin had the most steady and perfect hand of anyone I've ever encountered who does nails. The paint job on my little piggies was p-e-r-f-e-c-t.. Plus, she encouraged me to go for the outrageous teal China Glaze varnish instead of the boring taupe OPI vanish I'd picked out, and, I'll give it to her, her colour choice was spot on for my skin tone. Not to mention, it was much more fun for the summer.
£12 for a (full-price) manicure in zone 2 with an incredibly personable and skilled nail technician is, my friends, as good as it gets.
(Even though 30% off of £12 isn't really £9, I understand that maths isn't everyone's best subject, and £9 was still a damn good deal.) read more
