Terrible experience. Arrived for a pedicure and I felt rushed to choose a color. The salon looks dirty and not aesthetically pleasing. I am SO disgusted with the service I received this afternoon. I usually love going to the Nail Palace and all of the employees are normally thorough, professional and polite. I got a pedicure which was rushed through and an ANC manicure which was also rushed through. The nail artist I had barely spoke to me, and kept grabbing my hands like I was annoying her. My cuticles are absolutely gross still and there is ANC All around the edges of my nails. I got ANC color here today, and the technician who worked on me hacked at my fingertips with an emery board. I've got cuts all over my hands now, I bled from three of them, and, to top it all off, my nails don't even look good. The nail tips are jagged and uneven. I came to the place because it's close to my house, but I'm willing to drive a little more if it means I don't bleed every time I want to color my nails. I'm editing this review to say that my fiancée, who also got her nails done and had a different technician, spent the majority of last night fixing the shape of her own nails because the woman did such a terrible job in the first place. I walked into the nail salon while another customer was complaining about how her nails were looking and how she did not like them. They then took me and in the middle of getting my acrylics done I told her I was not happy with them. I did not get what i asked for and i have had to reglue my nails on multiple times. I just got them done 3 days ago. I tried complaining and asked for a refund and they were just trying to fix them instead of trying to cooperate. They also kept saying it is because my nail beds are short but that is a lie because every other place i have gone to in the past, my nails have stayed on and were actually worth the money. Service is just okay. They hassled my friend at check out and did an amateurish job on her manicure. When told the cost of the pedicure, the woman said she had to do a lot of work on my feet - I felt rather insulted - my feet were not ghastly. I think they just really want to do color changes, not much else in way of pedicure. I tipped half what I would normally because of their high pressure behavior at check out. They prefer cash over credit card (I get that - credit cards cost them more) so they even have an ATM in the salon. I don't trust that. Felt very rushed. All the polish colors are mixed up, they don't keep them organized by color. I don't understand why they have plastic coverings in the foot bath but don't change them between customers. It's not a sanitary practice for customers as much as an easy way for them to clean up at the end of the day. Water was luke warm at best. Don't intend to return. read more

Unfortunately, my friend and I had a disappointing experience at the nail salon today. Despite booking appointments for gel pedicures, we waited for almost an hour before receiving any service. Additionally, the worker who greeted us appeared unfriendly, which made us feel unwelcome. While I understand that the salon may be understaffed due to post-pandemic circumstances, I felt that the level of service was so rude. our pedicures were rushed, where my friend and I experienced discomfort from the aggressive exfoliation and cuticle trimming. we observed VERY UNSANITARY practices during our visit, including inadequate cleaning of the pedicure tubs and reuse of dropped tools. I strongly advise NOT coming to this salon. In addition to poor service and sanitation, my friend and I were charged different prices for the same services, with an unexplained $10 surcharge added to my friend's bill. Despite claiming that this fee was for a exfoliation treatment, we were confused, as this was never requested. I gave this place a shot when I first moved to Schenectady and the woman was rude and rushing. She wouldn't let me choose a color until my hands were covered in foils- I don't care for salons that do this. I'd like to look through them all beforehand. All my nails were cracked within a week. The other day I decided to give them a second shot and the place was very busy. No one greeted me when I walked in and the woman that did my nails was rushing. After she put the final clear coat on, she didn't wait long enough for them to dry before lotioning my hands, smudging all the nails she just rushed through to finish. I showed her the smudges and she tried to sit me down and fix them but at this point I was frustrated and had somewhere else to be. I expected to at least get some kind of discount after she screwed up my nails. It's now 3 days later and 3 nails have broken off and the rest have cracked lines through them. I have been going to this salon for probably nine years. This is a family run business. They are pleasant, their shop is clean and they are even open on Sundays now as of September 2013. I highly reccommend Helen but many of the staff there are excellent. They offer acrylic nails, gel nails, wraps, you name it they have it. I have a pedicure and manicure with the Amazing Nail Concepts Nail polish which is a shellac gel that goes over your nail and has no odor. It is an interesting process as they dip your hand in this powdery color substance and then perform miracles to make your nails look absolutely model ready. It stays perfect for up to three weeks on your nails. Definitely check them out as they are open everyday now. read more
