Jimmy was rude, argumentative, and completely unprofessional--in front of other customers, no less. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. I was there for a simple dip powder, and even the staff looked shocked by his behavior. One customer just shook her head. Better technicians. I had been going here for five years faithfully once a month manicure pedicure even in the winter the last time I went, the normal technicians were leaving for Vietnam. There was a family emergency, and Jimmy stuck me with his mother-in-law. It was by far the worst pedicure I ever got. The massage was more like the woman was washing her hands on my legs. This is what I got after being a loyal customer for five years not to mention Jimmy didn't like that I was putting light nail polish on my nails. Didn't put acrylic on the tips, can not do any design or even a simple French, nails crooked and sloppy, they have fake pictures posted on the salon and on reviews which I was told and shown NO ONE there can do. Only a plain color polish is what you can get here and it still turned out horrible. Prices are way too high. I could have done my own nails and they would have turned out better. I won't even go here to get them soaked off at this point. Talk about false advertising. I was looking for a new nail salon and his is the worst nail experience I have ever had. I wanted a regular pedicure and a manicure dip. First, I was there for almost three hours. He didn't even do my pedicure and was just changing my color and I was so confused so I had to tell that he was doing it wrong. Then for my nails he didn't cut my cuticles and my dip was put on horribly. There are so many mistakes on my nails and some have half the paint off. This is horrible and I kept telling him he wasn't doing it right but he didn't do anything to fix them. I absolutely hate my nails and I am so angry. On top of all that he took forever. I decided to give them a second chance by going to Jimmy because I heard some good things about him. I had an appointment scheduled for 11:00AM (scheduled 2 weeks in advance) and I receive a call MORNING OF my appointment at 9:46AM telling me that my nail tech is on vacation. I have never in my whole live had a better pedicure. I came to this salon to get a pedicure after leaving my usual nail salon since there was about a two-hour wait. I walked in this salon and was immediately taken to the pedicure station. I believe the woman doing my nails was the owner but I am not 100% sure. Whoever she is, she did an amazing job! Extremely detailed, attentive, and nice. She really took the time to make sure I enjoyed my time at the salon and that my pedicure would last. After my nails were done I went to the drying station and she brought me a receipt with the total, no guessing on how the payment process was going to work. While walking out three people said bye and wished me a good night. Those small things really make going to the nail salon more comfortable. Plus, all the pricing is on their website and I believe they are competitively priced. read more

I went to Nail First for the first time on 4/2/2018 after having read the reviews on here. I have been getting my nails done consistently for over two years around the metro Detroit area. I went to Nail First for an acrylic fill with shellac. The gentlemen named Ryan who did my nails did not file my cuticles nor did he file my nails correctly. The acrylic is on my natural nail and is exceptionally thick, as seen in the pictures. Also, the nail polish does not meet the acrylic and can be clearly seen in the photos the difference in length. I was also charged an additional $2 for "new acrylic" on one of nails when I was getting an acrylic fill. Nail First does not have a price board located in their place of business so the $2 up charge may have been correct. However, I do not have anything to reference this additional charge on. Please look at the photos before making an decision on whether or not to visit this place of business and spend your money there. Before I left I had a different employee file the sides of my nails and she said "what happened here?". I wish I had an answer for this young lady. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE and use my misfortune as a tool to make an informed decision. read more

This is the only place I can get a shellac/gel manicure that actually lasts more than a week!! I'm used to them chipping away (like they're not supposed to) so I went in with an open mind, fully expecting them to chip or peel away like other places. Other shops have tried, but Nail First has a magic touch. I'm on my second manicure from them (done by different nail techs) and my nails still look amazing!! Came in without an appointment and was told 5-10 minutes to wait. After 20 min was put in a chair, someone came over, started filing one nail, stopped and walked away to work on another customer. Sat another 10 min waiting without explaining anything. It was awkward to say the least. Another customer next to me walked out as she was tIred of waiting as well. While the manicure lasted a long time I won't be back. It was not a very clean or tranquil environment I like to enjoy during a mani. Seemed very dirty and an odd smell the entire time. Maybe it was the time of day, we came in the evening or something but after reading these raving reviews I had to come try it out. First I think that the language barrier with some of the employees has A LOT to do with how I experienced this location. Nevertheless I've handled those situations with ease in the past having lived in other countries. There are only two employees who understand/speak English and one of them completely misunderstood what my mother said about wanting a gel overlay on her nails and instead told someone else to give her a full set (fake nail and all). She realized what was happening and told him to what she wanted and the employees who spoke English jumped in. This place is really small so that means that now everyone is listening to any concerns you have. Then as she tried to explain what services she would like an employee started telling my mother that if she doesn't like something she should leave. This is just horrible customer service. People come to nail salons and spas to relax and be pampered, not PAY to be treated poorly. read more

Honestly I've been to worse nail salons but this one is on my list. I got a full set of acrylics which I've had acrylics plenty of times before I was told 25 dollars for the full set. Then there was a $2 up charge for the shape I wanted ? I mean okay. My nails are definitely crooked... not awful but noticeable for sure. I read the reviews on here and figured that they have a good reputation but ended up spending $40 for a full set and shellac. My shellac was rushed through because they were busy and have bubbles and streak marks. Honestly there are a million nail salons that are way better. The vibe I gathered from here too was just really unprofessional and they were kinda rude. Just believe me when I say try somewhere else. Or pay 10 dollars more for a top notch place, my full set was no where near worth $40, it would have maybe been worth it for $20. read more
